निर्विशेषा जनपदास्तथा विष्टिकरार्दिताः। आश्रमानुपलप्स्यन्ति फलमूलोपजीविनः
The regions will be undistinguished, afflicted by forced labor; those living on fruits and roots will seek out hermitages.
एवं पर्याकुले लोके मर्यादा न भविष्यति। `ब्राह्मणःक्षत्रियावैश्याः परित्यक्ष्यन्ति सत्क्रियाम्' न स्थास्यन्त्युपदेशे च शिष्या विप्रियकारिणः
In such a world, thrown into confusion, there will be no boundaries; Brahmins, Kshatriyas, and Vaishyas will abandon proper rites, and disobedient students will not remain under instruction.
आचार्योपनिधिश्चैव भर्त्स्यते तदनन्तरम्। अर्थयुक्त्या प्रवात्स्यन्ति मित्रसंबन्धिबान्धवाः
Then, even the teacher's fee will be scorned; friends, relatives, and companions will speak only for the sake of gain.
अभावः सर्वभूतानां युगान्ते संभविष्यति। दिशः प्रज्वलिता सर्वा नक्षत्राण्यप्रभाणि च
At the end of the age, there will be destruction of all beings; all directions will blaze, and the stars will lose their light.
प्रधूपितानि ज्योतींषि वाताः पर्याकुलास्तथा। उल्कापाताश्च बहवो महाभयनिदर्शकाः
The lights will be obscured, the winds will be turbulent, and many meteor showers will appear, indicating great terror.
षङ्भिरन्यैश्च सहितो भास्करः प्रतपिष्यति। तुमुलाश्चापि निर्ह्रादा दिग्दाहाश्चापि सर्वशः। कबन्धान्तर्हितो भानुरुदयास्तमने तदा
The sun, joined by six others, will burn fiercely; there will be tumultuous roars and burning of all directions; the sun will rise and set hidden within a headless trunk.
अकालवर्षी भगवान्भविष्यति सहस्रदृक्। सस्यानि च न रोक्ष्यन्ति युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते
The revered one with a thousand eyes will send rain out of season, and when the end of the age approaches, the crops will not grow.
अभीक्ष्णं क्रूरवादिन्यः परुषा रदितप्रियाः। भर्तॄणां वचने चैव न स्थास्यन्ति ततः स्त्रियः
Women will speak harshly and cruelly, delighting in quarrels, and they will no longer obey their husbands' words.
पुत्राश्च मातापितरौ हनिष्यन्ति युगक्षये। सूदयिष्यन्ति च पतीन्स्त्रियः पुत्रानपाश्रिताः
At the end of the age, sons will kill their own parents, and women, depending on their sons, will destroy their husbands.
अपर्वणि महाराज सूर्यं राहुरुपैष्यति। युगान्ते हुतभुक्वापि सर्वतः प्रज्वलिष्यति
O great king, at improper times Rahu will seize the sun, and at the end of the age, even fire will blaze everywhere.
पानीयं भोजनं चापि याचमानास्तदाऽध्वगाः। न लप्स्यन्ते निवासं च निरस्ताः पथि शेरते
Travelers begging for water, food, and shelter will not obtain them, and, rejected, they will sleep on the road.
निर्घातवायसा नागाः शकुनाः समृगद्विजाः। रूक्षा वाचो विमोक्ष्यन्ति युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते
At the end of the age, thunder, crows, serpents, birds, wild animals, and twice-born creatures will utter harsh cries.
मित्रसंबन्धिनश्चापि संत्यक्ष्यनति नरास्तदा। जनं परिजनं चापि यागान्ते पर्युपस्थिते
Then, when the end of the age arrives, people will abandon friends, relatives, and even their own attendants.
अथ देशान्दिशश्चापि पत्तनान्यापणानि च। क्रमशः संलयिष्यन्ति युगान्ते पर्युपस्थिते
Then, O king, regions, directions, cities, and marketplaces will gradually disappear as the end of the age approaches.
हा तात हा सुतेत्येवं तदा वाच सुदारुणाः। विक्रोशमानश्चान्योन्यं जनो गां पर्यटिष्यति
At that time, people will wander the earth, crying out in anguish, 'Alas, father! Alas, son!' in dreadful voices.
