दिक् सर्व्वा राजवर्य्यस्य गयस्य तु गयापुरी । वशिष्ठवाक्यात् सुद्युम्नः प्रतिष्ठानमवाप ह ।। २७३.
All directions belonged to the illustrious king Gaya; by Vasiṣṭha's command, Sudyumna obtained the city of Pratiṣṭhāna.
तत् पुरूरवसे प्रादात्सुद्युम्नो राज्यमाप्य तु । नरिष्यतः शकाः पुत्रा नाभागस्य च वैष्णवः ।। २७३.
Sudyumna, having obtained the kingdom, gave it to Purūravas; Nariṣyanta's sons were the Śakas, and Nābhāga's was Vaiṣṇava.
अम्बरीषः प्रजापालो धार्ष्टकं धृष्टतः कुलम् । सुकल्गनर्त्तौ शर्य्यातेर्वैरोह्यानर्त्ततो नृपः ।। २७३.
Ambarīṣa was the protector of the people; from Dhṛṣṭa came the Dhārṣṭaka lineage; from Śaryāti, Sukalga and Narttu, and from Anarta, King Vairohya.
अनार्त्तविषयश्चासीत् पुरी चासीत् कुशस्थली । रेवस्य रैवतः पुत्रः ककुद्मी नाम धार्मिकः ।। २७३.
There was the land of Anarta, and the city called Kuśasthalī; Reva's son was Raivata, named Kakudmī, righteous in conduct.
ज्येष्ठः पुत्रशतस्यासीद्राज्यं प्राप्य [https://vedastudy.yolasite.com/kusha1.php कुशस्थलीम्] । स कन्यासहितः श्रुत्वा गान्धर्व्वं ब्रह्मणोऽन्तिके ।। २७३.
He was the eldest of a hundred sons, and, having obtained the kingdom of Kuśasthalī, he went with his daughter to hear the Gandharva music before Brahmā.
मुहूर्त्तभूतं देवस्य मर्त्ये बहुयुगं गतम् । आजगाम जवेनाथ स्वां पुरीं यादवैर्वृताम् ।। २७३.
For the gods, a moment passed, but for mortals, many ages went by; then, swiftly, he returned to his own city, now filled with Yādavas.
कृतां द्वारवतीं नाम बहुद्वारां मनोरमाम् । भोजवृष्णयन्धकैर्गुप्तां वासुदेवपुरोगमैः ।। २७३.
He found the city named Dvāravatī, beautiful with many gates, protected by the Bhojas, Vṛṣṇis, and Andhakas, with Vāsudeva at their head.
रेवतीं बलदेवाय ददौ ज्ञात्वा ह्यनिन्दिताम । तपः सुमेरुशिखरे तप्त्वा विष्णवालयं गतः ।। २७३.
Knowing her to be blameless, he gave Revatī to Baladeva; after performing austerities on Mount Sumeru, he went to Viṣṇu's abode.
नाभागस्य च पुत्रौ द्वौ वैश्यौ ब्राह्मणातां गतौ । करूषस्य तु कारूषाः क्षत्रिया युद्धदुर्म्मदाः ।। २७३.
Nābhāga had two sons, both Vaiśyas who attained Brāhmaṇa status; and from Karūṣa came the Kārūṣas, Kṣatriyas fierce in battle.
शूद्रत्वञ्च पृषध्रोऽगाद्धिंसयित्वा गुरोश्च गाम् । मनुपुत्रादथेक्षआकोर्विकुक्षइर्देवराडभूत् ।। २७३.
Pṛṣadhra became a Śūdra after killing his teacher’s cow; and from Manu’s son Ikṣvāku, Devarāṭ was born from Vikukṣi.
विकुक्षेस्तु ककुत्स्थोऽभूत्तस्य पुत्रः सुयोधनः । तस्य पुत्रः पृथुर्न्नाम विश्वगश्वः पृथोः सुतः ।। २७३.
From Vikukṣi came Kakutstha, whose son was Suyodhana; his son was Pṛthu, and Viśvagaśva was the son of Pṛthu.
आयुस्तस्य च पुत्रोऽभुत्तस्य पुत्रः सुथोधनः । तस्य पुत्रः पृथुर्न्नाम विश्वगश्वः पृथोः सुतः ।। २७३.
Āyuṣ was his son, whose son was Suthodhana; his son was Pṛthu, and Viśvagaśva was the son of Pṛthu.
श्रावन्ताद् वृहदश्वोऽभूत कुबलाश्वस्ततो नृपः । धुन्धुमारत्वमगमद्धुन्धोर्न्नाम्ना च वै पुरा ।। २७३.
From Śrāvanta came Vṛhadaśva; from him, Kubalāśva, and then the king Dhundhumāra, who was formerly called Dhundhu.
धुन्धुमारास्त्रयो भूपा दृढ़ाश्वो दण्ड एव च । कपिलोऽथ दृढ़ाश्वात्तु हर्य्यश्वश्च चप्रमोदकः ।। २७३.
Dhundhumāra had three sons: Dṛḍhāśva, Daṇḍa, and Kapila; from Dṛḍhāśva came Haryaśva and Pramodaka.
हर्यश्वाच्च निकुम्भोऽभूत् संहताश्वो निकुम्भतः । अकृशाश्वश्च संहताश्वसुतावुभौ ।। २७३.
From Haryaśva came Nikumbha; from Nikumbha, Saṃhatāśva; and from Saṃhatāśva, both Akṛśāśva and Saṃhatāśva’s sons.
