समेत्य यदुसिंहस्य चक्रुरस्याञ्जलिं स्त्रियः। ऊचुश्चैनं हृषीकेशं सर्वास्ताः कमलेक्षणाः
The women gathered and offered respectful salutations to the lion of the Yadus, and all those lotus-eyed ladies addressed Hrishikesha.
नारदेन समाख्यातमस्माकं पुरुषोत्तम। आगमिष्यति गोविन्दः सुरकार्यार्थसिद्धये
"O best of men, Narada has told us that Govinda will come for the accomplishment of the gods' purpose."
सोऽसुरं नरकं हत्वा निशुम्भं मुरमेव च। भौमं च सपरीवारं हयग्रीवं च दानवम्
"He will slay the asura Naraka, as well as Nishumbha, Mura, Bhauma with his retinue, and the demon Hayagriva."
तथा पञ्चजनं चैव प्राप्स्यते धनमक्षयम्। सोऽचिरेणैव कालेन युष्मन्मोक्ता भविष्यति
"Likewise, he will also defeat Panchajana and obtain inexhaustible wealth; soon, he will set you free."
एवमुक्त्वागमद्धीरो देवर्षिर्नारदस्तथा। त्वां चिन्तयानाः सततं तपो घोरमुपास्महे
Having spoken thus, the steadfast sage Narada departed; we, constantly meditating on you, practiced severe austerities.
कालेऽतीते महाबाहुं कदा द्रक्ष्याम माधवम्। इत्येवं हृदि सङ्कल्पं कृत्वा पुरुषसत्तम। तपश्चराम सततं रक्ष्यमाणा हि दानवैः
"When will we see Madhava, the mighty-armed one, after time has passed?" With this resolve in our hearts, O best of men, we constantly performed austerities, though guarded by the Danavas.
ततोऽस्मत्प्रियकामार्थं भगवान्मारुतोऽब्रवीत्। यथोक्तं नारदेनाथ न चिरात्तद्भविष्यति
Then, for the sake of our dearest wish, the blessed Wind-god spoke: "As Narada has said, it will soon come to pass."
तासां परमनारीणामृषभाक्षं पुरः स्थितम्। ददृशुर्देवगन्धर्वा गृष्टीनामिव गोपतिम्
The gods and Gandharvas saw before them the bull-eyed one standing among those supreme women, like a lord of herds among cows.
तस्य चन्द्रोपमं वक्त्रमुदीक्ष्य मुदितेन्द्रियाः। सम्प्रहृष्टा महाबाहुमिदं वचनमब्रुवन्
Seeing his face radiant like the moon, their senses delighted, they joyfully spoke these words to the mighty-armed one:
सत्यव्रत पुरा वायुरिदमस्मानिहाब्रवीत्। सर्वभूतहितज्ञश्च महर्षिरपि नारदः
O Satyavrata, long ago the wind-god said this to us here, and so did the great sage Nārada, knower of the welfare of all beings.
विष्णुर्नारायणो देवः शङ्खचक्रगदासिभृत्। स भौमं नरकं हत्वा भर्ता वो भविता ध्रुवम्
Viṣṇu, the god Nārāyaṇa, bearer of conch, discus, mace, and sword—having slain the earthly Naraka—will surely become your husband.
दिष्ट्या तस्यर्षिमुख्यस्य नारदस्य महात्मनः। वचनादेव सत्यं नो भर्ता भवितुमर्हसि
By the grace of that foremost sage, the great-souled Nārada, and by his very words, it is destined that he shall become our husband.
यत्प्रियं बत पश्याम श्रुतं प्रियमरिन्दम। दर्शनेन कृतार्थाः स्मो वयमस्य महात्मनः
O subduer of foes, how fortunate we are to see and hear what is dear to us! By beholding this great soul, our purpose is fulfilled.
उवाच हि यदुश्रेष्ठः सर्वास्ता जातमन्मथाः। यथा ब्रूत विशालाक्ष्यस्तत्सर्वं वो भविष्यति
Then the best of the Yadus, seeing all those women overcome with love, spoke: 'O wide-eyed ones, whatever you desire, all that shall be yours.'
ततस्ता गरुडे सर्वाः सरत्नधनसञ्चयाः। क्षिप्रमारोपयाञ्चक्रे भगवान्देवकीसुतः
Then the blessed son of Devakī quickly made all of them, along with their treasures and wealth, ascend Garuḍa.
