चेदिकाशिकरूपेश्च पौरवैरपि संवृतः। धृष्टद्युम्नः शिखण्डी च पाञ्चालाश्च प्रभद्रकाः
Chedis, Kashis, Karupas, and the Pauravas surrounded Dhrishtadyumna, Shikhandi, the Panchalas, and the Prabhadrakas.
मध्ये सैन्यस्य महतः स्थिता युद्धाय भारत। तत्रैव धर्मराजोऽपि गजानीकेन संवृतः
In the center of that great army, ready for battle, O Bharata, stood King Yudhishthira, protected by the elephant division.

शरैरथिरथो युद्धे दारयन्रथयूथपान् । ते वध्यमानाः पार्थेन कालेनेव युगक्षये
