Om—salutations to Śiva, the auspicious one, who dwells as the innermost Self within all beings. There is a sacred mantra, composed of five syllables, known as the Pañcākṣara. When this mantra is recited, it gently quiets the restless movements of the mind. With each repetition, the mind is drawn away from distractions and turned steadily toward the divine presence of Śiva. Thus, the Pañcākṣara becomes a bridge, guiding the seeker inward to the heart of all auspiciousness.
