But this lotus, O tiger among men, is especially beautiful, endowed with fragrance and form, and delights my mind.
It is visible to all the worlds, yet it was not seen by me before.
With Vasudeva as his ally, beloved of Vasudeva, and steadfast in truth, your great-souled brother fought at Khāṇḍava.
The Gandharvas, serpents, Rākṣasas, and even Indra were defeated; fierce magicians were slain, and the bow Gāṇḍīva was obtained.
Your own radiance is immense, your mighty arm's strength is great—unconquerable, unassailable, with valor equal to Indra.
By the force of your arm's might, all the Rākṣasas were terrified; abandoning the mountain, Bhīmasena drove them in all ten directions.
Then, let your friends, free from fear and confusion, behold the auspicious summit of the highest mountain, adorned with wondrous garlands.
Thus, for a long time, Bhīma's mind has been set on this; I wish to see the mountain peak, relying on the strength of your arm.
And, O tiger among men, I wish to see such a flower brought swiftly before my eyes by you, best of the Bharatas.
Then, that scorcher of foes, as if thrown by Draupadī, the mighty-armed one endured it like a noble elephant bears a blow.
Glorious, with the gait of a lion or bull, noble, shining like gold, resolute, strong, proud, and broad-shouldered was the Pāṇḍava.
Red-eyed, broad-armed, with the vigor of a maddened elephant, lion-fanged, bull-shouldered, he rose like a great sala tree.
Great-souled, with beautiful limbs, conch-shaped neck, mighty jaws, he touched his gold-backed bow, sword, and quivers.
Like a lion with its mane bristling, like a charging elephant, fearless and clear-minded, the powerful one rushed toward the mountain.
All beings beheld Pārtha, sword and bow in hand, advancing like a lion-king or a charging elephant.
Gladdening Draupadī, the Pāṇḍava, fearless and clear-minded, took up his mace and entered the king of mountains.
Never does fatigue, cowardice, weakness, or envy ever touch Pārtha, the son of the wind-god.
Reaching that single, difficult, and fearsome path, the mighty one climbed the lofty peak with many high summits.
He delighted the Kinnaras, great serpents, sages, Gandharvas, and Rākṣasas as the mighty one ascended the mountain's summit.
Then the best of the Bharatas beheld the abode of Vaiśravaṇa, adorned with mansions of gold and crystal.
Encircled on all sides by a golden rampart, shining with every kind of jewel, and adorned with all manner of gardens,
With towering heights like mountains, splendid with turrets, and resplendent with gates, arches, formations, and standards,
Exceedingly adorned by women dancing all around, and decorated with fluttering banners stirred by the wind,
Grasping the end of his bow with his curved arm, he gazed intently, full of eagerness, at the city of the lord of wealth.
The wind, carrying all fragrances and born from Gandhamadana, blew there most pleasantly, delighting all beings.
There stood wondrous trees, of many colors and bearing marvelous blossoms, beyond imagination and of supreme beauty.
The bull among the Bharatas beheld the abode of the lord of the Rakshasas, encircled by jeweled lattices and adorned with splendid garlands.
Bhimasena, of mighty arms, stood firm like a mountain, holding mace, sword, and bow, having wholly abandoned concern for his life.
Then, blowing his conch, which made the hair of his foes stand on end, and producing the twang of the bowstring and the clash of palms, he bewildered all beings.
Then, their hair bristling with excitement, the Yakshas, Rakshasas, and Gandharvas rushed toward that sound, approaching the son of Pandu.
