प्रविश्य बाणमासाद्य स तत्राथ जनार्दनः। चक्रे युद्धं महाक्रुद्धस्तेन बाणेन भरतर्षभ
Having entered, Janardana then confronted Bana there, and, greatly enraged, engaged in battle with him, O best of the Bharatas.
बाणोऽपि सर्वशस्त्राणि शितानि भरतर्षभ। सुसङ्क्रुद्धस्तदा युद्धे पातयामास केशवे
Bana too, O best of the Bharatas, fiercely angry in that fight, hurled all his sharp weapons at Kesava.
पुनरुद्यम्य शस्त्राणि सहस्रं सर्वबाहुभिः। मुमोच बाणः सङ्क्रुद्धः कृष्णं प्रति रणाजिरे
Again, seizing a thousand weapons with all his arms, Bana, enraged, released them at Krishna on the field of battle.
ततः कृष्णस्तदा कृत्त्वा तानि सर्वाणि भारत। कृत्त्वा मुहूर्तं बाणेन युद्धं राजन्नगोक्षजः
Then Krishna, O Bharata, having cut down all those weapons, fought for a moment with Bana, the son of Agni, using his own weapons.
चक्रमुद्यम्य रोषाद्वै दिव्यं शस्त्रोत्तमं ततः। सहस्रबाहूंश्चिच्छेद बाणस्यामिततेजसः
Then, in anger, Krishna raised his divine, supreme weapon, the discus, and cut off the thousand arms of the exceedingly radiant Bana.
ततो बाणो महाराज कृष्णेन भृशपीडितः। भिन्नबाहुः पपाताशु विशाख इव पादपः
Then, O great king, Bana, severely afflicted by Krishna, with his arms severed, quickly fell down like a tree struck by lightning.
स पातयित्वा बाणैस्तं बाणं कृष्णस्त्वरान्वितः। प्राद्युम्निं मोचयामास क्षिप्रं राजगृहात्तदा
Having struck down Bana with arrows, Krishna, filled with urgency, swiftly freed Pradyumna from the royal palace at that time.
मोक्षयित्वाऽथ गोविन्दः प्राद्युम्निं सह भार्यया। बाणस्य सर्वरत्नानि असङ्ख्यानि जहार सः
Then Govinda, having freed Pradyumna together with his wife, took all of Bana's countless treasures.
गोधनानि च सर्वस्वं स बाणस्यालये बलात्। जहार च हृषीकेशो यदूनां कुलवर्धनः
He also seized all the cattle and wealth in Bana's abode by force, Hrishikesha, the enhancer of the Yadu clan.
ततः स सर्वरत्नानि चाहृत्य मधुसूदनः। क्षिप्रमारोपयाञ्चक्रे सर्वस्वं गरुडोपरि
Then Madhusudana, having gathered all the treasures, quickly loaded all the wealth onto Garuda.
त्वरयाऽथ स कौन्तेय बलदेवं महाबलम्। प्रादुम्निं च महावीर्यमनिरुद्धं महाद्युतिम्
Then, with haste, the son of Kunti, mighty Baladeva, Pradyumna of great valor, and Aniruddha of great brilliance,
उषां च सुन्दरीं राजन्भृत्यदारगणैः सह। सर्वानेतान्समारोप्य गरुडोपरि वीर्यवान्
And Usha, the beautiful maiden, O king, together with their attendants and wives, the valiant one placed them all upon Garuda.
मुदा युक्तो महातेजाः पीताम्बरधरो बली। दिव्याभरमचित्राङ्गः शङ्कचक्रगदासिभृत्। आरुरोह गरुत्मन्तमुदयं भास्करो यथा
Endowed with joy, great splendor, wearing yellow garments, strong, adorned with divine ornaments and a wondrous form, bearing the conch, discus, mace, and sword, he ascended Garuda as the sun rises in the east.
सूदिता द्वारपालाश्च निशुम्भनरकौ हतौ। कृतक्षेमः पुनः पन्थाः पुरं प्राग्ज्योतिषं प्रति
The gatekeepers were slain, and Nishumbha and Naraka were killed; the path was made safe again toward the city of Pragjyotisha.
शौरिणा पृथिवीपालास्त्रासिता भरतर्षभ। धनुषश्च प्रणादेन पाञ्चजन्यस्वनेन च
By Sauri, O best of the Bharatas, the rulers of the earth were terrified by the twang of his bow and the sound of Panchajanya.
