सुदंष्ट्रश्च सुवासश्च धृष्टोऽभूदसमौजसः। गान्धारी चैव माद्री च धृष्टभार्य्ये बभूवतुः ।। २७५.
Sudaṃṣṭra, Suvāsa, and Dhṛṣṭa were born of Asamaujas. Gāndhārī and Mādrī became the wives of Dhṛṣṭa.
सुमित्रोऽभूच्च गान्धार्य्यां माद्री जज्ञे युधाजितम् । अनमित्रः शिनिर्धृष्टात्ततो वै देवमीढुषः ।। २७५.
Sumitra was born from Gāndhārī, and from Mādrī came Yudhājit. From Dhṛṣṭa came Anamitra and Śini, and from them Devamīḍhuṣa.
अनमित्रसुतो निघ्नो निघ्नस्यापि प्रसेनकः । सत्राजितः प्रसेनोऽथ मणिं सूर्य्यात् स्यमन्तकम् ।। २७५.
Anamitra's son was Nighna, and Nighna's son was Prasenaka. Satrājit and Prasena were his sons, and from the Sun they obtained the jewel Syamantaka.
प्राप्यारण्ये चरन्तन्तु सिंहो हत्वाऽग्रहीन्मणिं । हतो जाम्बतवता सिंहो जाम्बवान् हरिणा जितः ।। २७५.
While wandering in the forest, a lion killed them and took the jewel. The lion was slain by Jāmbavat, and Jāmbavat was conquered by Hari.
तस्मान्मणिं जाम्बवतीं प्राप्यागाद्द्वारकां पुरीम् । सत्राजिताय प्रददौ शतधन्वा जघान् तम् ।। २७५.
From him, the jewel and Jāmbavatī were obtained, and he went to the city of Dvārakā. He gave them to Satrājit, but Śatadhanvā killed him.
हत्वा शतधनुं कृषणो मणिमादाय कीर्त्तिभाक् । बलयादवमुख्याग्रे अक्रूरान्मणिमर्पयेत् ।। २७५.
Having slain Śatadhanvā, Kṛṣṇa took the jewel and gained fame. In the presence of the leaders of the Yādavas, he gave the jewel to Akrūra.
मिथ्याभिशस्तिं कृष्णस्य त्यक्त्वा स्वर्गी च सम्पठन् । सत्राजितो भङ्गकारः सत्यभामा हरेः प्रिया ।। २७५.
After the false accusation against Kṛṣṇa was abandoned, Satrājit attained heaven. Satyabhāmā, beloved of Hari, was the cause of Satrājit's death.
अनमित्राच्छिनिर्जज्ञे सत्यकस्तु शिनेः सुतः । सत्यकात्सात्यकिर्जज्ञे युयुधानाद्धुनिर्ह्यभूत् ।। २७५.
From Anamitra came Śini; Satyaka was the son of Śini. From Satyaka was born Sātyaki, and from Yuyudhāna came Huni.
धुनेर्युगन्धरः पुत्रः स्वाह्योऽभूत स युधाजितः । ऋषभक्षेत्रकौ तस्य ह्यृषबाच्च स्वफल्ककः ।। २७५.
Dhuneri Yugandhara's son was Svāhya, who became Yudhājit; his sons were Ṛṣabha and Kṣetraka, and from Ṛṣabha came Svaphalkaka.
स्वफल्कपुत्रो ह्यक्रूरो अक्रूरच्च सूधन्वकः । शूरात्तु वसुदेवाद्याः पृथा पाण्डोः प्रियाऽभवत् ।। २७५.
Svaphalka's son was Akrūra, and from Akrūra came Sūdhanvaka; from Śūra were born Vasudeva and others, and Pṛthā became the beloved of Pāṇḍu.
धर्म्माद्युधिष्ठिरः पाण्डोर्वायोः कुन्त्यां वृकोदरः । इन्द्राद्धनञ्जयो माद्र्यां नकुलः सहदेवकः ।। २७५.
From Dharma, Yudhiṣṭhira was born to Pāṇḍu; from Vāyu, Vṛkodara (Bhīma) was born to Kuntī; from Indra, Dhanañjaya (Arjuna); and from Mādrī, Nakula and Sahadeva.
वसुदेवाच्च रोहिण्यां रामः सारणदुर्गमौ। वसुदेवाच्च देवक्यामादौ जातः सुसेनकः ।। २७५.
From Vasudeva and Rohiṇī were born Rāma, Sāraṇa, and Durgama; from Vasudeva and Devakī, first was born Susenaka.
कीर्तिमान् भद्रसेनश्च जारुख्यो विष्णुदासकः । भद्रदेहः कंश एतान् षड्गर्भान्निजघान ह ।। २७५.
Kīrtimān, Bhadrasena, Jārukhya, Viṣṇudāsaka, Bhadradeha, and Kaṃsa—these six embryos Kaṃsa killed.
ततो बलस्ततः कृष्णः सुभद्रा भद्रभाषिणी । चारुदेष्णश्च शाम्बाद्याः कृष्णाज्जाम्बवतीसुताः ।। २७५.
Then Balarāma, then Kṛṣṇa, Subhadrā the auspicious speaker, Cārudeṣṇa, Śāmba and others were born from Kṛṣṇa and Jāmbavatī.
