आदौ मध्ये तथेन्द्रादौ नवतत्त्वात्मभिः क्रमात्। अष्टादशभुजैका तु दक्षे मुण्डं च खेटकम्
At the beginning, in the middle, and at the head of Indra and others, in order, with the nine principles; the one with eighteen arms on the right holds a head and a shield.
आदर्शतर्जनीचापं ध्वजं डमरुकं तथा। पाशं वामे बिभ्रती च शक्तिमुद्गरशूलकम्

नीला शुक्ला धूम्रिका च पीता श्वेता चसिहगाः। महीषोथ पुमान् शस्त्री तत्कचग्रहमुष्टिकाः
Nīlā, Śuklā, Dhūmrikā, Pītā, Śvetā, and the lion-riders; the buffalo and the armed man grasp the demon's hair and fist.
आलीढा नव दुर्गाः स्युः स्थाप्याः पुत्रादिवृद्धये। तथा गौरी चण्डिकाद्या कुण्ढ्यक्षररदाग्निधृक्
The nine Durgās, standing in the ālīḍha posture, are to be installed for the increase of sons and prosperity; likewise Gaurī and Caṇḍikā and others, holding a pot, a rosary, and fire.
सैव स्म्भा वने सिद्धाऽग्निहीना ललिता तथा। स्कन्धमूर्द्धकरा वामे द्वितीये धृतदर्प्पणा

Sarasvatī holds a book and a rosary, and a vīṇā; Śvetā, shining white, holds a lotus and sits upon a makara as Jāhnavī.
कूर्म्मगा यमुना कुम्भकरा श्यामा च पूज्यते। सवीणस्तुम्बुरुः शुक्लः शूली मात्रग्रतो वृषे
Yamunā, dark, sits on a tortoise, holding a pot; Tumburu, fair, holds a vīṇā; the trident-bearer stands before the Mother, mounted on a bull.
गौरी चतुर्मुखी ब्राह्मी अक्षमालासुरान्विता। कुण्डक्षपात्रिणी वामे हंसगा शाङ्करी सिता
Gaurī, four-faced as Brāhmī, holds a rosary and a demon; Kuṇḍakṣapātriṇī, white, rides a swan as Śāṅkarī.

In her right hands are a bow and arrow of autumn hue; in her left, a discus and a bull-shaped bow. Kumari, adorned with peacock feathers, red in color, holds a spear and has two arms.
चक्रशङ्खधरा सव्ये वामे लक्ष्मीर्गदाव्जधृक्। दण्डशङ्खासि गदया वाराही महिषस्थिता
On the left, Lakshmi holds a discus and conch, and a mace in her hand; Varahi, standing on a buffalo, holds a staff, conch, sword, and mace.
ऐन्द्री वामे वज्रहस्ता सहस्राक्षी तु सिद्धये। चामुण्डा कोटरक्षीस्यान्निर्म्मंसा तु त्रिलोचना
Aindri, on the left, holds a thunderbolt and is thousand-eyed for accomplishment; Camunda, with sunken eyes, fleshless, and three-eyed.
निर्म्मांसा अस्थिसारा वा ऊर्ध्वकेशी कृशोदरी। द्वीपिचर्म्मधरावामे कपालं पट्टिशङ्करे
Fleshless, with only bones remaining, hair standing upwards, with a thin belly; on the left, wearing a tiger skin, she holds a skull and a sword.
शूलं कर्त्री दक्षिणेऽस्याः शवारूढास्थिभूषणा। विनायको नराकारो बृहत्कुक्षिर्गजाननः
In her right hand is a trident and a knife; she rides a corpse and is adorned with bones. Vinayaka, in human form, has a large belly and an elephant face.
बृहच्छुण्डो ह्युपवीती मुखं सप्तकलं भवेत्। विस्ताराद्दैर्घ्यतश्चैव शुण्डं षट्त्रिशदङ्गुलम्
With a large trunk, wearing a sacred thread, her face is seven digits wide; the trunk measures thirty-six fingers in breadth and length.
कला द्वादश नाडी तु ग्रीवा सार्द्धकलोच्छिता। षट्त्रिंशदङ्गुलं कण्ठं गुह्यमध्यर्द्धमङ्गुलम्
Twelve digits is the measure of a kala; the neck, with a vein and half a kala, is thirty-six fingers long; the secret part is one and a half fingers.
नाभिरूरू द्वादशञ्च जङ्घे पादे तु दक्षिणे। स्वदन्तं परशुं वामे लड्डुकञ्चोत्पलं शये
The navel and thighs are each twelve fingers; the shanks and right foot likewise. In the right hand, a tooth; in the left, an axe, a sweet ball, or a blue lotus.
सुमुखी च विडालाक्षी पार्श्वे स्कन्दो मयुरगः। स्वामी शाखो विशाखश्च द्विभुजो बालरूपधृक्
She is beautiful-faced, with cat-like eyes; at her side is Skanda, riding a peacock. Swami, Shakha, and Vishakha, two-armed, appear in child form.
दक्षे शक्तिः कुक्कुटोथ एकवक्त्रोथ षण्मुखः। षड्भुजो वा द्वादशभिर्ग्रामेरण्ये द्विबाहुकः
On the right is Shakti and a rooster; sometimes with one face, sometimes six-faced; with six arms, or twelve in the village, or two arms in the forest.
शक्तीषुपाशनिस्त्रिंशतोत्रदोस्तर्जनीयुतः। शक्त्या दक्षिणहस्तेषु षट्सु वामे करे तथा
Equipped with spear, arrow, noose, sword, shield, and gesture of warning; with a spear in the right hands, and likewise in the six left hands.
शिखिपिच्छन्धतुः खेटं पताकाभयकुक्कुटे। कपालकर्तरीशूलपाशेभृद्याम्यसौम्ययोः
Adorned with peacock feathers, she holds a shield, banner, gesture of fearlessness, and a rooster; in fierce and gentle forms, she bears a skull, knife, trident, and noose.

तेन सा रुद्रचामुण्डा नाटेश्वर्य्यथ नृत्यती। इयमेव महालक्ष्मीरुपविष्टा चतुर्मुखी
Thus she is Rudra-Camunda, the Lady of Dance, dancing; this very Mahalakshmi is seated, four-faced.
नृवाजिमहिषेभांश्च खादन्ती च करे स्थितान्। दशबाहुस्त्रिनेत्रा च शस्त्रासिडमरुत्रिकम्
She devours men, horses, and buffaloes held in her hands; ten-armed and three-eyed, she bears weapons, swords, and a trident.
बीभ्रती दक्षिणे हस्ते घण्टां च खेटकम्। खट्वाङ्गं च त्रिशूलञ्च सिद्धचामुण्डकाह्वया
In her right hand she holds a bell and a shield; a club and a trident as well; she is called Siddha-Camunda.
सिद्धयोगेश्वरी देवी सर्वसिद्धिप्रदायिका। एतद्रूपा भवेदन्या पाशाङ्कुशयुतारुणा
The goddess Siddha-Yogeshvari, bestower of all accomplishments; another form is red, adorned with noose and goad.
भैरवी रूपविद्या तु भुजैर्द्वादशभिर्युता। एताः श्मशानजा रौद्रा अम्बाष्टकमिदं स्मृतम्
Bhairavi, the form of knowledge, is endowed with twelve arms; these eight fierce mothers, born of the cremation ground, are thus remembered.
