मातुलङ्गरसाजातिशुष्कमूलकसैन्धवाः । कुष्ठिनाञ्च तता शस्तं पानार्थे खदिरोदकं ।। २७९.
Juice of matulunga, jati, dried roots, and rock salt; for those with skin diseases, water infused with khadira is suitable for drinking.
मसूरमुद्गौ पेयार्थे भोज्या जीर्णाश्च शालयः । निम्बपर्पटकैः शाकैर्ज्जाङ्गलानां तथा रसः ।। २७९.
Lentils and mung beans are suitable as gruel, and well-cooked rice as food; with neem and parpata greens, and the juice of wild animals.
विडङ्गं मरिचं मुस्तं कुष्ठं लोध्रं सुवर्च्चिका । मनः शिला च वालेयः कुष्ठहा मूत्रपेषितः ।। २७९.
Vidanga, black pepper, musta, kustha, lodhra, suvarcika, manashila, and valerian—when pounded with urine, these destroy skin diseases.
अपूपकुष्ठकुल्माषयवाद्या मेहिनां हिताः । यवान्नविकृतिर्मुद्गा कुलत्था जीर्णशालयः ।। २७९.
Cakes, preparations of kustha, kulmasha, barley, and similar foods are beneficial for those with urinary disorders; barley, mung beans, horse gram, and well-cooked rice are suitable.
तिक्तरुक्षाणि शाकानि तिक्तानि हरितानि च । तैलानि तिलशिग्रुकविभीतकेङ्गुदानि च ।। २७९.
Bitter and dry vegetables, and bitter greens; oils of sesame, mustard, vibhitaka, and inguda are also suitable.
मुद्गाः सयवगोधूमा धान्यं वर्षस्थितञ्च यत् । जाङ्गलस्य रसः शस्तो भोजने राजयक्ष्मिणां ।। २७९.
Mung beans with barley and wheat, and grains stored for a year; the juice of wild animals is best for food in cases of consumption.
कौलत्थमौद्गको रास्नाशुष्कमूलकजाङ्गलैः । पूपैर्वा विस्किरैः सिद्धैर्दधिदाड़िमसाधितैः ।। २७९.
One should use horse gram, black gram, rasna, dried roots, wild meats, or with flowers, or with grains prepared and seasoned with curd and pomegranate.
मातुलङ्गरसक्षौद्रद्राक्षाव्योषादिसंस्कृतैः । यवगोधूमशाल्यन्नैर्भोज्येच्छ्वासकासिनं ।। २७९.
Food prepared with the juice of citron, honey, grapes, long pepper, and other such ingredients, as well as barley, wheat, and rice, should be given to one suffering from breathlessness and cough.
दशमूलवलारास्नाकुलत्थैरुपसाधिताः । पेयाः पूपरसाः क्काथाः श्वासहिक्कानिवारणा ।। २७९.
Gruels, soups, and decoctions prepared with ten roots, bala, rasna, and horse gram are remedies for breathlessness and hiccups.
शुष्कमूलककौलत्थमूलजाह्गलजै रसैः । यवगोधूमशाल्यन्नं जीर्णं सोशीरमाचरेत् ।। २७९.
Rice, wheat, and barley that have been digested should be taken with the juice of dried roots, horse gram, and wild roots, along with usira.
शोथवान् सगुड़ां पथ्यां खादेद्वा गुड़नागरम् । तक्रञ्च चित्रकञ्चोभौ ग्रहणीरोगनाशनौ ।। २७९.
A person with swelling should eat pathya with gur and ginger, as well as buttermilk and citraka—both are remedies for diseases of the digestive tract.
पुराणयवगोधूमशालयो जाङ्गलो रसः । मुद्गामलकखर्जूरमृद्वीकावदराणि च ।। २७९.
Old barley, wheat, and rice, the juice of wild meats, and also mudga, amalaki, dates, grapes, and badara are recommended.
मधु सर्पिः पयः शक्र निम्बपर्पटकौ वृषम् । तक्रारिष्टाश्च शस्यन्ते सततं वातरोगिणाम् ।। २७९.
Honey, ghee, milk, sugar, neem, parpata, buttermilk, and arishta are always beneficial for those afflicted by wind disorders.
हृद्रोगिणो विरेच्यास्तु पिप्पल्यो हिक्किनां हिताः । तक्रावलालसिन्धूनि मुक्तानि शिशिराम्भसा ।। २७९.
For those with heart disease, purgation should be done; long pepper is beneficial for hiccups. Buttermilk, valāla, and sindhu, cooled with cold water, are to be used.
मुक्ताः सौवर्चलाजादि मद्यं शस्तं मदात्यये । सक्षोद्रपयसा लाक्षआं पिवेच्च क्षचवान्नरः ।। २७९.
Pearls, black salt, and such are good for intoxication; one should drink lac with honey and milk to relieve vomiting.