अग्निरुवाच कश्यपो वसुदेवोऽभूद्देवकी चादितिर्व्वरा । देवक्यां वसुदेवात्तु कृष्णोऽभूत्तपसान्वितः ।। २७६.
Agni said: Kaśyapa became Vasudeva, and Devakī was the noble Aditi; from Vasudeva and Devakī was born Kṛṣṇa, endowed with ascetic power.
धर्म्मसंरक्षणार्थाय ह्यधर्म्महरणाय च । सुरादेः पालनार्थञ्च दैत्यादेर्म्मथनाय च ।। २७६.
For the protection of dharma, for the destruction of adharma, for the preservation of the gods, and for the subduing of the demons, He was born.
रुक्मिणी सत्यभामा च सत्या नग्नजिती प्रिया । सत्यभामा हरेः सेव्या गान्धारी लक्ष्मणा तथा ।। २७६.
Rukmiṇī, Satyabhāmā, Satyā, Nagnajitī the beloved, Satyabhāmā the cherished of Hari, Gāndhārī, and also Lakṣmaṇā—
मित्रविन्दा१ च कालिन्दी देवी जाम्बवती तथा । सुशीला च तथा माद्री कौशल्या विजया जया ।। २७६.
Mitravindā, Kālindī, the goddess Jāmbavatī, Suśīlā, also Mādrī, Kauśalyā, Vijayā, and Jayā—
एवमादीनि देवीनां सहस्राणि तु षोड़श । प्रद्युम्नाद्याश्च रुक्मिण्यां भीमाद्याः सत्यभामया ।। २७६.
In this way, there were sixteen thousand queens; Pradyumna and others from Rukmiṇī, Bhīma and others from Satyabhāmā.
जाम्बवत्याञ्च शाम्बाद्याः कृष्णस्यासंस्तथापरे । शतं शतसहस्राणां पुत्राणां तस्य धीमतः ।। २७६.
From Jāmbavatī came Śāmba and others; thus Kṛṣṇa had, in total, a hundred times a thousand sons, that wise one.
अशीतिश्च सहस्राणि यादवाः कृष्णरक्षिताः । प्रद्युम्नस्य तु वैदर्भ्यामनिरुद्धो रणप्रियः ।। २७६.
Eighty thousand Yādavas were protected by Kṛṣṇa; from Pradyumna and Vaidarbhī was born Aniruddha, lover of battle.
अनिरुद्धस्य वज्राद्या यादवाः सुमहावलाः । तिस्रः कोट्यो यादवानां षष्टिर्लक्षाणि दानवाः ।। २७६.
From Aniruddha came Vajra and other mighty Yādavas; there were three crores of Yādavas and sixty thousand Dānavas.
मनुष्ये बाधका ये तु नन्नाशाय बभूव सः । कर्त्तु कर्मव्यवस्थानं मनुष्यो जायते हरिः ।। २७६.
Those who were obstacles among men, he destroyed; Hari is born as a man to establish the order of duties.
देवासुराणां सङ्ग्रामा दायार्थं द्वादशाभवन् । प्रथमो नारसिंहस्तु द्वितीयो वामनो रणः ।। २७६.
There were twelve battles between gods and demons for the sake of inheritance; the first was the Nārasiṃha battle, the second was Vāmana's battle.
सङ्ग्रामस्त्वथ वाराहश्चतुर्थोऽमृतमन्थनः । तारकामयसङ्ग्रामः षष्ठो ह्याजीवको रणः ।। २७६.
Then came the Vārāha battle, the fourth was the churning for nectar; the Tārakāmaya battle, the sixth was the Ājīvaka battle.
त्रैपुरश्चान्धकबधो नवमो वृत्रघातकः । जितो हालाहलश्चाथ घोरः कोलाहलो रणः ।। २७६.
The Tripura battle, the slaying of Andhaka, the ninth was the slaying of Vṛtra; the defeat of Hālāhala, and then the dreadful Kolāhala battle.
हिरण्यकशिपोश्चोरो विदार्य्य च नखैः पुरा । नारसिंहो देवपालः प्रह्लादं कृतवान् नृपम् ।। २७६.
Long ago, Narasiṃha, the divine protector, tore apart Hiraṇyakaśipu with his claws and safeguarded Prahlāda, the king.
देवासुरे वामनश्च छतित्वा बलिमूर्ज्जतम् । महेन्द्राय ददौ राज्यं काश्यपोऽदितिसम्भवः ।। २७६.
In the conflict between gods and demons, Vāmana, born of Kaśyapa and Aditi, subdued Bali, the mighty one, and gave the kingdom to Mahendra.
वराहस्तु हिरण्याक्षं हत्वा देवानपालयत् । उज्जहार भुवं मग्नां देवदेवैरभिष्टुतः ।। २७६.
Varāha, after slaying Hiraṇyākṣa, protected the gods; praised by the divine hosts, he lifted the earth that had been submerged.
मन्थानं मन्दरं कृत्वा नेत्रं कृत्वा तु वासुकिम् । सुरासुरैश्च मथितं२ देवेभ्यश्चामृतं ।। २७६.
Using Mandara as the churning rod and Vāsuki as the rope, the gods and demons churned, and nectar was obtained for the gods.
