अधिभूतादिदेवैस्तु साध्याख्यैविभवैः। सह। तन्मात्रपात्रकान् कृत्वा संहरेत्तत् क्रमाद् बुधः
With the powers called Sādhyas, along with the presiding deities of elements and senses, having made their subtle forms, the wise should dissolve them in order.
आकाशं मनसाह्त्य मनोहङ्करणे कुरु । अहङ्कारञ्च महति तञ्चाप्यव्याकृते नयेत्
Having absorbed space with the mind, one should merge the mind into ego; and the ego into the great principle, and that again into the unmanifest.
अव्याकृतं ज्ञानरूपे वासुदेवः स ईरितः। स तामव्याकृति मायामवष्टब्य सिसृक्षया
The unmanifest, in the form of knowledge, is called Vāsudeva; he, having grasped that unmanifest Māyā with the desire to create—
सङ्कर्षणं स शव्दात्मा स्पर्शाख्यमसृजत् प्रभुः। क्षोभ्य मायां स प्रद्युम्नं तेजोरुपं स चासृजत्
He, the Lord, created Saṅkarṣaṇa, the essence of sound, and then, having agitated Māyā, he created Pradyumna, the form of light.
अनिरुद्धं रसमात्रं ब्रह्माणं गन्धरूपकम्। अनिरुद्धः स च ब्रह्मा अप आदौ ससर्ज चह
He created Aniruddha, the essence of taste, and Brahmā, the form of scent; and Aniruddha, as Brahmā, first created water.
तस्मिन् हिरण्मयञ्चाण्डं सोऽसृजत् पञ्चभूतवद्। तस्मिन् सङ्क्रामिते जीव शक्तिरात्मोपसंहृता
In that, he created the golden egg, just as with the five elements; when the soul entered that, the power was absorbed into the self.
प्राणो जीवेन संयुक्तो वृत्तिमानिति शब्द्यते। जीवो व्याहृतिसञ्ज्ञस्तु प्राणेष्वाध्यात्मिकः स्मृतः
The life-breath, joined with the soul, is called 'active'; the soul, known as vyāhṛti, is considered the internal aspect among the life-breaths.
प्राणैर्युक्ता ततो बुद्धिः सञ्जाता चाष्टमूर्त्तिका । अहङ्कारस्ततो जज्ञे मनस्तस्मादजायत
Endowed with the life-breaths, then intellect arises, which is eight-formed; from that, ego is born, and from that, mind arises.
अर्थाः प्रजज्ञिरे पञ्च सङ्कल्पादियुतास्ततः। शब्दः स्पर्शश्च रूपञ्च रसो गन्ध इति स्मृताः
Five objects arose, endowed with intention and the like: sound, touch, form, taste, and smell are thus remembered.
ज्ञानशक्तियुतान्येतैरारब्धानीन्द्रियाणि तु। त्वक्श्रोत्रघ्राणचक्षूंषि जिह्वाबुद्धीन्द्रियाणि तु
With the power of knowledge, the senses were created from these: skin, ear, nose, eyes, tongue, and the intellect as the senses.
पादौ पायुस्तथा पाणी वागुपस्थश्च पञ्चमः। कर्म्मेन्द्रियाणि चैतानि पञ्चभूतान्यतः श्रृणु
Feet, anus, hands, speech, and the genitals as the fifth—these are the organs of action; now hear of the five elements.
आकाशवायुतेजांसि सलिलं पृथिवी तथा। स्थूलमेभिः शरीरन्तु सर्वाधारं प्रजायते
Space, air, fire, water, and earth—by these, the gross body, the support of all, is produced.
प्राणतत्त्वं भकारन्तु जीवोपाधिगतं न्यसेत्। हृदयस्थं बकारन्तु बुद्धितत्त्वं न्यसेद् बुधः
One should place the principle of vital breath, represented by the syllable 'bha', as associated with the living being; the wise should place the syllable 'ba' in the heart as the principle of intellect.
फकारमपि तत्रैव अहङ्कारमयं न्यसेत्। मनस्तत्त्वं पकारन्तु न्यसेत्सङ्कल्पसम्भवम्
There, too, one should place the syllable 'pha', which is composed of ego; the principle of mind, the syllable 'pa', should be placed, arising from intention.
शब्दतन्मात्रतत्त्वन्तु नकारं मस्तके न्यसेत्। स्पर्शात्मकं धकारन्तु वक्त्रदेशे तु विन्यसेत्
One should place the syllable 'na', the principle of subtle sound, on the head; the syllable 'dha', embodying touch, should be placed at the region of the mouth.
