ततस्तु सशरं चापं सात्वतस्य महात्मनः । क्षुरप्रेण सुतीक्ष्णेन चिच्छेद कृतहस्तवत्
Then, with a razor-headed arrow, sharp as a blade, he swiftly cut down the bow of the noble Satyaki, as if it were held in his hand.
तथान्यद्धनुरादाय कृतवर्मा वृकोदरम् । आजघान भ्रुवोर्मध्ये नाराचेन परंतपः
Then Kritavarma, the scorcher of foes, taking up another bow, struck Vrikodara between the brows with a steel-tipped arrow.
भीमस्तु समरे विद्ध्वा शल्यं नवभिरायसैः । भगदत्तं त्रिभिश्चैव कृतवर्माणमष्टभिः
But Bhima, in battle, struck Shalya with nine iron arrows, Bhagadatta with three, and Kritavarma with eight.
द्वाभ्यां द्वाभ्यां तु विव्याध गौतमप्रभृतीन्रथान् । तेऽपि तं समरे राजन्विव्यधुर्निशितैः शरैः

Desiring Bhishma's death, Arjuna, placing Shikhandi in front, approached the heroic warriors of your side, O Bharata, in battle.
ये स्म भीमं रणे राजन्योधयन्तो व्यवस्थिताः। बीभत्सुस्तानथाविध्यद्भीमस्य प्रियकाम्यया
Those kings who had stood against Bhima in battle, Bhībhatsu then pierced them, wishing to please Bhima.

Susharman, go swiftly, surrounded by your troops; slay these two sons of Pandu, Dhananjaya and Vrikodara.
तच्छ्रुत्वा वचनं तस्य त्रैगर्तः प्रस्थलाधिपः । अभिद्रुत्य रणे भीममर्जुनं चैव धन्विनौ
Hearing those words, the Trigarta, lord of Prasthala, rushed into battle against Bhima and Arjuna, both skilled archers.
रथैरनेकसाहस्रैः समन्तात्पर्यवारयत् । ततः प्रववृते युद्धमर्जुनस्य परैः सह

He honored each of them with three arrows, whose feathers were from the Kanka and Barhina birds, and, as a mighty charioteer in battle, afflicted your army.
जयद्रथो रणे पार्थं विद्ध्वा भारत सायकैः । भीमं विव्याध तरसा चित्रसेनरथे स्थितः
Jayadratha, in battle, struck Partha with arrows, O Bharata, and swiftly wounded Bhima, standing on Citrashena's chariot.
शल्यश्च समरे जिष्णुं कृपश्च रथिनां वरः ।। विव्याधाते महाराज बहुधा मर्ममेदिभिः
Shalya, in battle, wounded Jishnu, and Kripa, foremost among charioteers, struck him repeatedly, O king, with arrows that pierced vital spots.
चित्रसेनादयश्चैव पुत्रास्तव विशांपते । पञ्चाभिः पञ्चभिस्तूर्णं सुंयुगे निशितैः शरैः
Citrashena and your sons, O lord of men, quickly struck Arjuna and Bhimasena in battle with five sharp arrows each.
आजघ्नुरर्जुनं सङ्ख्ये भीमसेनं च मारिष । तौ तत्र रथिनां श्रेष्ठौ कौन्तेयौ भरतर्षभौ
They attacked Arjuna and Bhimasena in the conflict, O great one, and those two, the foremost among charioteers, the sons of Kunti, stood there.
