सवस्त्रे कलशे भूयः पूजयेदच्युतं श्रियम्। योगे योगेति मन्त्रेण न्यसेच्छय्यान्तु मण्डले ष
Again, with cloth on the pot, one should worship Acyuta and Śrī; with the mantra 'in union, in union,' place them on the bed in the six directions of the maṇḍala.
कुशोपरि तूलिकाञ्च शय्यायां दिग्विदिक्षु च। विद्याधिपान् यजेद्विष्णुं मधुघातं त्रिविक्रमम्
On the bed, on blades of kuśa grass and a cushion, and in all directions, one should worship Viṣṇu as the lord of knowledge, as Madhughāta and Trivikrama.
वामनं दिक्षु वाय्वादौ श्रीधरञ्च हृषीकपम्। विद्याधिपान् यजेद्विष्णुं मधुगातं त्रिविक्रमम्
In the directions, beginning with the wind, one should worship Vāmana, Śrīdhara, and Hṛṣīkeśa; and Viṣṇu as the lord of knowledge, as Madhugāta and Trivikrama.
अभ्यर्च्य पञ्चादैशान्यां चतुष्कुम्बे सवेदिके। स्नानमण्डपके सर्वद्रव्याण्यानीय निक्षिपेत्
After worshipping in the northeast with five vessels and on the altar, one should bring all the materials to the bathing pavilion and deposit them there.
स्नानकुम्भेषु कुम्भां स्तां श्चतुर्दिक्ष्वधिवासयेत्। कल्शाः स्थापनीयास्तु अभिषेकार्थमादरात्
In the bathing pots, one should install the pots in the four directions, and the kalashas should be properly placed for the purpose of the abhiṣeka.
वटोदुम्बरकाश्वत्थांश्वम्पकाशोकश्री द्रुमान् । पलाशार्जुनप्लक्षांस्तु कदम्बवकुलाम्रकान्
One should gather branches of banyan, udumbara, aśvattha, campaka, aśoka, śrī, palāśa, arjuna, plakṣa, kadamba, bakula, and mango trees.
पल्लवांस्तु समानीय पूर्वकुम्भे विनिक्षिपेत्। पद्मकं रोचनां दूर्व्वा दर्भपिञ्जलमेव च
One should bring the tender shoots and place them in the eastern pot, along with padmaka, rocanā, dūrvā grass, and a bundle of darbha grass.
जातीपुष्पं कुन्दपुष्पञ्चन्दनं रक्तचन्दनम्। सिद्धार्थं तगरञ्चैव तण्डुलं दक्षिणे न्यसेत्
One should place jātī flowers, kunda flowers, sandalwood, red sandalwood, siddhārtha, tagara, and rice on the right side.
सुवर्णं रजतञ्चैव कूलद्वयमृदन्तथा। नद्याः समुद्रगामिन्या विशेषात् जाह्रवीमृदम्
One should also place gold, silver, two kinds of clay from the riverbank, and especially clay from the Jahnavi river, which flows to the ocean.
गोमयञ्च यवान् शालींस्तिलांश्चैवापरे न्यसेत्। विष्णुपर्णी श्यामलतां भृङ्गराजं शताधरीम्
One should place cow dung, barley, rice, and sesame seeds; also viṣṇuparṇī, śyāmalatā, bhṛṅgarāja, and śatādhari plants.
सहदेवां महादेवीं बलां व्याघ्नीं सलक्ष्मणाम्। ऐसान्यामपरे सुम्भे मह्गल्यान्विनिवेशयेत्
One should place sahadevī, mahādevī, balā, vyāghnī with marks, and in the northeast, other auspicious substances.
वल्मीकमृत्तिकां सप्तस्थानोत्थामपरे न्यसेत्। जाह्नतीवालुकातोयं विन्यसेदपरे घटे
One should place earth from an anthill and from seven different places, and in another pot, sand and water from the Jahnavi river.
वराहवृषनागेन्द्रविषाणोद्धृतमृत्तिकाम्। मृत्तिकां पद्ममूलस्य कुशस्य त्वपरे न्यसेत्
One should place earth taken from the tusk of a boar, from the testicles of a bull, from the horn of an elephant, and also from the root of a lotus and from kuśa grass.
तीर्थपर्वतमृद्भिस्च युक्तमप्यपरे न्यसेत्। नागकेशरपुष्पञ्च काश्मीरमपरे न्यसेत्
One should also place earth from sacred fords and mountains, and in another pot, nāgakeśara flowers and kāśmīra.
चन्द नागुरुकर्पूरैः पुष्पं चैवापरे न्यसेत्। वैदूर्यं विद्रुमं मुक्तां स्फटिकं वज्रमेव च
Others should place fragrant substances such as sandalwood, nágara, camphor, and flowers, along with beryl, coral, pearls, crystal, and diamond.