दकारं रूपतत्त्वन्तु हृद्देशे विनिवेशयेत् । थकारं वस्तिदेशे तु रसतन्मात्रकं न्यसेत्
The syllable 'da', the principle of form, should be established in the heart; the syllable 'tha', the principle of taste, should be placed in the region of the abdomen.
तकारं गन्धतन्मात्रं जङ्घयोर्व्विनिवेशयेत्। णकारं श्रोत्रयोर्न्न्यस्य ढकारं विन्यसेत्त्वचि
The syllable 'ta', the principle of smell, should be established in the thighs; 'ṇa' should be placed in the ears, and 'ḍha' should be placed in the skin.
डकारं नेत्रयुग्मे तु रसनायां ठकारकम्। टकारं नासिकायान्तु ञकारं वाचि विन्यसेत्
The syllable 'ḍa' should be placed in both eyes, 'ṭha' in the tongue; 'ṭa' in the nose, and 'ña' should be placed in speech.
झकारं करयोर्न्न्यस्य पाणितत्त्वं विचक्षणः। जकारं पदयोर्न्न्यस्य छं पायौ चमुपस्थके
The syllable 'jha' should be placed in the hands by the wise, as the principle of hands; 'ja' in the feet, 'cha' in the anus, and 'ca' in the genitals.
विन्यसेत् पृथिवीतत्त्वं ङकारं पादयुग्मके। वस्तौ घकारं गं तत्त्वं तैजसं हृदि विन्यसेत्
One should place the principle of earth, the syllable 'ṅa', in both feet; 'gha' in the abdomen, and 'ga', the principle of fire, in the heart.
खकारं वायुतत्त्वञ्च नासिकायां निवेशयेत्। ककारं विन्यसेन्नित्यं खतत्त्वं मस्तके बुधः
The syllable 'kha', the principle of air, should be placed in the nose; 'ka' should always be placed in the head as the principle of space by the wise.
हृत्पुण्डरीके विन्यस्य यकारं सूर्य्यदैवतम्। द्वासप्ततिसहस्त्राणि हृदयादभिनिः सृताः
One should place the syllable 'ya', the solar deity, in the lotus of the heart; from the heart, seventy-two thousand channels emerge.
कलाषोडशसंयुक्त मकारं तत्र विन्यसेत्। तन्मध्ये चिन्तयेन्मन्त्री बिन्दुं वह्नेस्तु मण्डलम्
One should place the syllable 'ma', joined with sixteen parts, there; in its midst, the practitioner should contemplate the point, the circle of fire.
हकारं विन्यसेत्तत्र प्रणवेन सुरोत्तमः। ओं आं परमेष्ठ्यात्मने आं नमः पुरुषात्मने
There, the best of gods should place the syllable 'ha' with the sacred syllable; 'Om āṃ, for the essence of the Supreme; āṃ, homage to the essence of the Person.'
ओं वां मनोनिवृत्त्यात्मने नाञ्च विश्वात्मने नमः। ओं वा नमः सर्वात्मने इत्युक्ताः पञ्च शक्तयः
'Om vāṃ, for the essence of withdrawal of mind; homage to the essence of the universe. Om vā, homage to the essence of all.' Thus are spoken the five powers.
स्थाने तु प्रथमा योज्या द्वितीया आसने मता। तृतीया शयने तद्वच्चतुर्थी पानकर्म्मणि
The first is to be applied in standing, the second is considered for sitting, the third likewise for lying down, and the fourth for drinking actions.
ग्रत्यर्च्चायां पञ्चमी स्यात्पञ्चोपनिषदः स्मृताः। हुङ्कारं विन्यसेन्मध्ये ध्यात्वा मन्त्रमयं हरिम्
On the fifth day of the Gratyarcā ceremony, the five Upaniṣads are remembered; place the syllable 'huṅ' in the middle, meditating on Hari as composed of mantra.
यां मूर्ति स्थापयेत्तस्मात् मूलमन्त्रं न्यसेत्ततः। ओं नमों भगवते वासुदेवाय मूलकम्
Wherever an image is to be established, the root mantra should be placed there: 'Om namo bhagavate Vāsudevāya' is the root.
शिरोघ्राणललाटेषु मुखकण्ठहृदि क्रमात्। भुजयोर्जङ्घयोरङ्घ्र्योः केशवं शिरसि न्यसेत्
On the head, nose, and forehead, then mouth, throat, and heart in order, place Keśava on the head.
नारायणं न्यसेद्वक्त्रे ग्रीवायां माधवं न्यसेत्। गोविन्दं भुजयोर्न्यस्य विष्णु च हृदेये न्यसेत्
Place Nārāyaṇa on the mouth, Mādhava on the neck, Govinda on both arms, and Viṣṇu on the heart.
