Thus, the vital installation is accomplished in the liṅga, fulfilling all purposes; now, the method of installation in the pedestal and so on is described.
The pedestal, having been bathed and anointed with sandal and other substances, should be covered with good cloths, and at the opening, at the mark of the yoni.
It should be joined with five gems and so on, placed to the north of the liṅga; having performed the installation as with the liṅga, one should worship it according to the proper method.
After bathing and other rites, a stone should be placed at the base of the liṅga; having performed the bathing and other consecrations, up to Śakti and also the bull.
With the syllable 'praṇava' at the beginning, followed by 'huṃ', 'pūṃ', 'hrīṃ', or any one of these in the middle, one should form a lump endowed with the power of action, having the form of a stone as its base.
Using ashes, darbha grass, and sesame seeds, one should construct three enclosures; for protection, one should worship the guardians of the directions, each armed, outside.
Recite: 'Oṃ hūṃ hraṃ, obeisance to the power of action; Oṃ hūṃ hrāṃ haḥ, O great and fair one, beloved of Rudra, svāhā,' upon the lump; 'Oṃ hāṃ, obeisance to the power of support; Oṃ hāṃ, obeisance to the bull.' Place the five goddesses: Dhārikā, radiant and fierce; Jyotsnā, powerful; Dhātrī and Vidhātrī likewise.
Place the three goddesses: Vāmā, Jyeṣṭhā, and the powers of action, knowledge, and division; similarly, action, knowledge, and will, as before, in the forms of peace.
Place the five: Darkness, Delusion, Patience, Completion, Death, and the fevers born of illusion; then the great delusions and the three fierce fevers.
Place the three goddesses—action, knowledge, and those who ward off obstacles—in the three principles beginning with the self, in their intense forms.
Here also, the lump should be placed on Brahma-stone and others as prescribed; perform everything as before, using the bindings of cow and others.
Having thus performed the placements, proceed to the vicinity of the fire-pit; in the center of the pit, place Maheśāna, and in the girdles, Maheśvara.
Place the power of action in the other girdles and at the root of the sound; arrange the pot with the fire-lord on the altar, at the junction of the nest.
Contemplate the power, equal to the thread of a lotus, rising with force, entering by the path of the sun, and emerging, flowing outward.
Again, contemplate it entering by the path of emptiness; thus, everywhere, the forms should be joined with one another.
After worshipping the supporting power and offering it in the fire-pit in order, one should offer the forms of the lords of the principles and their portions with ghee and other substances.
Having worshipped and offered oblations, in the presence of the assembled particles, one should perform the full or half oblation a hundred or a thousand times, together with the complete offering.
After offering to the forms of the lords of the principles and their portions, as well as the supporting ones, in the presence, the form-bearers should also make offerings.
Then, having satisfied the power with Brahmins and limbs, according to the materials and time, sprinkle water from the pot at the root of the kusa grass.
Touch the base of the liṅga for purification, along with Viṣṇu and others; perform everything as before, including the counting of oblations and recitations.
Thus, having purified Brahma and others for the purification of Viṣṇu and others, perform everything as before, including the counting of oblations and recitations.
By joining the tip of the kusa grass with the tip of the liṅga, touch it; now, the method of joining is explained here.
Oṃ hā ha o o o e o bhū bhū, homage to the form of vāhya; oṃ hā vā ā oṃ ā ṣā o bhū bhū vā, homage to the form of fire; thus, one should perform the ritual with the forms beginning with the yajamāna; in the case of the fivefold forms as well, the connection should be made with the heart and so on.
Either with the root or with one's own seed syllables, or with the threefold essence to be known; the stone lump on the bulls should be full or unbroken, and well bound.
For the sake of purity in the portions and non-portions, one should perform the homa a hundred times or more; to remove defects of deficiency or excess, one should perform a hundred and eight with the mantra of Śiva.
Having offered, one should then present the act performed into the ear of Śiva, saying: 'This act, endowed with these elements, has been performed by me according to my capacity, O Lord.'
Om, obeisance to the Blessed Rudra; O Rudra, salutations to you. Whether this is complete or incomplete according to the rite, may it be accepted, filled by your own power.
Om hrīṃ, O Śāṅkarī, fill it—svāhā: thus, in the piṇḍikā. Then, upon the liṅga, let the knower place the kriyā-designated seat-form.
Let him place the Śakti, who is the form of the support, upon the brahmaśilā stone, binding it for seven nights, or five nights, or three nights.
Or for one night, or even immediately as a consecration; for without consecration, even if the worship is performed, it does not yield fruit.
