शाल्यन्नन्तोयपयसी केवलोष्णे श्रृतेऽपि वा । तृष्णाघ्ने मुस्तगुड़योर्गुटिका वा मुखे धृता ।। २७९.
Rice cooked with plenty of water or milk, or even simply with hot water, quenches thirst; or one may hold a tablet of musta and gur in the mouth.
यवान्नविकृतिः पूपं शुष्कमूलकजन्तथा । शाकं पटोलवेत्राग्रमुरुस्तम्भविनाशनम् ।। २७९.
Barley preparations, cakes, dried roots, and vegetables such as patola and vetra shoots remove stiffness.
मुद्गाढ़कमसूराणां सतिलैर्जाङ्गलै रसैः । ससैन्धवघृतद्राक्षाशुण्ठ्यामलककोलजैः ।। २७९.
Mudga, arhar, and masura, with sesame, wild meat juices, rock salt, ghee, grapes, dry ginger, amalaki, and kola, are to be used.
यूषैः पुराणगोधूमयवशाल्यन्नमभ्यसेत् । विसर्पी ससिताक्षौद्रमृद्वीकादाड़िमोदकम् ।। २७९.
One should use soups of old wheat, barley, and rice; for those with erysipelas, a sweet made of sesame, honey, grapes, and pomegranate is beneficial.
रक्तयष्टिकगोधूमयवमुद्गादिकं लघु । काकमारी च वेत्राग्रं वास्तुकञ्च सुवर्च्चला ।। २७९.
Red sugarcane, wheat, barley, and mung beans are light; kakamari, the tip of vetra, vastuka, and suvarcalā as well.
वातशोणितनाशाय तोयं शस्तं मधु । नाशारोगेषु च हितं घृतं दुर्व्वाप्रसाधितम् ।। २७९.
For the destruction of wind and blood disorders, water mixed with honey is recommended; clarified butter prepared with durva grass is beneficial in diseases without cure.
भृङ्गराजरसे सिद्धं तैलं धात्रीरसेऽपि वा । नश्यं सर्वामयेष्विष्टं मूर्द्धजन्तूद्भवेषु च ।। २७९.
Oil prepared with bhringaraja juice or with amla juice is desirable as nasal medicine for all ailments and for those arising from scalp parasites.
शीततोयान्नपानञ्च तिलानां विप्र भक्षणम् । द्विजजाढर्यकरं प्रोक्तं तथा तुष्टिकरम्परम् ।। २७९.
Cold water, food, and drink, as well as the consumption of sesame seeds, O Brahmin, are said to cause sluggishness in twice-born persons, and also bring satisfaction.
गण्डूषं तिलतैलेन द्विजजार्ढ्यकरं परं । विड़ङ्गचूर्णं गोमूत्रं सर्व्वंत्र कृमिनाशने ।। २७९.
Gargling with sesame oil greatly induces sluggishness in twice-born persons; viranga powder and cow urine are effective for destroying all intestinal worms.
धात्रीफलान्यथाज्यञ्च शिरोलेपनमुत्तमम् । शिरोरोगविनाशाय स्रिग्धमुष्णञ्च भोजनम् ।। २७९.
A paste of amla fruit and clarified butter is the best application for the head; for the destruction of head diseases, oily and warm food is also recommended.
तैलं वा वस्तमूत्रञ्च कर्णपूरणमुत्तमम् । कर्णशूलविनाशाय सर्वशुक्तानि वा द्विज ।। २७९.
Oil or the urine of a camel is an excellent ear filling; for the destruction of ear pain, all kinds of pearls are also suitable, O Brahmin.
गिरिमृच्चन्दनं लाक्षा मालती कलिका तथा । संयोज्या या कृता वर्त्तिः क्षतशुक्रहरी तु सा ।। २७९.
Mountain clay, sandalwood, lac, and jasmine buds—when combined and made into a paste, it removes seminal wounds.
व्योषं त्रिफलया युक्तं तुच्छकञ्च तथा जलम् । सर्वाक्षिरोगशमनं तथा चैव रसाञ्जनम् ।। २७९.
Vyosha mixed with triphala, along with tucchaka and water, is effective for curing all eye diseases, as is rasanjana.
आज्यभृष्टं शिलापिष्टं लोध्रकाञ्जीकसैन्धवैः । आश्च्योतनाविनाशाय सर्वनेत्रामये हितम् ।। २७९.
Clarified butter roasted and ground on stone, mixed with lodhra, sour rice water, and rock salt, is beneficial for washing and curing all eye ailments.
गिरिमृच्चन्दनैर्लेपो वरिर्नेत्रस्य शस्यते । नेत्रामयविघातार्थं त्रिफलां शीलयेत् सदा ।। २७९.
A paste of mountain clay and sandalwood is recommended for the eyes; for the prevention of eye diseases, triphala should always be used.
