Having seen that, the son of Pandu, his desire fulfilled, remembered in his heart his beloved, wearied by forest life.
He reached a lovely lotus-lake, guarded by Rakshasas, and saw it on the beautiful summit of Kailasa, within a splendid grove.

There, the son of Kunti, the Pandava, saw pure, cool, nectar-like water, light and auspicious, and drank deeply of it.

This is the pleasure-garden of Kubera, the great-souled king of kings, highly revered by the Gandharvas, Apsarases, and the gods.
It is frequented by divine sages, Yakshas, Kimpurushas, as well as Rakshasas and Kinnaras, and is guarded by Vaishravana himself.
Upon seeing that great and wondrous celestial lake, Bhimasena, son of Kunti and wielder of immense strength, became exceedingly delighted.
That place is protected, by royal command, by Rakshasas called Krovasas, a hundred thousand in number, adorned with various weapons and ornaments.
When those Rakshasas saw the son of Kunti, surrounded by his brothers, bearing golden armlets, a hero of terrible prowess—
Armed, with his sword fastened, fearless, a subduer of foes, approaching the lotus-filled lake, they began to shout to one another.
Here is a tiger among men, armed and clad in antelope skin; whatever he intends to do, you should ask him here.
Then all of them approached the mighty-armed Vrikodara, radiant with energy, and asked, 'Who are you? You should tell us.'
You appear dressed as a sage, yet armed; O wise one, declare for what purpose you have come here.
I am Bhimasena, son of Pandu, next after Dharmaraja; I have come to this vast Badari with my brothers, O Rakshasas.
Here, Panchali saw the most excellent Saugandhika flower; surely, carried by the wind, she desires many of them.
For her, my blameless and dear wife, the daughter of Dharma, I have come here to gather flowers; know this, O night-walkers.
This is Kubera’s beloved pleasure-garden, O best of men; no mortal bound by human law is permitted to sport here.
Here, O Vrikodara, the divine sages, Yakshas, and gods, after informing the chief of the Yakshas, drink and take as they wish.
And here, O Pandava, the Gandharvas and Apsarases also sport, with the consent of Kubera, the great-souled lord of the Yakshas.
If anyone here, acting improperly, disregards the Lord of Wealth and wishes to sport, such a wicked one will surely perish—there is no doubt.
Disregarding him, you wish to seize the lotuses here by force; how can you call yourself the brother of Dharmaraja?
First address the king of the Yakshas, then drink and take as you wish; otherwise, you will not be able to see even a single lotus here.
I do not see the Lord of Wealth here among these rākṣasas; and even if I saw the great king, I would not be able to ask him for anything.
For it is not right to beg from kings—this is the eternal law; nor do I wish to abandon the duty of a kṣatriya in any way.
And this beautiful lotus-lake has arisen from a mountain stream; this is not the mansion of the great-souled Kubera.
For this belongs equally to all beings and to Vaiśravaṇa; when such is the case with these riches, who should ask whom for anything?