क्षयं मांसरसाहारो वह्निसंरक्षणाज्जयेत् । शालयो भोजने रक्ता नीवारकलमादयः ।। २७९.
Tuberculosis is overcome by a diet of meat broths, which protect the digestive fire; in meals, red rice, nivara, and kalama are to be taken.
यवान्नविकृतिर्म्मांसं शाकं सौवर्चलं शटी । पथ्या तथैवार्शसां यन्मण्डं तक्रञ्च वारिणा ।। २७९.
Barley preparations, meat, vegetables, black salt, and shati are wholesome; likewise, for hemorrhoids, one should take gruel or buttermilk with water.
मुस्ताभ्यासस्तथा लोपश्चित्रकेण हरिद्रया । यवान्नविकृतिः शालिर्व्वास्तूकं ससुवर्च्चलम् ।। २७९.
The use of musta, as well as lopa with citraka and turmeric, barley preparations, rice, and vāstuka with black salt, is recommended.
त्रपुषैर्वारुगोधूमाः क्षीरेक्षुघृतसंयुताः । मूत्रकृच्छ्रे च शस्ताः स्युः पाने मण्डसुरादयः ।। २७९.
Barley and wheat with tin, mixed with milk, sugarcane juice, and ghee, are good for difficulty in urination; for drinking, gruel and sura are suitable.
लाजाः शक्तुस्तथा क्षौद्रं शूल्यं मांसं परूषकम् । वार्त्ताकुलावशिखिनश्छर्द्दिघ्नाः पानकानि च ।। २७९.
Puffed rice, śaktu, honey, roasted meat, parushaka, brinjal, kulāva, and shikhin, as well as drinks, are remedies for vomiting.
शाल्यन्नन्तोयपयसी केवलोष्णे श्रृतेऽपि वा । तृष्णाघ्ने मुस्तगुड़योर्गुटिका वा मुखे धृता ।। २७९.
Rice cooked with plenty of water or milk, or even simply with hot water, quenches thirst; or one may hold a tablet of musta and gur in the mouth.
यवान्नविकृतिः पूपं शुष्कमूलकजन्तथा । शाकं पटोलवेत्राग्रमुरुस्तम्भविनाशनम् ।। २७९.
Barley preparations, cakes, dried roots, and vegetables such as patola and vetra shoots remove stiffness.
मुद्गाढ़कमसूराणां सतिलैर्जाङ्गलै रसैः । ससैन्धवघृतद्राक्षाशुण्ठ्यामलककोलजैः ।। २७९.
Mudga, arhar, and masura, with sesame, wild meat juices, rock salt, ghee, grapes, dry ginger, amalaki, and kola, are to be used.
यूषैः पुराणगोधूमयवशाल्यन्नमभ्यसेत् । विसर्पी ससिताक्षौद्रमृद्वीकादाड़िमोदकम् ।। २७९.
One should use soups of old wheat, barley, and rice; for those with erysipelas, a sweet made of sesame, honey, grapes, and pomegranate is beneficial.
रक्तयष्टिकगोधूमयवमुद्गादिकं लघु । काकमारी च वेत्राग्रं वास्तुकञ्च सुवर्च्चला ।। २७९.
Red sugarcane, wheat, barley, and mung beans are light; kakamari, the tip of vetra, vastuka, and suvarcalā as well.
वातशोणितनाशाय तोयं शस्तं मधु । नाशारोगेषु च हितं घृतं दुर्व्वाप्रसाधितम् ।। २७९.
For the destruction of wind and blood disorders, water mixed with honey is recommended; clarified butter prepared with durva grass is beneficial in diseases without cure.
भृङ्गराजरसे सिद्धं तैलं धात्रीरसेऽपि वा । नश्यं सर्वामयेष्विष्टं मूर्द्धजन्तूद्भवेषु च ।। २७९.
Oil prepared with bhringaraja juice or with amla juice is desirable as nasal medicine for all ailments and for those arising from scalp parasites.
शीततोयान्नपानञ्च तिलानां विप्र भक्षणम् । द्विजजाढर्यकरं प्रोक्तं तथा तुष्टिकरम्परम् ।। २७९.
Cold water, food, and drink, as well as the consumption of sesame seeds, O Brahmin, are said to cause sluggishness in twice-born persons, and also bring satisfaction.
गण्डूषं तिलतैलेन द्विजजार्ढ्यकरं परं । विड़ङ्गचूर्णं गोमूत्रं सर्व्वंत्र कृमिनाशने ।। २७९.
Gargling with sesame oil greatly induces sluggishness in twice-born persons; viranga powder and cow urine are effective for destroying all intestinal worms.
धात्रीफलान्यथाज्यञ्च शिरोलेपनमुत्तमम् । शिरोरोगविनाशाय स्रिग्धमुष्णञ्च भोजनम् ।। २७९.
A paste of amla fruit and clarified butter is the best application for the head; for the destruction of head diseases, oily and warm food is also recommended.
