Indeed, there was no further conflict with the Yakshas, O best of Brahmins, while they dwelt on that mountain always inhabited by the Lord of Wealth.
Was there any meeting between them and Vaishravana? For the Lord of Wealth comes there, as Arstishena has said.
I wish to hear all this in detail, O possessor of austerities, for I am never satisfied listening to their deeds.
Having heard these beneficial instructions of that one of incomparable energy, the best of the Bharatas always acted accordingly.
They ate fruits, flavorful and fit for ascetics, and also the flesh of animals slain by pure arrows.
On the slopes of the Himalayas, they had pure offerings and various kinds of honey; thus the Pandavas, bulls among the Bharatas, dwelled there.
As they lived there, the fifth year arrived, while they listened to the many words spoken by Lomasha.
Having said, 'I will come when the time for action arrives,' Ghatotkacha, along with all the Rakshasas, had already departed, O lord.
While those great souls dwelled in the hermitage of Arstishena, many months passed as they witnessed great and wondrous things.
As the Pandavas roamed and delighted there, the blessed sages and Charanas also became pleased.
Pure-hearted and disciplined, they came to see the Pandavas; together with them, the best of the Bharatas engaged in delightful conversations.
Then, after a few days, Garuda suddenly seized a prosperous great serpent who dwelled in the great lake.
The great mountain shook, mighty trees were struck down, and all creatures, along with the Pandavas, beheld that astonishing sight.
Then, from the summit of that highest mountain, the wind carried toward the Pandavas all the garlands, fragrant and auspicious.
There, together with their friends, the Pandavas and the illustrious Draupadi saw divine flowers of five colors.
Then Krishna spoke to Bhimasena, who was seated comfortably in a secluded spot on the mountain, his mighty arms at rest.
O bull among the Bharatas, by the force of Garuda's wind, flowers of five colors are being scattered by the powerful breeze.
These flowers are of divine color, divine in nature, and carry celestial fragrance; their scent seems to intoxicate my mind, O bull among the Bharatas.
By seeing, touching, and smelling them, O tormentor of foes, it is as if all the sorrow in my mind vanishes.
With such divine, fragrant, and auspicious flowers, I wish to worship the deities and to unite with you.
But this lotus, O tiger among men, is especially beautiful, endowed with fragrance and form, and delights my mind.
It is visible to all the worlds, yet it was not seen by me before.
With Vasudeva as his ally, beloved of Vasudeva, and steadfast in truth, your great-souled brother fought at Khāṇḍava.
The Gandharvas, serpents, Rākṣasas, and even Indra were defeated; fierce magicians were slain, and the bow Gāṇḍīva was obtained.
Your own radiance is immense, your mighty arm's strength is great—unconquerable, unassailable, with valor equal to Indra.
By the force of your arm's might, all the Rākṣasas were terrified; abandoning the mountain, Bhīmasena drove them in all ten directions.
Then, let your friends, free from fear and confusion, behold the auspicious summit of the highest mountain, adorned with wondrous garlands.
Thus, for a long time, Bhīma's mind has been set on this; I wish to see the mountain peak, relying on the strength of your arm.
And, O tiger among men, I wish to see such a flower brought swiftly before my eyes by you, best of the Bharatas.
Then, that scorcher of foes, as if thrown by Draupadī, the mighty-armed one endured it like a noble elephant bears a blow.
