रूपं देहि यशो देहि सौभाग्यं सुभगे मम । पुत्रं देहि धनं देहि सर्व्वान् कामांश्च देहि मे ।। २६६.
Grant me beauty, grant me fame, grant me good fortune, O auspicious one; give me a son, give me wealth, and fulfill all my desires.
भोजयेद्ब्राह्मणान्दद्याद्वस्त्रयुग्मं गुरोरपि । विनायकं ग्रहान्प्रार्च्य श्रियं कर्म्मफलं लभेत् ।। २६६.
One should feed the brāhmaṇas and give a pair of garments even to the teacher; having worshipped Vināyaka and the planets, one attains prosperity and the fruit of the rite.
पुष्कर उवाच स्नानं माहेश्रं वक्ष्ये राजादेर्जयवर्द्धनम् । दानवेन्द्राय बलये यज्जगादोशनाः पुरा ।। २६७.
Puṣkara said: I shall explain the Māheśvara bath, which increases the victory of kings, which was once given by Uśanas to the lord of the Dānavas, Bali.
बास्करेऽनुदिते पीठे प्रातः संस्नापयेद् घटैः । ॐ नमो भगवते रुद्राय च बलाय च पाण्डरोचितभस्मानुलिप्तगायाय । तद्यथा जय जय सर्वान् शत्रून् मूकय कलहविग्रहविवादेषु भञ्जय । ॐ मथ मथ सर्व्वपथिकान् योसौ युगान्तकाले दिधक्षति इमां पूजां रौद्रमूर्त्तिः सहस्त्रांशुः शुक्लः स ते रक्षतु जीवतं । सम्बर्त्तकाग्नितुल्यश्च त्रिपुरान्तकरः शिवः । सर्वदेवमयः सोपि तव रक्षतु जीवितं लिखि लिखि खिलि स्वाहा २६७.
When the sun has not yet risen, on a seat, one should bathe in the morning with pots, reciting: 'Om, obeisance to the blessed Rudra, to Bala, to the one whose body is smeared with white ash; thus, victory, victory! Silence all enemies, break them in quarrels and disputes. Om, churn, churn all those on the path; that fierce form, the thousand-rayed one, who at the end of the age seeks to burn, may he protect this worship, may the pure one protect your life. May Shiva, like the fire of dissolution, the destroyer of Tripura, who is the essence of all gods, protect your life. Write, write, seal! Svāhā.'
पञ्चामृतैस्तु संस्नाप्य पूजयेच्छूलपाणिनं । स्नानान्यन्यानि वक्ष्यामि सर्वदा विजयाय ते ।। २६७.
Having bathed with the five nectars, one should worship the wielder of the trident; I shall describe other baths, always for your victory.
स्नानं घृतेन कथितमायुष्यवर्द्धनं परम् । गोमयेन च लक्ष्मीः स्याद् गोमूत्रेणाघमर्द्दनम् ।। २६७.
Bathing with ghee is said to greatly increase lifespan; with cow dung, one obtains prosperity; with cow urine, the destruction of sin.
क्षीरेण बलबुद्धिः स्याद्दध्ना लक्षअमीविवर्द्धनं । कुशोदकेन पापान्तः वञ्चगव्येन सर्वभाक् ।। २६७.
With milk, one gains strength and intelligence; with curd, prosperity increases; with water of kuśa grass, sins are ended; with five products of the cow, all is attained.
शतमूलेन सर्वाप्तिर्गोश्रृङ्गोदकतोऽर्घजित् । पलाशविल्वकमलकुशस्नानन्तु सर्व्वदं ।। २६७.
With water from śatamūla roots, all is obtained; with water from a cow's horn, one conquers enemies; bathing with palāśa, bilva, lotus, and kuśa brings all benefits.
वचा हरिद्रे द्वे मुस्तं स्नानं रक्षोहणं परं । आयुष्यञ्च यशस्यञ्च धर्म्ममेधाविवर्द्धनम् ।। २६८.
Bathing with vacā, two kinds of turmeric, and musta is supremely protective against harm, and increases lifespan, fame, virtue, and intelligence.
हैमाद्भिश्चैव माङ्गल्यं रूप्यताम्रोदकैस्तथा । रत्नोदकैस्तु विज्यः सौभाग्यञ्च प्रियङ्गुणा ।। २६८.
Bathing with golden water brings auspiciousness, with silver and copper water likewise; with water of jewels comes victory, and with priyangu seeds, good fortune.
फलाद्बिश्च तथारोग्यं धात्र्यद्भिः परमां श्रियम् । तिलसिद्धार्थकैर्ल्लक्ष्मीः सौभाग्यञ्च प्रियङ्गुणा ।। २६८.
Bathing with fruit water gives health, with water from the dhātrī fruit, supreme prosperity; with sesame and mustard, prosperity and good fortune with priyangu seeds.
पद्मोत्पलकदम्बैश्च श्रीर्बलं बलाद्रुमोदकैः । विष्णुपादोदकस्नानं सर्वस्नानेभ्य उत्तमम् ।। २६८.
Bathing with lotus, water-lily, and kadamba flowers brings prosperity; with water from the balā tree, strength; bathing with water from Viṣṇu's feet is the highest of all baths.
एकाकी एककामायेत्येकोर्कं१ विधिवच्चरेत् । अक्रन्दयति सूक्तेन प्रबध्नीयान्मणिं करे ।। २६८.
One who is alone, desiring solitude, should properly perform the rite at sunrise; fastening a jewel on the hand with the Akraṇḍayati hymn.