एतान्येकत्र निक्षिप्य स्थापयेद्देवसत्तम। नदीनदतडागानां सलिलैरपरं न्यसेत्
Having placed these together in one spot, O best of gods, one should set them down; and in another place, water from rivers, lakes, and ponds should be placed.
एकाशीतिपदे धान्यान्मण्डपे कलशान् न्यसेत्। गन्धोदकाद्यैः सम्पूर्णान् श्रीसूक्तेनाभिमन्त्रयेत्
In a pavilion with eighty-one sections, one should set up pots filled with grains, filled with fragrant water and the like, and consecrate them with the Śrī Sūkta.
यवं सिद्धार्थकं गन्धं कुशाग्रं चाक्षतं तथा। लितान् फलं तता पुष्पमघ्यार्थं पूर्वतो न्यसेत्
Barley, white mustard, fragrance, the tip of kuśa grass, and unbroken rice, along with fruit and flowers for worship, should be placed to the east.
पद्मं श्यामलतां दूर्वां विष्णुपर्णी कुशांस्तथा। पाद्यार्थं दक्षिणे भागे मधुपर्क्कं तु दक्षिणे
Lotus, black creeper, dūrvā grass, viṣṇuparṇī, and kuśa grass should be placed for washing the feet on the southern side, and madhuparka also to the south.
कक्कोलकं लवङ्गञ्च तथा जातीफलं शुभम्। उत्तरे ह्याचमनाय अग्नौ दूर्वाक्षतान्वितम्
Kakkola, clove, and auspicious nutmeg should be placed to the north for sipping, together with dūrvā grass and unbroken rice for the fire.
पात्रं नीराजनार्थं च तथोद्वर्त्तनमानिले। गन्धुपुष्पान्वितं पात्रमैशान्यां पात्रके न्यसेत्
A vessel for waving lights and for anointing with fragrant substances should be placed in the northeast, filled with fragrance and flowers.
मुरामांसीं चामलकं सहदेवां निशादिकम्। षष्टिदीपान्न्यसेदष्टौ न्यसेन्नीराजनाय च
Murā, māṃsī, āmalaka, sahadevī, and niśādika, as well as sixty lamps, should be set out, and eight for waving lights.
शङ्खंहचक्रञ्च श्रीवत्सं कुलिशं पङ्कजादिकम्। हेमादिपात्रे कृत्वा तु नानावर्णादिपुष्पकम्
A conch, discus, Śrīvatsa, thunderbolt, lotus, and the like should be placed in a golden vessel, along with flowers of various colors and kinds.
भगवानुवाच एशान्यां जययेत् कुण्डं गुरुर्व्वह्निञ्च वैष्णवम्। गायत्र्याष्टशतं हुत्वा सम्पातविधिना घटान्
The Blessed Lord said: In the northeast, the teacher should establish the fire-pit and the Vaiṣṇava fire; after offering one hundred and eight oblations with the Gāyatrī, he should sprinkle the pots according to the prescribed method.
प्रोक्षयेत् कारुशालायां शिल्पिभिमुर्त्तिर्व्रजेत्। तुर्य्यशबदैः कौतुकञ्च बन्धयेद्दक्षिणे करे
He should sprinkle in the workshop, and the image-makers should proceed; with auspicious sounds, he should tie the protective thread on the right hand.
विष्णवे शिपिविष्टेति ऊर्णासूत्रेण सर्षपैः। पट्टवस्त्रेण कर्त्तव्यं देशिकस्यापि कौतुकम्
For Viṣṇu, reciting 'Śipiviṣṭa', with a thread of wool and mustard seeds, and with a silk cloth, the teacher should also prepare the protective thread.
मण्डपे प्रतिमां स्थाप्य सवस्त्रां पूजितां स्तुवन्। नमस्तेर्च्यें सुरेशानि प्रणीते विश्वकर्म्मण
Having placed the image in the pavilion, adorned with garments and worshipped, he should praise: 'O Lord of the gods, I bow to you, O one fashioned by Viśvakarman.'
प्रभाविताशेषजगद्धात्रि तुभ्यं नमो नमः। त्वयि सम्पूजयामीशे नारायणमनामयम्
'O sustainer of the universe, who empowers all, I bow to you again and again; in you, O Lord, I worship Nārāyaṇa, the flawless one.'
रहिता शिल्पिदोषैस्त्वमृद्धियुक्ता सदा भव। एवं विज्ञाप्य प्रतिमां नयेत्तां स्नानमण्डपम्
'May you always be free from faults in workmanship and endowed with prosperity.' Having thus addressed the image, he should lead it to the bathing pavilion.
शिल्पिनन्तोषयेद्द्रव्यैर्गुरवे गां प्रदापयेत्। चित्रं देवेति मन्त्रेण नेत्रे चोन्मीलयेत्ततः
He should satisfy the artisans with gifts and have a cow given to the teacher; with the mantra 'O Deva, O Beautiful One', he should then open the eyes.