मेघप्रख्यैरनेकैश्च दाक्षिणात्याभिसंवृतम्। रुक्मिणं त्रासयामास केशवो भरतर्षभ
Surrounded by many southern warriors, dark as clouds, Kesava caused Rukmi to tremble, O best of the Bharatas.
ततः पर्जन्यघोषेण रथेनादित्यवर्चसा। उवाह महिषीं भोज्यामेष चक्रगदाधरः
Then, with a chariot resounding like thunder and shining like the sun, the wielder of the discus and mace carried away his queen Bhojya.
जारूथ्य आहृतक्रोधः शिशुपालश्च निर्जितः। वक्रश्च स हतः सङ्ख्ये शतधन्वा च क्षत्रियः
Jarasandha, seized by wrath, was defeated, and Shishupala too was vanquished; Vakra was slain in battle, and so was the Kshatriya Shatadhanva.
इन्द्रद्युम्नो हतः कोपाद्यवनश्च कशेरुकः। हतः सौभपतिश्चैव साल्वश्च कृतधन्वना
Indradyumna was slain in anger, and Yavana, as well as Kasheruka; the lord of Saubha, Salva, was also killed by Kritadhanvan.
पर्वतानां सहस्रं च चक्रेण पुरुषोत्तमः। विभज्य पुण्डरीकाक्षो द्युमत्सेनमपोथयत्
The supreme person, lotus-eyed, divided a thousand mountains with his discus and crushed Dyumat Sena.
महेन्द्रशिखरे चैव निमेषान्तरचारिणौ। जग्राह भरतश्रेष्ठ वानरावभितश्चरौ
And on the summit of Mahendra, O best of Bharatas, he seized two monkeys who moved in the blink of an eye, as they roamed about.
इरावत्यां महाभोजो वह्निसूर्यसमो बले। गोपतिस्तालकेतुश्च निहतौ शार्ङ्गधन्वना
On the Iravati, the mighty Gopati and Talaketu, whose strength was equal to fire and the sun, were slain by the wielder of Sharnga.
अक्षप्रपत्तने राजन्नवहेलनतत्परौ। उभौ तावपि कृष्णेन स्वराष्ट्रे विनिपातितौ
At the city of Akshaprapatana, O king, both those who were intent on disrespect were struck down by Krishna in Svarashtra.
दग्धा वाराणसी तात केशवेन महात्मना। पाण्ड्यं पौण्ड्रं च मात्स्यं च कलिङ्गं च जनार्दनः
Varanasi was burned, dear one, by the great-souled Keshava; Pandya, Paundra, Matsya, and Kalinga were all struck down by Janardana.
जघान सहितान्सर्वानङ्गराजं च माधवः
Madhava slew all of them together, including the king of Anga.
एष चैव शतं हत्वा रथेन क्षत्रपुङ्गवान्। गान्धारीमवहत्कृष्णो महिषीं यादवर्षभः
Having slain a hundred foremost Kshatras with his chariot, Krishna, the bull among the Yadus, brought Gandhari as his queen.
अथ गाण्डीवधन्वानं क्रीडार्थं मधुसूदनः। जिगाय भरतश्रेष्ठ कुन्त्याश्च प्रमुखे विभुः
Then Madhusudana, for sport, defeated the wielder of Gandiva, O best of Bharatas, in the presence of Kunti.
द्रौणिं कृपं च कर्णं च भीमसेनं सुयोधनम्। युद्धाय सहितान्त्राजञ्जिगाय भरतर्षभ
He overcame Drona's son, Kripa, Karna, Bhimasena, and Suyodhana, all assembled for battle, O bull among the Bharatas.
बभ्रोश्च प्रियमन्विच्छन्नेष चक्रगदाधरः। वेणुदारिवृतां भार्यां प्रममाथ युधिष्ठिर
Desiring to please Babhru, this wielder of discus and mace subdued in battle the wife surrounded by Venudari, O Yudhishthira.
पर्याप्तां पृथिवीं सर्वां साश्वां सरथकुञ्जराम्। वेणुदारिवशे युक्तां जिगाय मधुसूदनः
Madhusudana conquered the entire earth, with its horses, chariots, and elephants, all brought under the control of Venudari.