कुष्ठपाठा वचा शुण्ठी शङ्खलोहादिको मणिः । सर्व्वेषामेव कामानामीश्वरो भगवान् हरिः ।। २६८.
A jewel made of kuṣṭha, pāṭhā, vacā, dry ginger, and conch metal is lord of all desires; the blessed Hari is the lord of all.
तस्य संपूजनादेव सर्व्वान्कामान्समश्नुते । स्नापयित्वा घृतक्षीरैः पूजयित्वा च पित्तहा ।। २६८.
By worshipping him alone, one attains all desires; after bathing him with ghee and milk and honoring him, ailments of bile are removed.
पञ्चमुद्गबलिन्दत्वा अतिसारात् प्रमुच्यते । पञ्चगव्येन संस्नाप्य वातव्याधिं विनाशयेत् ।। २६८.
By offering five types of mudga beans, one is freed from diarrhea; bathing with five products from the cow dispels diseases caused by wind.
द्विस्रेहस्नपनात् श्लेष्मरोगहा चातिपूजया । घृतं तैलं तथा क्षौद्रं स्नानन्तु त्रिरसं परं ।। २६८.
Bathing twice with oils removes phlegmatic diseases, and with special worship; ghee, oil, and honey are used for bathing, which is considered supreme with three tastes.
स्नानं घृताम्बु द्विस्नेहं समलं घृततैलकम् । क्षौद्रमिक्षुरसं क्षीरं स्नानं त्रिमधुरं स्मृतम् ।। २६८.
Bathing with ghee-water and twice with oils, together with ghee and oil, honey, sugarcane juice, and milk is known as the bath of three sweetnesses.
घृतमिक्षुरसं तैलं क्षौद्रञ्च त्रिरसं श्रिये । अनुलेपस्त्रिशुक्लस्तु कर्पूरोशीरचन्दनैः ।। २६८.
Ghee, sugarcane juice, oil, and honey—these three tastes are for prosperity; the triple white ointment is made with camphor, usira, and sandalwood.
चन्दनागुरुकर्पूरमृगदर्पैः सकुङ्कुमैः । पञ्चानुलेपनं विष्णोः सर्वकामफलप्रदं ।। २६८.
Sandalwood, agarwood, camphor, musk, and saffron—these five ointments for Vishnu grant all desired results.
त्रिसुगन्धञअच कर्पूरं तथा चन्दनकुङ्कुमैः । मृगदर्पं सकर्पूरं मलयं सर्व्वकामदम् ।। २६८.
Three fragrant substances—camphor, sandalwood, and saffron; musk with camphor and Malaya sandal grant all desires.
जातीफलं सकर्पूरं चन्दनञ्च त्रिशीतकम् । पीतानि शुक्लवर्णानि तथा शुक्लानि भार्गव ।। २६८.
Nutmeg with camphor, sandalwood, and three types of cooling substances; yellow, white, and pure white, O Bhargava.
कृष्णानि चैव रक्तानि पञ्चवर्णानि निर्द्दिशेत् । उत्पलं पद्मजाती च त्रिशीतं हरिपूजने ।। २६८.
Black and red, five colors are specified; lotus, padma, and three cooling substances are used in the worship of Hari.
कुङ्कुमं रक्तपद्मानि त्रिरक्तं रक्तमुत्पलं । धूपदीपादिभिः प्रार्च्य विष्णुं शान्तिर्भवेन्नृणां ।। २६८.
Saffron, red lotuses, three reds, and red lotuses; by worshipping Vishnu with incense, lamps, and so forth, peace arises for people.
चतुरस्रकरे कुण्डे ब्राह्मणाश्चाष्ट षोडस । लक्षहोमङ्कोटिहोमन्तिलाज्ययवधान्यकैः ।। २६८.
In a quadrangular altar, Brahmins in groups of eight or sixteen perform homa with sesame, ghee, barley, and grains numbering lakhs and crores.
पुष्कर उवाच कर्म्म सांवत्सरं राज्ञां जन्मर्क्षे पूजयेच्च तं । मासि मासि च संक्रान्तौ सूर्य्यसोमादिदेवताः ।। २६८.
Puṣkara said: The king should worship that rite annually on his birth star; every month, at the solar transition, worship the deities beginning with the Sun and Moon.
अगस्त्यस्योदयेऽगस्त्यञ्चातुर्म्मास्यं हरिं यजेत् । शयनोत्थापने पञ्चदिनं कुर्य्यात्समुत्सवम् ।। २६८.
At the rising of Agastya, worship Agastya and Hari during the four months; for the festival of rising and resting, observe for five days.
प्रोष्ठपादे सिते पक्षे प्रतिपत्प्रभृतिक्रमात् । शिबिरात् पूर्वदिग्भागे शक्रार्थं भवनञ्चरेत् ।। २६८.
In the bright fortnight of Proṣṭhapada, beginning from the first day, in order, construct a dwelling for Indra in the eastern direction from the tent.
तत्र शक्रध्वजं स्थाप्य शचीं शक्रञ्च पूजयेत् । अष्टम्यां वाद्यघोषेण तान्तु यष्टिं प्रवेशयेत् ।। २६८.
There, establish Indra's banner and worship Śacī and Indra; on the eighth day, with the sound of instruments, bring in the thread staff.
एकादश्यां सोपवासो द्वादश्यां केतुमुत्थितम् । यजेद्वस्त्रादिसंवीतं घटस्थं सुरपं शचीं ।। २६८.
On the eleventh day, observe fasting; on the twelfth, raise the banner; worship the lord of gods and Śacī, adorned with cloth and so forth, placed in a pot.
