भ्राजमानं पुरा तत्र सर्वौषधिविदीपितम्। यमिन्द्रभवनाच्छौरिराजहार परन्तपः
There, shining brightly and illuminated by all healing herbs, stood what the heroic thief took from Indra's mansion.
पारिजातः स तत्रैव केशवेन निवेशितः। लेपहस्तशतैर्जुष्टो विमानैश्च हिरण्मयैः
There, Kesava planted the Parijata tree, adorned with hundreds of golden-handed attendants and golden aerial cars.
विहिता वासुदेवेन तत्रैव च महाद्रुमाः। पद्माकुलजलोपेता रक्तसौगन्धिकोत्पलाः
There, Vasudeva also established great trees, with waters full of lotuses and red, fragrant blue lilies.
मणिमौक्तिकवालूकाः पुष्करिण्यः सरांसि च। तासां परमकूलि शोभयन्ति महाद्रुमाः
There are lakes and ponds with sands of gems and pearls; magnificent trees enhance their beauty on all sides.
सालतालाश्वकर्णाश्च शतशाखाश्च रोहिणः। भल्लातककपित्थाश्च इन्द्रवृक्षाश्च चम्पकाः
Sal, tala, ashvattha, and rohita trees with a hundred branches, bhallataka, kapittha, indravriksha, and champaka trees are planted there.
खादिरा मृतकाश्चैव समन्तात्परिरोपिताः। ये च हैमवता वृक्षा ये च नन्दनजास्तथा
Khadira and mritaka trees are planted all around, as well as those from the Himalayas and those born in Nandana.
आहृत्य यदुसिंहेन तेऽपि तत्र निवेशिताः। रत्नपीतारुणप्रख्याः सितपुष्पाश्च पादपाः
These too were brought by the Yadava lion and planted there—trees shining like gold and copper, and those with white flowers.
सर्वर्तुफलपूर्णोस्ते ते च काननसिन्धुषु। सहस्रपत्रपद्माश्च मन्दराश्च सहस्रशः
All bear fruit in every season, in those forest groves and riverbanks; thousands of thousand-petaled lotuses and mandara trees abound.
अशोकाः कर्णिकाराश्च तिलका नाग मल्लिकाः। कुरका नागपुष्पाश्च चम्पकास्तृणपुल्लिकाः
Ashoka, karnikara, tilaka, naga, mallika, kuraka, nagapushpa, champaka, and grass clusters are found there.
सप्तवर्णाः कबन्धाश्च नीपाः कुरवकास्तथा। केतकाः केसराश्चैव हिनतालतलताटकाः
There are saptavarna, kabandha, nipa, kuravaka, ketaka, kesara, and groves of hinatala and talatataka trees.
तालाः प्रलम्बा वकुलाः पिण्डिका बीजपूरकाः। द्रुतामलकखर्जूरा महिता जम्बुकास्तथा
Palm trees, pralamba trees, vakula trees, piṇḍikā trees, bījapūraka trees, swift-growing amalaka and kharjūra trees, and also the esteemed jambuka trees.
आम्राः पनसवृक्षाश्च चम्पकास्तिलतिन्दुकाः। लिकुचामृताश्चैव क्षीरिका कर्णिका तथा
Mango and jackfruit trees, campaka trees, tilaka and tinduka trees, likuca and amrita trees, as well as kṣīrika and karṇikā trees.
नालिकेरेङ्गुदाश्चैव उत्क्रोशकवनानि च। कदली जातमल्ली च पाटली कुमुदोत्पलाः
Coconut and inguda trees, and also groves of utkrośaka trees; banana and jātamalli trees, pāṭalī, kumuda, and utpala lotuses.
नीलोत्पलकपूर्णाश्च वाप्यः कूपाः सहस्रशः। फुल्लाशाककपित्थाश्च तैस्तीर्त्वा बन्धुजीवकाः
Ponds and wells filled with blue lotuses by the thousands; blooming śāka and kapittha trees, and groves of bandhujīva trees.
प्रियालाशोकवादिर्याः प्राचीनाश्चापि सर्वशः। प्रियङ्गुबदरीभिश्च यवैः स्यन्दनचन्दनैः
Priyāla, aśoka, and vādīrya trees, and all the ancient trees of the east; priyangu, badarī, yava, syandana, and candana trees.
