यच्च ते परमं तत्त्वं यच्च ज्ञानमयं वपुः। तत् सर्वमेकतो लीनमस्मिन्देहे विबुध्यताम्
And that supreme reality of yours, and that form composed of knowledge—let all of that, as one, which is merged in this body, be awakened.
आत्मानं सन्निधीकृत्य ब्रह्मादिपरिवारकान्। स्वनाम्ना स्थापयेदन्यानायुधादीन् स्वमुद्रया
Having invoked the Self, and the retinue beginning with Brahma, let one establish the others by their own names, and weapons and so on, with their own seals.
यात्रावर्षादिकं दृष्ट्वा ज्ञेयः स्न्निहितो हरिः। नत्वा स्तुत्वा स्तवाद्यैश्च जप्त्वा चाष्टाक्षरादिकम्
Observing the auspicious journey and the like, one should know that Hari is present; having bowed, praised with hymns and the like, and recited the eight-syllabled mantra and others.
चण्डप्रचण्डौ द्वारस्थौ निर्गत्याभ्यर्चयेद्गुरुः। अग्निमण्डपमासाद्य गरुडं स्थाप्य पूजयेत्
Let the teacher worship Caṇḍa and Pracaṇḍa, who stand at the door, after going out; having reached the fire altar, let him install Garuḍa and worship.
दिगीशान् दिशि देवाश्चं स्थाप्य सम्पूज्य देशिकः। विश्वक्सेनं तु संस्थाप्य शङ्खचक्रादि पूजयेत्
Let the teacher install and duly worship the guardians of the directions and the gods in the directions; having established Viśvaksena, let him worship with conch, discus, and so on.
सर्वपार्षदकेभ्यश्च बलिं भूतेभ्य अर्पयेत्। ग्रामवस्त्रसुवर्णादि गुरवे दक्षिणां ददेत्
Let him offer oblations to all the attendants and to the spirits; let him give to the teacher gifts such as garments, gold, and so on from the village.
यागोपयोगिद्रव्याद्यमाचार्य्याय नरोर्पयेत्। आचार्य्यादक्षिणार्द्धन्तु ऋत्विगभ्यो दक्षिणां ददेत्
Let him offer to the teacher all the substances used in the sacrifice; and half the teacher's fee should be given as honorarium to the officiating priests.
अन्येब्यो दक्षिणां दद्याद्भोजयेद् ब्राह्मणांस्ततः। अवारितान् फलान् दद्याद्यजमानाय वैगुरुः
Let him give honoraria to others, then feed the Brāhmaṇas; then, let him give the unrestricted fruits to the sacrificer, in accordance with the Vaiṣṇava tradition.
विष्णुं नयेत् प्रतिष्ठाता चात्मना सकलं कुलम । सर्वेषामेव देवानामेष साधारणो विधिः। मूलमन्त्राः पृथक् तेषा शेषं कार्य्यं समानकम्
The installer should lead Viṣṇu, along with his entire family; this is the common procedure for all the gods; their root mantras are distinct, but the rest of the procedure is the same.
भगवानुवाच समुदायेन देवादेः प्रतिष्ठां प्रवदामि ते। लक्ष्म्याः प्रतिष्ठां प्रथमं तथा देवीगणस्य च
The Blessed Lord said: I will explain to you the installation of the gods and others in their entirety; first, the installation of Lakṣmī, and likewise of the host of goddesses.
पूर्ववत् सकलं कुर्य्यान्मण्डपस्नपनादिकम् । भद्रपीठेश्रियं न्यस्य स्थापयेदष्ट वै घटा
Let one perform everything as before, such as the pavilion and bathing, and so on; placing Śrī on the auspicious seat, let him establish eight pots.
घृतेनाभ्यज्य मूलेन स्नपयेत् पञ्चगव्यकैः। हिरण्यवर्णां हरिणी नेत्रे चोन्मीलयेच्छ्रियाः
Having anointed with ghee and with the root mantra, let him bathe her with the five products of the cow; let him open the eyes of Śrī, golden-hued and doe-eyed.
तन्म आवह इत्येवं प्रदद्यान्मधुरत्रयम्। अश्वपूर्वेति पूर्वेण तां कुम्भेनाभिषेचयेत्
Saying 'Come here, O you,' let him offer three sweet things; with the mantra 'Aśvapūrva,' as before, let him anoint her with the pot.
कामोस्मितेति याम्येन पश्चिमेनाभिषेचयेत्। चन्द्रं प्रभासामुच्चार्य्याद्त्यवर्णेति चोत्तरात्
With the mantra 'Kāmosmi' from the southern direction, let him anoint from the west; uttering 'Candraṃ prabhāsām' and 'Tyavarṇa' from the north.
उपैतु मेति चाग्नेयात् क्षुत्पिपासेति नैर्ऋतात्। गन्धद्वारेति वायव्यां मनसः कममाकृतिम्
With 'Upaitu me' from the southeast, and 'Kṣutpipāse' from the southwest; with 'Gandhadvāre' from the northwest, let him fashion the form of the mind's desire.
ईशानकलशेनैव शिरः सौवर्णकर्द्दमात्। एकाशीतिघटैः स्नानं मन्त्रेणापः सृजन् क्षितिम्
With the Īśāna pot, using golden clay, let him bathe the head; with eighty-one pots, creating water with the mantra, let him sprinkle the earth.
