पौण्ड्राश्च दामलिप्ताश्च यथाकामकृतो नृपाः। कालेयकं च रूप्यं च परिगृह्य परिच्छदान्
The Paundras and Damaliptas, kings acting as they wish, have brought Kalinga silver and other ornaments.
अगरून्स्फाटिकांश्चैव दन्ताञ्जातीफलानि च। तक्कोलांश्च लवङ्गाश्च कर्पूरांश्च महाबल
They have brought aloe wood, crystal, ivory, nutmeg, long pepper, cloves, and camphor, O mighty one.
अन्यांश्च विविधान्द्रव्यान्परिगृह्योपतस्थिरे। एते सर्वे महात्मानो द्वारि तिष्ठन्ति वारिताः
Having brought various other kinds of goods, all these great souls stand at the gate, having been stopped.
शैलेयश्च ततो राजा पत्रोर्णान्परिगृह्य सः। द्वारि तिष्ठन्महाराज द्वारपालैर्निवारितः
Then the mountain king, having brought leaves and wool, stands at the gate, O great king, turned away by the gatekeepers.
चीना हूणाः कषाः काचाः पर्वतान्तरवासिनः। आहार्षुर्दशसाहस्रान्विन्नीतान्दिक्षु विंश्रुतान्
The Chinese, Huns, Khasas, Kachas, and those dwelling among the mountains have brought ten thousand well-trained and renowned horses from all directions.
औष्णीकं कम्बलं चैव कीटजं मणिजं तथा। प्रमाणरागस्पर्शाढ्यं बाह्वीचीनसमुद्भवम्
They have brought warm blankets, those made from insects and gems, rich in size, color, and touch, and produced in the land of the Bāhīka Chinese.
रसान् गन्धान्प्रशंसन्तस्ततो द्वारमलभ्यत। खर्वटास्तोमराश्चैव शूरा वर्धनकास्तथा
Praising their flavors and fragrances, they could not gain entry at the gate; the Kharvatas, Tomaras, and the brave Vardhanakas as well.
चेलान्बहुविधान्गृह्य द्वारि तिष्ठन्ति वारिताः। प्राक्कोटा नाटकेयाश्च नन्दीनगरकास्तथा
Having brought many kinds of cloth, they stand at the gate, having been stopped; the Prakotas, Natakeyas, and those from Nandinagara as well.
नापितास्त्रैपुराश्चैव पञ्चमेयाः सहोरुजाः। तथा चाटविकाः सर्वे नानाद्रव्यपरिच्छदान्
Barbers, those from Tripura, the Pancameyas with the Orujas, and all the forest-dwellers, having brought various goods and ornaments,
परिगृह्य महाराज द्वारि तिष्ठन्ति वारिताः। शकास्तुषाराः कौरव्य रोमकाः शृङ्गिणोश्मकाः
Having brought these, O great king, they stand at the gate, having been stopped; the Sakas, Tusharas, Kauravyas, Romans, Shringa, and Ushmakas.
बलादूरुगमा राजन्गणितं चार्बुदं मया। कूटीकृतं सुवर्णं च पद्मकिञ्जल्कसंनिभम्
O king, I have counted a hundred million forcibly gathered and refined gold, shining like the pollen of a lotus.
शितान्दीर्घानसीनन्यान्यष्टिशक्तिपरश्वथान्। श्लक्ष्णं वस्त्रमकार्पसमाविकं मृदु चाजिनम्
Other sharp, long swords, spears, javelins, and axes; fine cloth not made of cotton, and soft animal skins.
बलं मत्तं समादाय द्वारि तिष्ठन्ति वारिताः। आसनानि महार्हाणि यानानि शयनानि च
Having brought strong, intoxicated elephants, they stand at the gate, having been stopped; costly seats, vehicles, and beds as well.
मणिकाञ्चनचित्राणि गजदन्तमयानि च। रथांश्च विविधाकाराञ्जाम्बूनदपरिष्कृतान्
Beautifully decorated with jewels and gold, and made of elephant ivory; and chariots of various forms adorned with gold.
हयैर्विनीतैः सम्पन्नान्वैयाघ्रपरिवारितान्। विचित्रान्सपरिस्तोमांश्चापानि विविधानि च
Furnished with well-trained horses, surrounded by tiger-like guards; and many kinds of bows, some with elaborate decorations.