रात्रौ तु मधुसर्पिभ्यां दीर्घमायुर्ज्जिजीविषुः । शतावरीरसे सिद्धौ वृष्यौ क्षीरघृतौ स्मृतौ ।। २७९.
At night, those desiring long life should use honey and clarified butter; shatavari juice prepared with milk and ghee is considered invigorating.
कलम्बिकानि माषाश्च वृष्यौ क्षीरघृतौ तथा । आयुष्या त्रिफला ज्ञेया पूर्ववन्मधुकान्विता ।। २७९.
Kalambika and mash beans are invigorating when prepared with milk and ghee; triphala is known to promote longevity, as previously stated, when combined with licorice.
मधुकादिरसोपेता बलीपलितनाशिनी । वचासिद्धघृतं विप्रं भूतदोषविनाशनम् ।। २७९.
Licorice and other juices impart strength and remove gray hair; clarified butter prepared with vacha, O Brahmin, destroys defects caused by spirits.
कव्यं बुद्धिप्रदञ्चैव तथा सर्वार्थसाधनम् । वलाकल्ककषायेण सिद्धमभ्यञ्जने हितम् ।। २७९.
Poetry brings intelligence and accomplishes all purposes; ointment prepared with valā and kalkakaṣāya is beneficial for massage.
रास्नासहचरैर्वापि तैलं वातविकारिणाम् । अनभिष्यन्दि यच्चान्नं तद्व्रणेषु प्रशस्यते ।। २७९.
Oil prepared with rasna and sahachara is recommended for disorders caused by wind; any food that does not cause obstruction is praised for wounds.
शक्तुपिण्डी तथैवाम्ला पाचनाय प्रशस्यते । पक्कस्य च तथा भेदे निम्बचूर्णञ्च रोपणे ।। २७९.
Shaktu cakes and sour foods are recommended for digestion; for ulcers and their healing, neem powder is also beneficial.
तथा शूच्युपचारश्च बलिकर्म विशेषतः । सूतिका च तथा रक्षा प्राणिनान्तु सदा हिता ।। २७९.
Likewise, proper cleaning and special sacrificial offerings are especially important; protection for women in childbirth is always beneficial for living beings.
भक्षणं निम्बपत्राणां सर्पदष्टस्य भेषजम् । तालनिम्बदलङ्केश्यं जीर्णन्तैलं यवा घृतम् ।। २७९.
Eating neem leaves is a remedy for snakebite; applying a mixture of palmyra and neem leaves, aged oil, barley, and ghee is also beneficial.
धूपो वृश्चिकदष्टस्य शिखिपत्रघृतेन वा । अर्कक्षीरेण संपिष्टं लोपा वीजं पलाशजं ।। २७९.
For scorpion stings, fumigation with peacock feather ghee, or applying a paste of arka milk with lotus seed and palasha seed, is effective.
वृश्चिकार्त्तस्य कृष्णा वा शिवा च फलसंयुता । अर्कक्षीरं लितं तैल पललञ्च गुड़ं समम् ।। २७९.
For scorpion affliction, black nightshade or shiva plant with fruit, mixed with arka milk, oil, and equal parts of clay and jaggery, is beneficial.
पानाज्जयति दुर्बारं श्वविषं शीघ्रमेव तु । पीत्वा मूलं त्रिवृत्तुल्यं तण्डुलीयस्य सर्पिषा ।। २७९.
By drinking the root of tandulīya, equal to trivrit, with ghee, one quickly overcomes the severe poison of rabid dog bite.
सर्पकीटविषाण्याशु जयत्यतिबलान्यपि । चन्दनं पद्मकङ्कुष्ठं तलाम्बूशीरपाटलाः ।। २७९.
Even the most potent poisons from snakes and insects are swiftly conquered by sandalwood, padmaka, kuṣṭha, palmyra, usira, and pāṭalā.
निर्गुण्डी शारिवा सेलुर्लूताविषहरो गदः । शिरोविरेचनं शस्तं गुड़नागरकं द्विज ।। २७९.
Nirgundi, shariva, selu, and lūta are remedies for poison; for cleansing the head, gur and nāgara are excellent, O twice-born one.
स्नेहपाने तथा वस्तौ तैलं घृतमनुत्तमम् । स्वेदनीयः परो वह्निः शीताम्भः स्तम्भनं परम् ।। २७९.
For internal oleation and enemas, the best oil and ghee should be used; strong fomentation with fire is recommended, and cold water is the supreme astringent.
त्रिवृद्धि रेचने श्रेष्ठा वमने मदनं तथा । वस्तिर्विरेको वमनं तैलं सर्पिस्तथा मधु ।। २७९.
Trivrit is best for purgation, madana for emesis; enema, purgation, emesis, oil, ghee, and honey are all used accordingly.