आद्र्द्रां पुष्करिणीं गन्धैराद्र्द्रामित्यादिपुष्पकैः। तन्मयावह मन्त्रेण य आनन्द ऋ चाखिलम्
Let him offer moist lotuses and other moist flowers with fragrance; with the mantra 'Tanmayāvaha,' and the hymn 'Ya ānanda,' and all the rest.
शायन्तीयेन शय्यायां श्रीसूक्तेन च सन्निधिम्। लक्ष्मीवीजेन चिच्छक्तिं विन्यस्याभ्यर्चयेत् पुनः
With the Śāyantīya hymn on the couch, and with the Śrīsūkta for her presence; having placed the consciousness-power with the Lakṣmī seed-mantra, let him worship again.
श्रीसूक्तेन मण्डपेथ कुण्डेष्वब्जानि होमयेत्। करवीराणि वा हत्वा सहस्रं शतमेव वा
With the Śrī Sūkta, arrange the pavilion and offer lotuses in the fire-pits; or, having gathered oleander flowers, offer a thousand or at least a hundred.
गृहोपकरणान्तादि श्रीसूक्तेनैव चार्पयेत्। ततः प्रासादसंस्कारं सर्वं कृत्वा तु पूर्ववत्
Likewise, present household utensils and other items with the Śrī Sūkta; then, perform all the consecration rites for the temple as before.
मन्त्रेण पिण्डिकां कृत्वा प्रतिष्ठानं ततः श्रियः । श्रीसूक्तेन च सान्निध्यं पूर्ववत् प्रत्यृचं जपेत्
Having fashioned the pedestal with the mantra, then establish the presence of Śrī; and with the Śrī Sūkta, invoke her presence, reciting each verse as before.
चिच्छक्तिं बोधयित्वा तु मूलात् सान्निध्यकं चरेत्। भूस्वर्णवस्त्रगोन्नादि गुरवे ब्रह्मणेर्पयेत्। एवं देव्योऽखिलाः स्थाप्यावाह्य स्वर्गादि भावयेत्
Having awakened the consciousness-power, then perform the invocation from the root; offer gold, cloth, cows, and the like to the teacher or priest; in this way, establish and invoke all the goddesses, and contemplate them as residing in heaven and beyond.
अग्निपुराणम् अध्यायः ७१- गणेशपूजाविधिः अथ एकसप्ततितमोऽध्यायः ईश्वर उवाच गणपूजां प्रवक्ष्यामि निर्विघ्नामखिलार्थदाम् । गणाय स्वाहा हृदयमेकदंष्ट्राय वै शिरः
The seventy-first chapter: The Procedure for Worshipping Gaṇeśa. Now, I shall explain the worship of Gaṇeśa, which removes all obstacles and grants every aim. 'Obeisance to Gaṇa!'—this is for the heart; 'to the One-Tusked'—for the head.
गजकर्णिने च शिखा गजवक्त्राय वर्ग च । महोदराय स्वदन्तहस्तायाति तथास्त्रकम्
'To the Elephant-Eared'—for the topknot; 'to the Elephant-Faced'—for the group; 'to the Great-Bellied, to the One with the Broken Tusk and Hand'—and thus the weapons.
गणो गुरुः पादुका च शक्त्यनन्तौ च धर्मकः । मुख्यास्थिमण्डलं चाधश्चोर्ध्वच्छदनमर्चयेत्
The Gaṇa is the teacher, the sandals, the two powers, and Dharma; worship the main circle of bones below and the upper covering above.
पद्मकर्णिकवीजांश्च ज्वालिनीं नन्दयार्चयेत् । सूर्येशा कामरूपा च उदया कामवर्तिनी
Worship the seed-letters of the lotus-navel and the flaming one with Nandā; Sūryeśā, Kāmarūpā, Udayā, and Kāmavartinī.
सत्या च विघ्ननाशा च ग्रासनं गन्धमृत्तिका । यं शोषो रं च दहनं प्लवो लं वं तथामृतम्
Satyā and Vighnanāśā, the offering, the fragrant earth; the syllables yaṃ, śoṣa, raṃ, the burning, plava, laṃ, vaṃ, and also amṛta.
लम्बोदराय विद्महे महोदराय धीमहि तन्नो दन्ती प्रचोदयात् ॥ गणपतिर्गणाधिपो गणेशो गणनायकः। गणक्रीडो वक्रतुण्ड एकदंष्ट्रो महोदरः
'We contemplate the Large-Bellied; we meditate on the Great-Bellied; may the Tusked One inspire us.' Gaṇapati, Lord of Gaṇas, Gaṇeśa, Leader of Gaṇas, Player among Gaṇas, Crooked-Tusked, One-Tusked, Great-Bellied.
गजवक्त्रो लम्बकुक्षिर्विकटो विघ्ननाशनः। धूम्रवर्णा महेन्द्राद्याः पूज्या गणपतेः स्मृताः
Elephant-Faced, with a hanging belly, Terrible, Remover of Obstacles; those of smoky color and the great Indra and others are said to be worthy of worship for Gaṇapati.
भगवानुवाच एवं ताक्ष्यस्य चक्रस्य ब्रह्मणो नृहरेस्तथा। प्रतिष्ठा विष्णुवत् कार्या स्वस्वमन्त्रेण तां श्रृणु
The Blessed Lord said: In this way, the installation of Tākṣya's discus, of Brahmā, and of Nṛhari should be performed like that of Viṣṇu, each with its own mantra—listen to that.