सपक्षिगणमातङ्गं सव्यालमृगपन्नगम्। शाखामृगगणैर्जुष्टं सप्रस्तरशिलातलम्
With flocks of birds, elephants, wild beasts, and serpents, adorned with groups of branch-dwelling animals, and with rocky plateaus and stones,
न्यङ्कुभिश्च वराहैश्च रुरुभिश्च निषेवितम्। सप्रपातमहासानुं विचित्रशिखिसङ्कुलम्
Frequented by boars, antelopes, and deer, with great slopes and precipices, crowded with variously crested peacocks,
स महेन्द्रानुजः शौरिश्चकार गुरुडोपरि। पश्यतां सर्वभूतानामुत्पाट्य मणिपर्वतम्
That younger brother of Mahendra, the valiant Śauri, before the eyes of all beings, uprooted the jewel mountain and placed it upon Garuḍa.
उपेन्द्रं बलदेवं च वासवं च महाबलम्। स्वपक्षबलविक्षेपैर्महाद्रिशिखरोपमः
Upendra, Baladeva, and the mighty Indra, with the force of their own wings, like the peaks of great mountains,
दिक्षु सर्वासु संरावं स चक्रे गरुडो वहन्। आरुजन्पर्वताग्राणि पादपांश्च समुत्क्षिपन्
Garuḍa, carrying them, made a great sound in all directions, tearing up mountain peaks and lifting up trees.
सञ्जहार महाभ्राणि वैश्वानरपथं गतः। ग्रहनक्षत्रताराणां सप्तर्षीणां स्वतेजसा
He carried away great clouds as he moved along the path of fire, outshining the planets, stars, and the Seven Sages with his own brilliance.
प्रभाजालमतिक्रम्य चाश्विनोश्च परन्तप। प्राप्य पुण्यतमं स्थानं देवलोकमरिन्दमः
Surpassing the net of light of the Aśvins, O scorcher of foes, he reached the most sacred place—the world of the gods.
शक्रसद्म समासाद्य चावरुह्य जनार्दनः। सोऽभिवाद्यादितेः पादावर्चितः सर्वदैवतैः। ब्रह्मदक्षपुरोगैश्च प्रजापतिभिरेव च
Arriving at Indra's abode, Janārdana descended and, after bowing to Aditi's feet, was worshipped by all the gods and by the Prajāpatis led by Brahmā and Dakṣa.
अदितेः कुण्डले दिव्ये ददावथ तदा विभुः। रत्नान च परार्घ्याणि रामेण सह केशवः
Then the mighty one gave Aditi her divine earrings, and Keśava, together with Rāma, presented her with jewels of the highest value.
प्रतिगृह्य च तत्सर्वमदितिर्वासवानुजम्। पूजयामास दाशार्हं रामं च विगतज्वरा
Having received all those gifts, Aditi, free from distress, honored the Dāśārha and Rāma, the younger brother of Vāsava.
शची महेन्द्रमहिषी कृष्णस्य महिषीं तदा। सत्यभामां तु सङ्गृह्य अदित्यै सा न्यवेदयत्
Śacī, the queen of Mahendra, taking Kṛṣṇa's queen Satyabhāmā, then presented her to Aditi.
सा तस्याः सत्यभामायाः कृष्णाप्रियचिकीर्षया। वरं प्रादाद्देवमाता सत्यायै विगतज्वरा
Then the mother of the gods, wishing to please Krishna, joyfully granted Satyabhama a boon, free from all distress.
जरां न यास्यसि शुभे यावत्कृष्णोऽस्ति भूतले। सर्वगन्धगुणोपेता भविष्यसि वरानने
O lovely-faced one, as long as Krishna remains on earth, you shall not experience old age, and you shall possess all the qualities of fragrance and beauty.
विसृज्य सत्यभामा वै पौलोमीं च सुमध्यमा। शच्यापि समनुज्ञाता ययौ कृष्णनिवेशनम्
Having taken leave of Satyabhama and the slender-waisted Paulomi, and permitted by Shachi as well, she went to Krishna's abode.
सम्पूज्यमानस्त्रिदशैर्महर्षिगणसेवितः। द्वारकां प्रययौ कृष्णो देवलोकादरिन्दमः
Honored by the gods and attended by great sages, Krishna, subduer of foes, departed from the world of the gods and went to Dvaraka.