मोवादिनस्तथा शूद्रा ब्राह्मणाः प्राकृतप्रियाः। पाषण्डजनसंकीर्णा भविष्यन्ति युगक्षये
At the end of the age, the Shudras will speak arrogantly, and Brahmins will delight in ordinary things, mingling with heretics.
ततस्तुमुलसंघाते वर्तमाने युगक्षये। द्विजातिपूर्वको लोकः क्रमेण प्रभविष्यति
Then, amid great confusion at the end of the age, the world, once led by the twice-born, will gradually come to power again.
ततः कालान्तरेऽन्यस्मिन्पुनर्लोकविवृद्धये। भविष्यति पुनर्दैवमनुकूलं यदृच्छया
Then, after some time, for the renewal of the world, by chance, the divine will again become favorable.
यदा सूर्यश्च चन्द्रश्च तथा तिष्यबृहस्पती। एकराशौ समेष्यन्ति प्रपत्स्यति तदा कृतम्
When the sun, the moon, and Jupiter in the constellation of Tishya all come together in one sign, then the Krita age will begin.
कालवर्षी च पर्जन्यो नक्षत्राणि शुभानि च। प्रदक्षिणा ग्रहाश्चापि भविष्यन्त्यनुलोमगाः। क्षेमं सुभिक्षमारोग्यं भविष्यति निरामयम्
Then the rain will fall in season, the stars will be auspicious, the planets will move in their proper courses, and there will be safety, abundance, and health without disease.
कल्की विष्णुयशा नाम द्विजः कालप्रचोदितः। उत्पत्स्यते महावीर्यो महाबुद्धिपराक्रमः
Kalki, bearing the fame of Vishnu, a Brahmin impelled by time, will be born—mighty in strength, wisdom, and valor.
संभूतः संभलग्रामे ब्राह्मणावसथे शुभे। `महात्मा वृत्तसंपन्नः प्रजानां हितकृन्नृप
He will be born in the pure abode of a Brahmin in the village of Shambhala, a great soul, endowed with good conduct, and a benefactor of the people, O king.
मनसा तस्य सर्वाणि वाहनान्यायुधानि च। उपस्तास्यन्ति योधाश्च शस्त्राणि कवचानि च
For him, all vehicles and weapons will appear by thought alone, as will warriors, arms, and armor.
स धर्मविजयी राजा चक्रवर्ती भविष्यति। सचेमं संकुलं लोकं प्रसादमुपनेष्यति
He will be a righteous conqueror, a universal emperor, and he will bring peace to this troubled world.
उत्थितो ब्राह्मणो दीप्तः क्षयान्तकृदुदारधीः। संक्षेपको हि सर्वस्य युगस्य परिवर्तकः
The Brahmin, arisen, blazing, possessing a mind vast and destructive of decay, is the summarizer of all, the turner of the ages.
स सर्वत्र गतान्क्षुद्रान्ब्राह्मणैः परिवारितः। उत्सादयिष्यति तदा सर्वम्लेच्छगणान्द्विजः
He, surrounded everywhere by Brahmins, will then drive out all the groups of foreigners.
ततश्चोरक्षयंकृत्वाद्विजेभ्यः पृथिवीमिमाम्। वाजिमेधे महायज्ञे विधिवत्कल्पयिष्यति
After destroying thieves, he will establish this earth for the twice-born, and duly arrange a great horse-sacrifice.
स्थापयित्वा च मर्यादाः स्वयंभुविहिताः शुभाः। पुनः पुण्ययशःकर्म जरया संश्रयिष्यति
Having set up auspicious boundaries ordained by the Self-born, he will again, through virtuous and renowned deeds, resort to old age.
तच्छीलमनुवर्स्यन्ति मनुष्या लोकवासिनः। विप्रैश्चोरक्षये चैव कृतेक्षेमं भविष्यति
People dwelling in the world will follow that conduct; and when the Brahmins have destroyed the thieves, prosperity will arise.
कृष्णाजिनानि शक्तीश्च त्रिशूलान्यायुधानि च। स्थापयन्द्विजशार्दूलो देशेषु विजितेषु च