शचीपीलुपलाश्चैश्च पलाशवधपिप्लैः। उदुम्बरैश्च बिल्वैश्च पालाशैः पारिभद्रकैः
Śacī, pīlu, palāśa, vadhapipla, udumbara, bilva, pālāśa, and pāribhadra trees.
इन्द्रवृक्षार्जुनैश्चैव अश्वत्थैश्चिरबिल्वकैः। भौमगञ्जनवृक्षैश्च भल्लाभैरश्वसाह्वयैः
Indravṛkṣa and arjuna trees, aśvattha and cirabilva trees, bhaumagañjana trees, bhallā, and aśvasāhvaya trees.
सज्जैस्ताम्बूलवल्लीभिर्लवङ्गैः क्रमुकैस्तथा। वंशैश्च विविधैस्तत्र समन्तात्परिरोपितैः
Sajja, tāmbūla vines, lavaṅga, kramuka, and various kinds of bamboo planted all around.
ये च नन्दनजा वृक्षा ये च चैत्ररथे वने। सर्वे ते यदुनाथेन समन्तात्परिरोपिताः
All the trees born in Nandana and those in the Caitraratha forest—every one of them was planted all around by the lord of the Yadus.
समाहिता महानद्यः पीतलोहितवालुकाः। तस्मिन्गृहवरे रम्ये मणिशक्रसवालुकाः
Great rivers with golden and red sands were gathered there, and in that splendid mansion, the sands shone like jewels and Indra's own.
मत्तबर्हिणनादाश्च कोकिलाश्च मदावहाः। बभूवुः परमोपेताः सर्वे जगति पर्वताः
The calls of intoxicated peacocks and the sweet songs of cuckoos, filled with passion, resounded; all the mountains in the world were present there in their highest form.
तत्रैव गजयूथानि तत्र गोमहिषास्तथा। निवासाश्च कृतास्तत्र वराहा मृगपक्षिणाम्
There were herds of elephants, and also cows and buffaloes; dwellings were made there for boars, deer, and birds.
विश्वकर्मकृतः शैलः प्राकारस्तत्र वेश्मनि। व्यक्तकिष्कुशतोद्यामः सुधारससमप्रभः
A mountain wall crafted by Viśvakarman surrounded that mansion, its gardens clearly marked by kiṣku and śata trees, shining like nectar.
तेन ते च महाशैलाः सरितश्च सरांसि च। परिक्षिप्तानि वै तस्य वनान्युपवनानि च
By that, the great mountains, rivers, and lakes, as well as the forests and groves, were all enclosed.
एवमालोकयाञ्चक्रुर्द्वारकामृषभास्त्रयः। उपेन्द्रबलदेवौ च वासवश्च महायशाः
Thus the three bulls among men—Upendra, Balarāma, and the illustrious Indra—gazed upon Dvārakā.
ततस्तं पाण्डरं शौरिर्मूर्ध्नि तिष्ठन्गरुत्मतः। प्रीतः शङ्खमुपाध्मासीद्द्विषतां रोमहर्षणम्
Then Śauri, standing atop the white chariot adorned with a banner, joyfully blew his conch, causing the hair of his enemies to stand on end.
तस्य शङ्खस्य शब्देन सारश्चुक्षुभे भृशम्। ररास च नभः सर्वं तच्चित्रमभवत्तदा
At the sound of that conch, the lake was greatly agitated, and the whole sky resounded; it was a wondrous sight.
पाञ्चजन्यस्य निर्घोषं निशम्य कुकुरान्दकाः। प्रीयमाणाः समाजग्मुरालोक्य मधुसूदनम्
Hearing the roar of the Pāñcajanya conch, the Kukura and Andhaka clans, delighted, came together to behold Madhusūdana.
वसुदेवं पुरस्कृत्य वेणुशङ्खरवैः सह। उग्रसेनो ययौ राजा वासुदेवनिवेशनम्
King Ugrasena, accompanied by the sounds of flutes and conch shells, set out for Vasudeva's residence, placing Vasudeva at the forefront.
आनन्दितुं पर्यचन्स्वेषु वेश्मसु देवकी। रोहिणी च ययौ देशमाहुकस्य च याः स्त्रियः
Devakī, wishing to rejoice, went through her own chambers, and Rohiṇī also went, along with the wives of Āhuka, to that place.
