योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम्
The yogis behold that Blessed, Eternal One.
द्वादशपूगां सरितं पिबन्तो देवरक्षिताम्। मध्वीक्षन्तश्च ते तस्याः संचरन्तीह घोराम् । योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम्
Drinking the river of twelve streams, guarded by the gods, and gazing at its honey, they wander here in its dreadful course; the yogis behold that Blessed, Eternal One.
तदर्धमासं पिबति संचितं भ्रमरो मधु। ईशानः सर्वभूतेषु हविर्भूतमकल्पयत्। योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम्
The bee drinks the honey gathered for half a month; the Lord, present in all beings, has established himself as the oblation; the yogis behold that Blessed, Eternal One.
हिरण्यपर्णमश्वत्थमभिपद्य ह्यपक्षकाः। ते तत्र पक्षिणो भूत्वा प्रपतन्ति यथादिशम्। योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम्
Approaching the golden-leaved ashvattha tree, the wingless ones become birds there and fall as directed; the yogis behold that Blessed, Eternal One.
पूर्णात्पूर्णान्युद्धरन्ति पूर्णात्पूर्णानि चक्रिरे। हरन्ति पूर्णात्पूर्णानि पूर्णमेवावशिष्यते। योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम्
From fullness, they draw out fullness; from fullness, they make fullness; they take fullness from fullness, yet fullness alone remains; the yogis behold that Blessed, Eternal One.
तस्माद्वै वायुरायातस्तस्मिंश्च प्रयतः सदा। तस्मादग्निश्च सोमश्च तस्मिंश्च प्राण आततः
From him indeed the wind arises, and in him it is always established; from him come fire and soma, and in him breath is extended.
सर्वमेव ततो विद्यात्तत्तद्वक्तुं न शक्नुमः। योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम्
Everything is to be known from him, yet we are unable to speak of that; the yogis behold that Blessed, Eternal One.
अपानं गिरपि प्राणः प्राणं गिरति चन्द्रमाः। आदित्यो गिरते चन्द्रमादित्यं गिरते परः । योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम्
Apāna utters prāṇa, prāṇa utters the moon; the sun utters the moon, and the supreme utters the sun; the yogis behold that Blessed, Eternal One.
एकं पादं नोत्क्षिपति सलिलाद्धंस उच्चरन्। तं चेत्सन्ततमूर्ध्वाय न मृत्युर्नामृतं भवेत्। योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम्
The swan, rising, does not lift one foot from the water; if he remains ever upward, there would be neither death nor immortality; the yogis behold that Blessed, Eternal One.

एवंरूपो महात्मा स पावकं पुरुषो गिरन्। यो वै तं पुरुषं वेद तस्येहार्थो न रिष्यते। योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम्
Such is the great-souled one, the person who utters fire; whoever knows that person, his purpose here is not lost; the yogis behold that Blessed, Eternal One.
यः सहस्रं सहस्राणां पक्षान्संतत्य संपतेत्। मध्यमे मध्य आगच्छेदपिचेत्स्यान्मनोजवः। योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम्
He who, spreading a thousand wings among thousands, flies forth, and even if swift as thought, comes to the center of the center; the yogis behold that Blessed, Eternal One.

एवं यः सर्वभूतेषु आत्मानमनुपश्यति। अन्यत्रान्यत्र युक्तेषु किं स शोचेत्ततः परम्
Thus, one who sees the Self in all beings—what cause has he for sorrow, wherever and whenever he is united?
यथोदपाने महति सर्वतः संप्लुतोदके। एवं सर्वेषु वेदेषु आत्मानमनुजानतः
Just as in a great well filled with water on all sides, so for one who knows the Self in all the Vedas.
अङ्गुष्ठमात्रः पुरुषो महात्मा न दृश्यतेऽसौ हृदि संनिविष्टः । अजश्चरो दिवारात्रमतन्द्रितश्च स तं मत्वा कविरास्ते प्रसन्नः
The person, vast of soul, is the size of a thumb; he is not seen, dwelling in the heart. Unborn, moving by day and night, tireless—having known him, the sage remains serene.
अहमेव स्मृतो माता पिता पुत्रोऽस्म्यहं पुनः। आत्माहमपि सर्वस्य यच्च नास्ति यदस्ति च
I alone am remembered as mother, father, and again as son; I am the Self of all, and what is and what is not.
पितामहोऽस्मि स्थविरः पिता पुत्रश्च भारत। ममैव यूयमात्मस्था न मे यूयं न वो ह्यहम्
I am the grandfather, the elder, the father, and the son, O Bharata. You all exist in me alone; you are not mine, nor am I yours.
आत्मैव स्थानं मम जन्म चात्मा ओतप्रोतोऽहमजरप्रतिष्ठः। अजश्चरो दिवारात्रमतन्द्रितोऽहं मां विज्ञाय कविरास्ते प्रसन्नः
The Self is my abode, and my birth is the Self; I am woven and interwoven, unborn and steadfast. Unborn, moving by day and night, tireless am I; knowing me, the sage remains serene.
अणोरणीयान्सुमनाः सर्वभूतेषु जाग्रति। पितरं सर्वभूतेषु पुष्करे निहितं विदुः
Subtler than the subtle, pure-minded, he awakens in all beings; they know the father, placed in the lotus of all beings.
एवं सनत्सुजातेन विदुरेण च धीमता। सार्धं कथयतो राज्ञः सा व्यतीयय सर्वरी
Thus, as Sanatsujata and wise Vidura spoke together with the king, the whole night passed.
तस्यां रजन्यां व्युष्टायां राजानः सर्व एव ते। सभामाविविशुर्हृष्टाःक सूतस्योपदिदृक्षया
When that night had ended, all the kings entered the assembly, eager to hear the charioteer's words.
शुश्रूषमाणाः पार्थानां वाचो धर्मार्थसंहिताः । धृतराष्ट्रमुखाः सर्वे ययू राजन्सभां शुभाम्
Listening to the words of the sons of Pandu, rich in righteousness and purpose, all led by Dhritarashtra, O king, went to the splendid assembly.
सुधावदातां विस्तीर्णां कनकाजिरभूषिताम् । चन्द्रप्रभां सुरुचिरां सिक्तां चिन्दनवारिणा
Spacious, shining like nectar, adorned with golden floors, radiant as moonlight, beautiful, sprinkled with cool water.
