ध्वजं पताकां धर्म्मज्ञ कालज्ञस्त्वभिभन्त्रयेत् । अमिमन्त्रय ततः सर्व्वन् कुर्य्यात् कुञ्जरघूर्गतान् ।। २६८.
One who knows righteousness and the proper time should raise the banner and the flag; then, having summoned all, he should arrange those who are mounted on elephants and chariots.
कुञ्जरोपरिगौ स्यातां सांवत्सरपुरोहितौ । मन्त्रितांश्च समारुह्य तोरणेन विनिर्गमेत् ।। २६८.
The two chief priests for the year should be placed upon the elephant; having mounted those who have been consecrated, let him depart through the gateway.
निष्क्रम्य नागमारुह्य तोरणेनाथ निर्गमेत् । बलिं विभज्य विधिवद्राजा कुञ्जरधूर्गतः ।। २६८.
Having gone out, he should mount the elephant and then depart through the gateway; the king, seated on the elephant, should distribute the offering according to the proper rite.
उन्मूकानान्तु निचयमादीपितदिगन्तरं । राजा प्रदक्षइणं कुय्यात्त्रीन् वारान् सुसमाहितः ।। २६८.
The king, with focused mind, should circumambulate three times those who are mute, the assembly, and the directions that have been indicated.
चतुरङ्गबलोपेतः सर्वसैन्येन नादयन् । एवं कृत्वा गृहं गच्छेद्विसर्जितजलाञ्जलिः ।। २६८.
Accompanied by the fourfold army, resounding with all his forces, having done thus, he should return home, having offered water in farewell.
पुष्कर उवाच छत्रादिमन्त्रान् वक्ष्यामि यैस्तत् पूज्य जयादिकम् । ब्रह्मणः सत्यवाक्येन सोमस्य वरुणस्य च ।। २६९.
Puṣkara said: I will declare the mantras for the umbrella and the like, by which victory and other blessings are to be worshipped, with the truthful words of Brahmā, Soma, and Varuṇa.
सूर्य्यस्य च प्रभावेन वर्द्धस्व त्वं महामते । पाण्डराभप्रतीकाश हिमकुन्देन्दुसुप्रभ ।। २६९.
By the radiance of the Sun, may you increase, O wise one, shining with a white hue like snow, jasmine, and the full moon.
यथाम्बुदश्छादयते शिवायैनां वसुन्धरां । तथाच्छादय राजानं विजयारोग्यवृद्धये ।। २६९.
Just as a cloud covers the earth for her welfare, so may you cover the king for his victory, health, and growth.
गन्धर्वकुलजातस्त्वं माभूयाः कुलदूषकः । ब्रह्मणः सत्यवाक्येन सोमस्य वरुणस्य च ।। २६९.
Born of the lineage of the Gandharvas, may you not bring disgrace to your family; by the truthful words of Brahmā, Soma, and Varuṇa.
प्रभावाच्च हुताशस्य वर्द्धस्व त्वं तुरङ्गम । तेजसा चैव सूर्य्यस्य मुनीनां तपसा तथा ।। २६९.
By the power of Agni, may you increase, O horse, and by the radiance of the Sun, and also by the austerity of the sages.
रुद्रस्य ब्रह्मचर्य्येण पवनस्य बलेन च । स्मर त्वं राजपुत्रोऽसि कौस्तुभन्तु मणिं स्मर ।। २६९.
By the celibacy of Rudra and the strength of the wind, remember that you are a prince; remember the Kaustubha jewel.
यां गतिं ब्रहाहा गच्छेत् पितृहा मातृहा मातृहा तथा । भूम्यर्थेऽनृतवादी च क्षत्रियश्च पराङ्मुखः ।। २६९.
The path which a Brahmin-slayer, a father-slayer, a mother-slayer, one who speaks falsehood for the sake of land, and a Kṣatriya who flees the battlefield attains—
ब्रजेस्त्वन्तां गतिं क्षिप्रं मा तत् पापं भवेत्तव । विकृतिं मापगच्छेस्त्वं युद्धेऽध्वनि तुरङ्गम ।। २६९.
May you not quickly reach that path; may that sin not be yours; may you not come to harm or deformity in battle or on the journey, O horse.
रिपून् विनिघ्नन् समरे सह भर्त्रा सुखी भव । शक्रकेतो महावीर्य्यः सुवर्णस्त्वामुपाश्रितः ।। २६९.
Slaying enemies in battle, be happy together with your master; Śakra's banner, of great might and golden, has taken refuge in you.
पतत्रिराड्वैनतेयस्तथा नारायणध्वजः । काश्यपेयोऽमृताहर्त्ता नागादिर्विष्णुवाहनः ।। २६९.