नाराचानर्घनाराचाञ्छस्त्राणि विविधानि च। एतद्द्रव्यं महद्गृह्य पूर्वदेशाधिपो नृपः
Unmatched arrows and various weapons; having brought this great wealth, the lord of the eastern region, the king, [stands].
प्रविष्टो यज्ञसदनं पाण्डवस्य महात्मनः। जन्तुचेलान्द्विसाहस्रान्दुकूलान्ययुतानि च
Entering the sacrificial hall of the great-souled Pāṇḍava, there were two thousand garments of animal skin and ten thousand fine cloths.
कांस्यानि चैव भाण्डानि महार्हाणि कुथानि च। एतान्यन्यानि रत्नानि ददौ पार्थस्य वै मुदा
He also gave bronze vessels and costly caskets, and these and other jewels he joyfully presented to the son of Pṛthā.
अन्यान्बहुविधान्राजन्नरः सागरमाश्रिताः। रत्नानि विविधान्गृह्य ददुस्ते पाण्डवाय तु
Other men, O King, who dwelled by the sea, brought various kinds of gems and gave them to the Pāṇḍava.
मालवाश्च ततो राजन्रत्नानि विविधानि च। गोधूमानां च राजेन्द्र द्रोणानां कोटिसंमितम्
Then, O King, the Mālavas brought various jewels, and, O lord of kings, wheat measured in crores of droṇas.
अन्यांश्च विविधान्धान्यान्परिगृह्य महाबलः। पाण्डवाय ददौ प्रीत्या प्रविवेश महाध्वरम्
Having gathered other kinds of grains, the mighty one gave them to the Pāṇḍava with affection and entered the great sacrifice.
नानारत्नान्बहून्गृह्य सुराष्ट्राधिपतिर्नृपः। तैलकुम्भान्महाराज द्रोणानामयुतानि च
The lord of Suraṣṭra, O King, having collected many kinds of jewels, brought ten thousand jars of oil.
गुडानपि स तान्स्वादून्सहस्रशकटैर्नृपः। एतानि सर्वाण्यादाय ददौ कुन्तीसुताय सः
He also brought those sweet cakes by the thousands of cartloads, and, taking all these, he gave them to the son of Kuntī.
अन्ये च पार्थिवा राजन्नानादेशसमागताः। रत्नानि विविधान्गृह्य ददुस्ते कौरवाय तु
Other kings, O King, who had come from various regions, brought various kinds of jewels and gave them to the Kaurava.
जम्बूद्वीपे समस्ते तु सराष्ट्रवनपर्वते। करं तु न प्रयच्छेत नास्ति पार्थस्य पार्थिवः
In all of Jambūdvīpa, among all the lands, forests, and mountains, there was no king who did not pay tribute to the son of Pṛthā.
नरः सप्तसु वर्षेसु तद्यज्ञे नास्ति नागतः। क्रतुर्नानागणैः कीर्णो बभौ शक्रसदो यथा
In those seven years, there was no man who did not come to that sacrifice; the sacrifice, crowded with various groups, shone like the assembly of Indra.
इमांश्च दायान्विविधान्निबोध मम पार्थिव। यज्ञाप्थे राजभिर्दत्तान्महतो धनसञ्चयान्
Now hear from me, O King, of these various gifts, great accumulations of wealth, given by kings for the sake of the sacrifice.
मेरुमन्दरयोर्मध्ये शैलोदामभितो नदीम्। ये ते कीचकवेणूनां छायां रम्यामुपासते
Between Meru and Mandara, near the river with stony banks, those who dwell in the pleasant shade of the Kīcaka bamboos—
खषा एकासनाद्यर्हाः प्रदरा दीर्घवेणवः। पारदाश्च कुलिन्दाश्च तङ्कणाः परतङ्कणाः
The Khaṣas, who are worthy of a single seat, the Pradaras, the long-haired Dīrghaveṇus, the Pāradas, the Kulindas, the Taṅkaṇas, and the Parataṅkaṇas—
तद्वै पिपीलिकं नाम उद्धृतं यत्पिपीलिकैः। जातरूपं द्रोणमेयमहार्षुः कुञ्जशो नराः
That which is called Pipīlika gold, which is dug up by the Pipīlikas, droṇas in measure, those men brought in heaps.