युवनाश्वो रणाश्वस्य मान्धाता युवनाश्वतः । मान्धातुः पुरुकुत्सोऽभून्मुचुकुन्दो द्वितीयकः ।। २७३.
Yuvanāśva was the son of Raṇāśva; from Yuvanāśva came Māndhātṛ; from Māndhātṛ, Purukutsa, and Mucukunda as the second son.
पुरुकुत्सादसस्युश्च सम्भूतो नर्मदाभवः । सम्भूतस्य सुधन्वाऽभूत्त्रिधन्वाथ सुधन्वनः ।। २७३.
From Purukutsa came Trasadasyu, born of Narmadā; from Trasadasyu, Sudhanvā was born, and from Sudhanvā, Tridhanvā.
त्रिधन्वनस्तु तरुणस्तस्य सत्यव्रतः सुतः । सत्यव्रतात्सत्यरथो हरिश्चन्द्रश्च तत् सुतः ।। २७३.
From Tridhanvā came Taruṇa, whose son was Satyavrata; from Satyavrata came Satyaratha, and his son was Hariścandra.
हरिश्चन्द्राद्रोहिताश्वो रोहिताश्वाद्वृकोऽभवत् । वृकाद्वाहुश्च वाहोश्च सगरस्तस्य च प्रिया ।। २७३.
From Hariścandra came Rohitāśva; from Rohitāśva, Vṛka was born; from Vṛka, Vāhu, and from Vāhu, Sagara, whose beloved wife was Prabhā.
प्रबा षष्टिसहस्राणां सुतानां जननी ह्यऽभूत् । तुष्टादौर्वान्नृपादेकं भानुमत्यसमञ्जसम् ।। २७३.
Prabhā became the mother of sixty thousand sons; from Tuṣṭā and Aurvā, Bhānumatī bore Asamañjasa as the only king.
खनन्तः पृथिवीं दग्धा विष्णुना बहुसागराः । असमञ्जसोंऽशुमांश्च दिलीपोंऽशुमतोऽभवत् ।। २७३.
Digging the earth, the many sons were burned by Viṣṇu; Asamañjasa’s son was Aṃśumān, and from Aṃśumān came Dilīpa.
भगीरथो दिलीपात्तु येन गङ्गावतारिता । भगीरथात्तु नाभागो नाभागादम्बरीषकः ।। २७३.
From Dilīpa came Bhagīratha, by whom the Gaṅgā was brought down; from Bhagīratha came Nābhāga, and from Nābhāga, Ambarīṣa.
सिन्धुद्वीपोऽम्बरीषात्तु श्रुतायुस्तत्सुतः स्मृतः । श्रुतायोर्ऋतपर्णोऽभूत्तस्य कल्माषपादकः ।। २७३.
From Ambarīṣa came Sindhudvīpa, whose son was Śrutāyu; from Śrutāyu came Ṛtaparṇa, and from him, Kalmāṣapāda.
कल्माषाङ्घ्रेः सर्व्वकर्म्मा ह्यनरण्यस्ततोऽभवत् । अनरण्यात्तु निघ्नोऽथ अनमित्रस्ततो रघुः ।। २७३.
From Kalmāṣapāda, called Kalmāṣāṅghri, came Anaraṇya, master of all deeds; from Anaraṇya, Nighna, and from him, Anamitra, then Raghu.
रघोरभूद्दिलीपस्तु दिलीपाच्चाप्यजो नृपः । दीर्घवाहुरजात् कालस्त्वजापालस्ततोऽभवत् ।। २७३.
From Raghu came Dilīpa, and from Dilīpa, King Aja; from Aja, Dīrghavāhu, and from him, Kāla, then Ajāpāla.
तथा दशरथो जातस्तस्य पुत्रचतुष्टयम् । नारायणात्मकाः सर्वे रामस्तस्याग्रजोऽभवत् ।। २७३.
Thus was born Daśaratha, who had four sons; all were of the essence of Nārāyaṇa, and Rāma was his eldest.
रावणान्तकरो राजा ह्ययोध्यायां रघूत्तमः । वाल्मीकिर्यस्य चरितं चक्रे तन्नारदश्रवात् ।। २७३.
The king who destroyed Rāvaṇa, the best of the Raghu lineage in Ayodhyā—Vālmīki composed his story after hearing it from Nārada.
रामपुत्रौ कुशलवौ सीतायां कुलवर्द्धनौ । अतिथिश्च कुशाज्जज्ञे निषधस्तस्य चात्मजः ।। २७३.
Rāma's sons, Kuśa and Lava, born of Sītā, increased the family line; and from Kuśa was born Atithi, whose son was Niṣadha.
निषधात्तु नलो जज्ञे नभोऽजायत वै नलात् । नभसः पुण्डरीकोऽभूत् सुधन्वा च ततोऽभवत् ।। २७३.
From Niṣadha was born Nala; from Nala, Nabha was born; from Nabha came Puṇḍarīka, and from him Sudhanvan arose.
सुधन्वनो देवानीको ह्यहीनाश्वश्च तुत्सुतः । अहीनाश्वात् सहस्राश्वश्चन्द्रालोकस्ततोऽभवत् ।। २७३.
Sudhanvan's son was Devānīka, and Ahīnāśva was his son; from Ahīnāśva came Sahasrāśva, and then Candrāvaloka was born.
