कृपः शारद्वतो रजन्रथयूथपयूथपः। प्रियान्प्राणान्परित्यज्य प्रधक्ष्यति रिपूंस्तव
Kripa, son of Sharadvat, chief among chariot-warriors, will abandon even his dear life to burn your enemies, O king.
गौतमस्य महर्षेर्य आचार्यस्य शरद्वतः। कार्तिकेय इवाजयः शरस्तम्बात्सुतोऽभवत्
From Gautama, the great sage and teacher Sharadvata, was born a son from a pillar of arrows, invincible like Kartikeya.
एष सेनाः सुबहुला विविधायुधकार्मुकाः । अग्निवत्समरे तात चरिष्यति विनिर्दहन्
This army, vast and equipped with diverse weapons and bows, will move in battle, O dear one, burning all like fire.
शकुनिर्मातुलस्तेऽसौ रथ एको नराधिप। प्रयुज्य पाण्डवैर्वैरं योत्स्यते नात्र संशयः
That is your maternal uncle Shakuni, O king, alone on his chariot; he will surely fight, having incited enmity with the Pandavas—of this there is no doubt.
एतस्य सेना दुर्धर्षा समरे प्रतियायिनः। विकृतायुधभूयिष्ठा वायुवेगसमा जवे
His army is difficult to withstand in battle, advancing with strange and numerous weapons, swift as the wind in speed.
द्रोणपुत्रो महेष्वासः सर्वानेवातिधन्विनः । समरे चित्रयोधी च दृढास्त्रश्च महारथः
Drona's son, a mighty archer, surpasses all other bowmen; in battle he is a remarkable warrior, steadfast in his weapons, a great chariot-warrior.
एतस्य हि महाराज यथा गाण्डीवधन्वनः। शरासनविनिर्मुक्ताः संसक्ता यान्ति सायकाः
O great king, just as from Arjuna's Gandiva bow the arrows are released in a continuous stream, so too are his missiles loosed in battle.
नैष शक्यो मया वीरः संख्यातुं रथसत्तमः । निर्दहेदपि लोकांस्त्रीनिच्छन्नेष महारथः
This heroic chariot-warrior cannot be counted by me; if he wished, this great charioteer could burn up even the three worlds.
क्रोधस्तेजश्च तपसा संभृतोश्रमवासिनाम् । द्रोणेनानुगृहीतश्च दिव्यैरस्त्रैरुदारधीः
His wrath and energy, gathered through the austerities of forest-dwellers, have been favored by Drona, who endowed him with divine weapons and a noble mind.
दोषस्त्वस्य महानेको येनैव भरतर्षभ । न मे रथो नातिरथो मतः पार्थिवसत्तम

हन्यादेकरथेनैव देवानामपि वाहिनीम् । वपुष्मांस्तलघोषेण स्फोटयेदपि पर्वतान्
With a single chariot, he could destroy even the army of the gods; with his resounding might, he could shatter mountains.
असंख्येयगुणो वीरः प्रहन्ता दारुणद्युतिः। दण्डपाणिरिवासह्यः कालवत्प्रचरिष्यति
This hero, possessed of countless qualities, a fierce slayer with terrible radiance, will move in battle like Time itself, irresistible as one who wields the rod of punishment.
युगान्ताग्निसमः क्रोधात्सिंहग्रीवो महाद्युतिः । एष भारत युद्धस्य पृष्ठं संशयमिष्यति
Equal to the fire at the end of an age in his wrath, lion-necked and of great brilliance, O Bharata, he will decide the outcome of the war.
पिता त्वस्य महातेजा वृद्धोऽपि युवभिर्वरः । रणे कर्म महत्कर्ता अत्र मे नास्ति संशयः
His father, though aged, is of great energy and superior to the young; in battle he will perform mighty deeds—of this I have no doubt.
अस्त्रवेगानिलोद्भूतः सेनाकक्षेन्धनोत्थितः । पाण्डुपुत्रस्य सैन्यानि प्रधक्ष्यति रणे धृतः
Roused by the wind of his weapons, arising from the fuel of the army's ranks, he will burn the forces of the Pandava sons in battle.
