"Rise, rise, knower of dharma! May dharma protect you. We are pleased; by your purity, may you obtain long life, and having attained the desired path, austerity, knowledge, and supreme intelligence."
"By you, our son, ever honored at the proper time, we live here happily, as if we had gone to the world of the gods."
"You have no other deity among the gods; by your pure nature, O twice-born, you are endowed with self-restraint."
"The fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers are always pleased, son, by your self-restraint and our worship."

Then the butcher informed those two about the brahmin; and they welcomed the brahmin and honored him at that time.

And having received that honor, the brahmin asked both of them: 'Is all well in your house, with your sons and servants? Are you both in good health and comfort here?'
'All is well in our house, O brahmin, and with all our servants as well. I hope you too have arrived here without any trouble, O revered one.'
The brahmin replied to them joyfully, saying only 'Yes, indeed.' Then the righteous butcher spoke meaningful words to the brahmin.
'My father and mother, O revered one, are my highest deities. Whatever is to be done for the gods, I do for these two.'
'Just as the thirty-three gods, with Indra at their head, are to be honored by all the worlds, so too are these two elders for me.'
'Just as offerings are brought to the gods, O brahmin, so I diligently perform such acts for these two.'
'These two, O brahmin, my father and mother, are my supreme deities. I always please them with flowers, fruits, and food.'
'These two alone are my fires, as the wise declare. The sacrifices and the four Vedas—all these are contained in them for me, O brahmin.'
'For their sake are my life, my wife, my son, and my friends. With my wife and son, I always serve them.'
'I myself bathe them and wash their feet; I myself, O best of brahmins, give them their food.'
'I speak agreeable words to them and avoid what is displeasing. Even if something is not righteous, if it pleases them, I do it.'
'Considering righteousness as the highest, I always serve these two without fatigue, O best of brahmins.'
'There are five teachers, O brahmin, for a person who desires to live: father, mother, fire, self, and guru, O best of brahmins.'
'Whoever conducts himself rightly toward these, O best of brahmins, is considered to have always served them well. This is the eternal duty for one living the householder's life.'
Having introduced his father and mother to the brahmin, the righteous butcher again spoke to the brahmin.
'I have gained true vision; behold the power of austerity. For the purpose you were told, go now to Mithila.'
'In Mithila dwells one who is devoted to serving her husband, self-restrained, and truthful in conduct; that person will teach you righteousness, O hunter.'
Remembering the words of that devoted, truthful, virtuous, and self-restrained wife, O knower of righteousness, I consider you to be virtuous.
O best of twice-born, whatever you, O lord, instructed me regarding her, has indeed been seen by her, who is steadfast in monogamy—there is no doubt.
But, O Brahmin, by your gracious intention, I have shown you this; now, O dear one, listen to my words, for I will speak what is beneficial to you.
O best of Brahmins, your mother and father were not honored by you; you left home without their permission and without being reproached by them.
You performed the recitation of the Vedas and your duties improperly; because of their grief for you, those ascetics have become aged and blind.
Go to them and seek their forgiveness; do not let righteousness abandon you for this reason. You are an ascetic, a great soul, always devoted to righteousness.