The king of birds, Garuḍa, the banner of Nārāyaṇa, the descendant of Kaśyapa, the bringer of nectar, the lord of serpents, and the vehicle of Viṣṇu—
अप्रमेयो दुराधर्षो रणे देवारिसूदनः । महाबलो महावेगे महाकायोऽमृताशनः ।। २६९.
Immeasurable, invincible, destroyer of the gods' enemies in battle, of great strength, great speed, great body, and eater of nectar—
गरुत्माम्मारुतगतिस्त्वयि सन्निहितः स्थितः । विष्णुना देवदेवेन शक्रार्थं स्थापितो ह्यसि ।। २६९.
Garuḍa, with the speed of the wind, is present and established in you; you have been placed by Viṣṇu, the god of gods, for the sake of Indra.
जयाय भव मे नित्यं वृद्धयेऽथ बलस्य च । साश्ववर्मायुधान्योधान् रक्षास्माकं रिपून् दह ।। २६९.
Be always for my victory, for the increase of strength; protect us, together with horses, armor, weapons, and warriors; burn up our enemies.
कुमुदैरावणौ पद्मः पुष्पदन्तोऽथ वामनः २६९.
Kumuda, Airavana, Padma, Puspadanta, and Vamana.
तेषां पुत्राश्च पौत्राश्च बलान्यष्टौ समाश्रिताः । भद्रो मन्दो मृगश्चैव गजः संकीर्ण एव च ।। २६९.
Their sons and grandsons, eight in strength, are supported: Bhadra, Manda, Mriga, Gaja, and Samkirna as well.
वने वने प्रसूतास्ते स्मर योनिं महागजाः । पान्तु त्वां वसवो रुद्रा आदित्याः समरुद्गणाः ।। २६९.
Born in each forest, these great elephants remember their origin; may the Vasus, Rudras, Adityas, and the hosts of Maruts protect you.
भर्त्तारं रक्ष नागेन्द्र समयः परिपाल्यतां । ऐरावताधिरूढ़स्तु वज्रहस्तः शतक्रतुः ।। २६९.
Protect your master, O lord of serpents, and keep the agreement; Indra, wielder of the thunderbolt, mounted on Airavana.
पृष्ठतोऽनुगतस्त्वेष रक्षतु त्वां स देवराट् । अवाप्नुहि जयं युद्धे सुस्थश्चैव सदा व्रज ।। २६९.
Following behind, may this king of the gods protect you; attain victory in battle and always proceed in good health.
अवाप्नुहि बलञ्चैव ऐरावतसमं युधि । श्रीस्ते सोमाद्बलं विष्णोस्तेजः सूर्य्याज्जवोऽनिलात् ।। २६९.
Gain strength in battle equal to Airavana; may you have prosperity from Soma, strength from Vishnu, brilliance from the Sun, and swiftness from the Wind.
स्थैर्य्यं गिरेर्जयं रुद्राद् यशो देवात् पुरन्दरात् । युद्धे रक्षन्तु नागास्त्वां दिशश्च सह दैवतैः ।। २६९.
May you have steadiness from the mountain, victory from Rudra, fame from the god Purandara; in battle, may the elephants and the directions with their deities protect you.
अश्विनौ सह गन्धर्वैः पान्तु त्वां सर्वतो दिशः । मनवो वसवो रुद्रा वायुः सोमो महर्षयः ।। २६९.
May the Ashvins together with the Gandharvas protect you on all sides; the Manus, Vasus, Rudras, Vayu, Soma, and great sages.
नागकिन्नरगन्धर्वयक्षभूतगणा ग्रहाः । प्रमथास्तु सहादित्यैर्भूतेशो मातृभिः सह ।। २६९.
The hosts of Nagas, Kinnaras, Gandharvas, Yakshas, Bhutas, and planets; the Pramathas with the Adityas, and Bhutesha with the Mothers.
शक्रः सेनापतिः स्कन्दो वरुणश्चाश्रितस्त्वयि । प्रदहन्तु रिपून् सर्वान् राजा विजयमृच्छतु ।। २६९.
Shakra, Skanda the commander, and Varuna are your protectors; may they burn all your enemies, and may the king obtain victory.
यानि प्रयुक्तान्यरिभिर्भूषणानि समन्ततः । पतन्तु तव शत्रणां हतानि तव तेजसा ।। २६९.
Whatever ornaments have been employed by enemies all around, let them fall, struck down by your radiance, upon your foes.
कालनेमिबधे यद्वत् युद्धे त्रिपुरघातने । हिरण्यकशिपोर्युद्धे बधे सर्वासुरेषु च ।। २६९.
Just as in the slaying of Kalanemi, in the destruction of Tripura in battle, in the fight with Hiranyakashipu, and in the slaying of all the asuras.