रथयूथपयूथानां यूथपोऽय नरर्षभः । भरद्वाजात्मजः कर्ता कर्म तीव्रं हितं तव
Among the leaders of chariot divisions, this son of Bharadvaja is the chief, O bull among men; he will perform fierce and beneficial deeds for you.
सर्वमूर्धाभिषिक्तानामाचार्यः स्थविरो गुरुः । गच्छेदन्तं सृञ्जयानां प्रियस्त्वस्य धनञ्जयः
He is the venerable teacher, the elder and guru of all those anointed as kings; yet his dearest is Dhananjaya among the Srinjayas.
नैष जातु महेष्वासः पार्थमक्लिष्टकारिणम् । हन्यादाचार्यकं दीप्तं संस्मृत्य गुणनिर्जितम्
This mighty archer would never slay Arjuna, who acts without fatigue, remembering his own teacher's glory and Arjuna's surpassing virtues.
श्लाघते यं सदा वीर पार्थस्य गुणविस्तरैः । पुत्रादभ्यधिकं चैनं भारद्वाजोऽनुपश्यति
That hero whom he always praises for Arjuna's manifold virtues, Bharadvaja esteems him even more than his own son.
हन्यादेकरथेनैव देवगन्धर्वमानुषान् । एकीभूतानपि रणे दिव्यैरस्त्रैः प्रतापवान्
With a single chariot, he could slay Devas, Gandharvas, and humans, even if united in battle, wielding divine weapons with great prowess.
पौरवो राजशार्दूलस्तव राजन्महारथः । मतो मम रथोदारः परवीररथारुजः
Paurava, the tiger among kings, your mighty chariot-warrior, O King, is esteemed by me as a splendid charioteer, destroyer of enemy heroes.
स्वेन सैन्येन महता प्रतपञ्शत्रुवाहिनीम्। प्रधक्ष्यति स पाञ्चालान्कक्षमग्निगतिर्यथा
With his own vast army, he will scorch the enemy forces; he will burn the Panchalas as fire consumes dry wood.
सत्यश्रवा रथस्त्वेको राजपुत्रो बृहद्बलः। तव राजन्रिपुबले कालवत्प्रचरिष्यति
Satyaśrava, your chariot-warrior, the prince Brihadbala, will move through the enemy host like Time itself, O King.
एतस्य योधा राजेन्द्र विचित्रकवचायुधाः । विचरिष्यन्ति सङ्ग्रामे निन्घन्तः शास्त्रवांस्तव
His warriors, O king of kings, adorned with varied armor and weapons, will roam the battlefield, slaying your foes with skill in weapons.
वृषसेनो रथस्तेऽग्र्यः कर्णपुत्रो महारथः । प्रधक्ष्यति रिपूणां ते बलं तु बलिनां वरः
Vṛṣasena, your foremost chariot-warrior, son of Karna and mighty hero, will burn the strength of your enemies, being the best among the strong.
जघसन्धो महातेजा राजन्रथवरस्तव । त्यक्ष्यते समरे प्राणान्माधवः परवीरहा
Jaghasandha, of great energy, O King, your excellent chariot-warrior, will give up his life in battle, O Mādhava, slayer of enemy heroes.
एष योत्स्यति सङ्ग्रामे गजस्कन्धविशारदः । रथेन वा माहबाहुः क्षपयञ्शत्रुवाहिनीम्
He will fight in battle, skilled on elephant-back or with a chariot, mighty-armed, destroying the enemy forces.
रथ एष महाराज मतो मे राजसत्तम। त्वदर्थे त्यक्ष्यते प्राणान्सहसैन्यो महारणे
This chariot-warrior, O great king, is esteemed by me as the best; for your sake, he will give up his life in the great war, along with his army.
एष विक्रान्तयोधी च चित्रयोधी च संगरे । वीतभीश्चापि ते राजञ्शत्रुभिः सह योत्स्यते
He is a valiant and distinguished warrior in battle, and without fear, O King, he will fight your enemies.
