That prosperity which belonged to the sons of Pritha at Indraprastha, which I saw at the Rajasuya sacrifice, and which is exceedingly difficult for other kings to attain,

Where all the rulers of the earth, afflicted by both weapon and energy, along with the Vangas, Angas, Paundras, Odhras, and the people of Kola, Dravida, and Andhra,
And those dwelling near the ocean, as well as the inhabitants of cities, the Sinhalas, Barbaras, Mlecchas, and those living in Lanka,
The western Karanas by the hundreds, those near the sea, all the Pahlavas, Daradas, Kiratas, Yavanas, and Sakas,

The Kekayas, Malavas, and also the Kashmiris—I saw all these summoned as servers at that sacrifice.
That prosperity of yours, which was seized by those fickle and grasping ones, I shall recover, taking their very lives.
Together with Rama, O Kaurava, and also with Bhima, Arjuna, Akrura, Gada, Samba, Pradyumna, and Ahuka,
With the heroic Dhrishtadyumna, the son of Shishupala, I will slay Duryodhana in battle at once, and Karna too, O Bharata, Duhshasana, the son of Saubala, and any other who dares to fight.
Then you, dwelling in Hastinapura together with your brothers, having attained the wealth of the Dhartarashtras, shall rule this earth.
Then the king spoke to him at that gathering of heroes, in the hearing of all those warriors, with Dhrishtadyumna at their head:
I accept your words as truth, O Janardana; you, mighty-armed one, will slay my enemies along with their allies.
After thirteen years have passed, make this true for me, O Keshava; I have pledged to dwell in the forest among the kings.
Having promised in the assembly, in the presence of all, to abide by the word of the king of righteousness, those led by Dhrishtadyumna agreed without hesitation.
With sweet and timely words, free from anger, they addressed Panchali, unblemished, in the hearing of Vasudeva.
Out of anger, Duryodhana will give up his life, O lady; I promise you this truth—do not grieve, O fair one.

O Pāñcālī, you will see their bodies lying on the earth, being dragged and repeatedly devoured by beasts of prey.
There, worn out by swords and abandoned by their weapons, the earth will drink the blood of those whose heads have been cut off.
Thus, those best of men, all valiant and marked by wounds, spoke many such words.

Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, Dhanañjaya, Pradyumna, Sāmba, Yuyudhāna, Bhīma, the sons of Mādrī, the princes of Kekaya, the sons of Pāñcāla, together with the king of the Matsyas—
Who, seeking to preserve his life, would advance against all these unconquerable, great-souled heroes with their allies and armies, enraged like lions among lions, in battle?
What Vidura said to me at the time of the dice game—'If you defeat the Pāṇḍavas, O king, surely the end of the Kurus will come, a great terror and a flood of blood'—
O charioteer, I believe it will happen just as the wise Kṣattā once told me; without doubt, this war will take place at the appointed time for the Pāṇḍavas, as foretold.
