The knower of truth, engaged in yoga, should think, 'I do nothing at all,' even while seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, eating, going, sleeping, breathing.
Speaking, letting go, grasping, opening and closing the eyes—even so, holding that the senses move among the objects of the senses.
He who, having abandoned attachment, performs actions dedicating them to Brahman, is not stained by sin, just as a lotus leaf is not wetted by water.

The disciplined one, abandoning the fruit of action, attains lasting peace; the undisciplined, impelled by desire, attached to the fruit, is bound.
Having renounced all actions by mind, the self-controlled one dwells happily in the city of nine gates, the body, neither acting nor causing action.
The Lord does not create agency, actions, or the union with the fruits of action for the world; rather, nature acts.
The all-pervading does not take anyone's sin or virtue; knowledge is covered by ignorance, and thus beings are deluded.
But for those whose ignorance is destroyed by knowledge of the self, that knowledge, like the sun, reveals the supreme.

The wise see with equal vision a learned and humble brāhmaṇa, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and even a dog-eater.
Even here, those whose mind is established in equality have conquered creation; for Brahman is flawless and equal, therefore they abide in Brahman.
He does not rejoice upon obtaining what is pleasant, nor does he become distressed upon encountering what is unpleasant; steadfast in understanding, undeluded, knowing Brahman, he abides in Brahman.
With the mind unattached to external contacts, he finds the happiness that is within himself; united with Brahman through yoga, he attains imperishable happiness, not perceived by the senses.
Indeed, pleasures born of contact are sources of suffering; they have a beginning and an end, O Kaunteya, and the wise do not delight in them.

The sages, whose impurities are exhausted, whose doubts are cut off, whose minds are disciplined, and who are devoted to the welfare of all beings, attain liberation in Brahman.
For those ascetics who are free from desire and anger, whose minds are controlled, and who know the self, liberation in Brahman is present on all sides.
Having placed external contacts outside, and fixing the gaze between the eyebrows, making the inward and outward breaths move together within the nostrils,
The sage, whose mind, senses, and intellect are restrained, who is devoted to liberation, and who is free from desire, fear, and anger, is always liberated.

He who performs his duty without dependence on the fruits of action, he is both a renunciant and a yogi; not one who has merely abandoned fire or is inactive.
What is called renunciation, know that as yoga, O Pāṇḍava; for no one becomes a yogi without renouncing intention.
For the sage desiring to ascend to yoga, action is said to be the means; for one who has attained yoga, tranquility is said to be the means.
When he is not attached to sense objects or to actions, and has renounced all intentions, then he is said to be established in yoga.
Let one lift oneself by oneself, and let one not degrade oneself; for the self alone is the friend of oneself, and the self alone is the enemy of oneself.
