अमोघस्त्वनघो रौद्रः प्रियश्चन्द्राननस्तथा। दीप्तशक्तिः प्रशान्तात्मा नद्रकुक्कुटमोहनः
Unfailing, sinless, terrible, dear, moon-faced, wielder of the blazing spear, tranquil in soul, enchanter of peacocks and cocks—
षष्ठीप्रियश्च धर्मात्मा पवित्रो मातृवत्सलः। कन्याभर्ता विभक्तश्च स्वाहेयो रेवतीसुतः

Lord, leader, Viśākha, Naigameya, very difficult to approach, of good vows, charming, fond of children's playthings—
खचारी ब्रह्मचारी च शूरः शरवणोद्भवः। विश्वामित्रप्रियश्चैव देवसेनाप्रियस्तथा। वासुदेवप्रियश्चैव प्रियः प्रियकृदेव तु
Sky-roaming, celibate, heroic, born in a thicket of reeds, dear to Viśvāmitra, dear to Devasenā, dear to Vāsudeva, and dear to those who do what is dear.
नामान्येतानि दिव्यानि कार्तिकेयस्य यः पठेत्। स्वर्गं कीर्तिं धनं चैव स लभेन्नात्र संशयः
Whoever recites these divine names of Kārtikeya attains heaven, fame, and wealth—of this there is no doubt.
स्तोष्यामि देवैर्ऋषिभिश्च जुष्टं शक्त्या गुहंनामभिरप्रमेयम्। षडाननं शक्तिधरं सुवीरं निबोध चैतानि कुरुप्रवीर

ब्रह्मण्यो वै ब्रहमजो ब्रह्मविच्च ब्रह्मेशयो ब्रह्मवतांवरिष्ठः। ब्रह्मप्रियो ब्राह्मणसर्वमन्त्री त्वं ब्रह्मणां ब्राह्मणानांच नेता
Devoted to Brahman, born of Brahman, knower of Brahman, lord of Brahman, foremost among those who possess Brahman, beloved of Brahman, counselor of all brāhmaṇas—you are the leader of Brahmans and brāhmaṇas.
स्वाहा स्वधा त्वंपरमं पवित्रं मन्त्रस्तुतस्त्वंप्रथितः षडर्चिः। संवत्सरस्त्वमृतवश्च षड्वै मासार्धमासाश्चदिनं दिशश्च
You are Svāhā, Svadhā, the supreme purifier, praised by mantras, renowned as six-rayed; you are the year, the six seasons, the months, half-months, days, and directions.
त्वंपुष्कराक्षस्त्वरविन्दवक्रः सहस्रचक्षोसि सहस्रबाहुः। त्वं लोकपालः परमं हविश्च त्वं भावनः सर्वसुरासुराणाम्
You are lotus-eyed, with a lotus-shaped face, thousand-eyed, thousand-armed; you are the guardian of the worlds, the supreme oblation, and the creator of all gods and asuras.
त्वमेव सेनाधिपतिः प्रचण्डः प्रभुर्विभुश्चाप्यथ शक्रजेता। सहस्रपात्त्वं धरणी त्वमेव सहस्रतुष्टिश्च सहस्रभुक्व
You alone are the fierce commander of the army, the mighty lord, the conqueror even of Indra; you are the thousand-armed one, you are the earth itself, you are the thousandfold satisfaction and the thousandfold enjoyer.
सहस्रशीर्षस्त्वमनन्तरूपः। सहस्रपात्त्वंदशशक्तिधारी। गङ्गासुतस्त्वं स्वमतेन देव स्वाहामहीकृत्तिकानां तथैव
You are the thousand-headed one, of infinite forms; you are the thousand-armed bearer of ten powers; you are the son of Ganga, O god, by your own will, and likewise the offering of Svaha and of the Krittikas.
त्वं क्रीडसे षण्मुख कुक्कुटेन यथेष्टनानाविधकामरूपी। दीक्षाऽसि सोमो मरुतः सदैव धर्मोऽसि वायुरचलेन्द्र इन्द्रः
You play, O six-faced one, with the rooster, taking on whatever forms you desire; you are consecration, Soma, the Maruts always, you are Dharma, Vayu, the lord of mountains, and Indra.
सनातनानामपि शाश्वतस्त्वं प्रभुः प्रभूणामपि चोग्रधन्वा। ऋतस्य कर्ता दितिजान्तकस्त्वं जता रिपूणां प्रवरः सुराणाम्
You are the eternal among the eternal, the everlasting lord even among lords, the fierce-armed one; you are the maker of truth, the destroyer of the Diti-born, the foremost among enemies, the best among the gods.
सूक्ष्मं तपस्तत्परमं त्वमेव परावरज्ञोसि परावरस्त्वम्। धर्मस्य कामस्य परस्य चैव त्वत्तेजसा कत्स्नमिदं महात्मन्
You alone are the subtle, supreme asceticism; you know the highest and the lowest, and you are both; by your energy, O great soul, this whole world of dharma, desire, and the supreme is pervaded.
व्याप्तं जगत्सर्वसुरप्रवीर शक्त्या मया संस्तुत लोकनाथ। नमोस्तु ते द्वादशनेत्रबाहो अतः परं वेद्मि गतिं न तेऽहम्
O chief of all the gods, lord of the worlds, the universe is pervaded by your power, whom I have praised; I bow to you, O twelve-eyed, twelve-armed one; beyond this, I know not your path.
स्कन्दस्य य इदं विप्रः पठेज्जन्म समाहितः। श्रावयेद्ब्राह्मणेभ्यो यः शृणुयाद्वा द्विजेरितम्
Whoever, with concentration, recites this birth of Skanda, or causes it to be heard by Brahmins, or listens to it as spoken by the twice-born—
धनमायुर्यशो दीप्तं पुत्राञ्शत्रुजयं तथा। स पुष्टितुष्टी संप्राप्य स्कन्दसालोक्यमाप्नुयात्
He attains wealth, long life, brilliant fame, sons, victory over enemies, prosperity and satisfaction, and finally the vision of Skanda.
उपासीनेषु विप्रेषु पाण्डवेषु च भारत। द्रौपदी सत्यभामा च विविशाते तदा समम्
When the Brahmins and the Pandavas were seated, O Bharata, Draupadi and Satyabhama then entered together.
प्रविश्य चाश्रमं पुण्यमुभे ते परमस्त्रियौ'। जाहस्यमाने सुप्रीते सुखं तत्र निषीदतुः

चिरस् दृष्ट्वा राजेन्द्र तेऽन्योन्यस्य प्रियंवदे। कथयामासतुश्चित्राः कथाः कुरुयदूचिताः

केन द्रौपदि वृत्तेन पाण्डवानधितिष्ठसि। लोकपालोपमान्वीरान्नूनं परमसंमतान्
By what conduct, O Draupadi, do you manage the Pandavas—heroes esteemed like the guardians of the world?
कथं च वशगस्तुभ्यं न कुप्यन्ति च ते शुभे। तव वश्या हि सतत पाण्डवाः प्रियदर्शने
And how is it, O lovely one, that they are always under your control and never angry with you? The Pandavas are ever obedient to you, O beautiful one.
न चान्योन्यमसूयन्ते कथं वा ते सुमध्यमे'। मुखप्रेक्षाश्च ते सर्वे तत्त्वमेतद्ब्रवीहि मे
Nor do they envy one another—how is this so, O slender-waisted one? They all look to your face; tell me the truth of this.
व्रतचर्या तपो वाऽपि स्नानमन्त्रौषधानि वा। विद्यावीर्यं मूलवीर्यंजपहोमागदास्तथा
Is it through observance of vows, asceticism, bathing, mantras, herbs, knowledge, strength of roots, recitation, offerings, or medicines?
ममाद्याचक्ष्वपाञ्चालि यशस्यं भगवेतनम्। येन कृष्णे भवेन्नित्यं मम कृष्णो वशानुगः
Tell me today, O Panchali, the glorious means by which Krishna is always obedient to me.
एवमुक्त्वासत्यभामा विरराम यशस्विनी। पतिव्रता महाभागा द्रौपदी प्रत्युवाच ताम्
Having spoken thus, Satyabhama, famed and fortunate, fell silent; Draupadi, devoted to her husband and greatly blessed, replied to her.
असत्स्त्रीणां समाचरं सत्ये मामनुपृच्छसि। असदाचरिते मार्गे कथं स्यादनुकीर्तनम्
You ask me about truth, yet you act according to the ways of unworthy women; how can there be praise for conduct that is not righteous?
अनुप्रश्नः संशयो वा नैष त्वय्युपपद्यते। कथं ह्युपेता बुद्ध्या त्वंकृष्णस् महिषी प्रिया
Such questioning or doubt does not arise in you; for how could you, O Krishna’s beloved queen, endowed with wisdom, have such thoughts?
