एषा मया सम्पतता वारुणी भरतर्षभ। दृष्टपूर्वा सभा रम्या कुबेरस्य सभां शृणु
O bull among the Bharatas, this delightful assembly hall of Varuṇa, which I have seen before while traveling, has now been described by me; now hear of the assembly hall of Kubera.
सभा वैश्रवणी राजञ्शतयोजनमायता। विस्तीर्णा सप्ततिश्चैव योजनानि सितप्रभा
The assembly hall of Vaiśravaṇa, O King, is a hundred yojanas long and seventy yojanas wide, shining with a white radiance.
तपसा निर्जिता राजन्स्वयं वैश्रवणेन सा। शशिप्रभा प्रावरणा कैलासशिखरोपमा
That hall was won by Vaiśravaṇa himself through austerity, O King; its covering shines like the moon, and it resembles the peak of Mount Kailāsa.
गुह्यकैरुह्यमाना सा खे विषक्तेव शोभते। दिव्या हेममयैरुच्चैः प्रासादैरुपशोभिता
That hall, carried by the Guhyakas, appears to float in the sky, resplendent with lofty palaces made of divine gold.
महारत्नवती चित्रा दिव्यगन्धा मनोरमा। सिताभ्रशिखराकारा प्लवमानेव दृश्यते
It is adorned with great jewels, wondrous, fragrant with divine scents, delightful, and shaped like a peak of white cloud, seeming as if it floats.
दिव्या हेममयै रङ्गैर्विद्युद्भिरिव चित्रिता। तस्यां वैश्रवणो राजा विचित्राभरणाम्बरः
It is decorated with golden stages, shining like lightning; in that hall, King Vaiśravaṇa sits, adorned with varied ornaments and garments.
स्त्रीसहस्रैर्वृतः श्रीमानास्ते ज्वलितकुण्डलः। `सह पत्न्या महाराज ऋद्ध्या सह विराजते
Surrounded by thousands of women, glorious, wearing blazing earrings, he sits with his wife, O great king, radiant with prosperity.
सर्वाभरणभूषिण्या वपुष्मत्या धनेश्वरः'। दिवाकरनिभे पुण्ये दिव्यास्तरणसंवृते। दिव्यपादोपधाने च निषण्णः परमासने
The Lord of Wealth, adorned with all ornaments, possessing a splendid form, sits on a supreme seat, shining like the sun, covered with divine spreads and divine cushions.
मन्दाराणामुदाराणां वनानि परिलोडयन्। सौगन्धीकवनानां च गन्धं गन्धवहो वहन्
He moves about in the splendid groves of Mandāra trees and carries the fragrance of the Saugandhika forests.
नलिन्याश्चालकाख्याया नन्दनस्य वनस्य च। शीतो हृदयसंह्लादी वायुस्तमुपसेवते
The cool, heart-pleasing breeze from the lotus lake called Alakā and from the Nandana forest serves him.
तत्र देवाः सगन्धर्वा गणैरप्सरसां वृताः। दिव्यतानैर्महाराज गायन्तिस्म सभागताः
There, O great king, the gods, together with the Gandharvas and surrounded by groups of Apsarases, sang with celestial instruments, being present in the assembly.
मिश्रकेशी च रम्भा च चित्रसेना शुचिस्मिता। चारुनेत्रा घृताची च मेनका पुञ्जिकस्थला
Miśrakeśī, Rambhā, Citraseṇā the pure-smiled, Cārunetrā, Ghṛtācī, Menakā, and Puñjikasthalā,
विश्वाची सहजन्या च प्रम्लोचा उर्वशी
Viśvācī, Sahajanyā, Pramlocā, and Urvaśī,
वर्गा च सौरभेयी च समीची बुद्बुदा लता। एताः सहस्रशश्चान्या नृत्तगीतविशारदाः
Vargā, Saurabheyī, Samīcī, Budbudā, and Latā—these and thousands of others, skilled in dance and song.
उपतिष्ठन्ति धनदं गन्धर्वाप्सरसां गणाः। अनिशं दिव्यवादित्रैर्नृत्तगीतैश्च स सभा
The hosts of Gandharvas and Apsaras continually attend upon the Lord of Wealth, with celestial instruments, dance, and song, in that assembly.
अशून्या रुचिरा भाति गन्धर्वाप्सरसां गणैः। किन्नरा नाम गन्धर्वा नरा नाम तथाऽपरे
It shines, never empty, beautiful with the groups of Gandharvas and Apsaras; some are called Kinnaras among the Gandharvas, and others are called Naras.
माणिभद्रोऽथ धनदः श्वेतभद्रश्च गुह्यकः। कशेरको गण्डकण्डूः प्रद्योतश्च महाबलः
Manibhadra, the Lord of Wealth, Shvetabhadra the Guhyaka, Kasheraka, Gandakandu, and Pradyota of great strength are present.
कुस्तम्बरुः पिशाचश्च गजकर्णो विशालकः। वराहकर्णस्ताम्रौष्ठः फलकक्षः फलोदकः
Kustambaru, the Pisacha, Gajakarna, Vishalaka, Varahakarna, Tamraushtha, Phalakaksha, and Phalodaka are there.
हंसचूडः शइखावर्तो हेमनेत्रो विभीषणः। पुष्पाननः पिङ्गलकः शोणितोदः प्रवालकः
Hamsachuda, Shaikhavarta, Hemanetra, Vibhishana, Pushpanana, Pingalaka, Shonitoda, and Pravalaka are present.
वृक्षवास्यनिकेतश्च चीरवासाश्च भारत। एते चान्ये च बहवो यक्षाः शतसहस्रशः
There are those who dwell in trees, those who wear bark garments, O Bharata; and many other Yakshas, numbering in hundreds of thousands.
सदा भगवती लक्ष्मीस्तत्रैव नलकूबरः। अहं च बहुशस्तस्यां भवन्त्यन्ये च मद्विधाः
The divine Lakshmi is always there, along with Nalakubara; I myself and many others like me are present in that place.
ब्रह्मर्षयो भवन्त्यत्र तथा देवर्षयोऽपरे। क्रव्यादाश्च तथैवान्ये गन्धर्वाश्च महाबलाः
Brahmarshis are there, as well as other Devarshis; also flesh-eaters and powerful Gandharvas.
उपासते महात्मानं तस्यां धनदमीश्वरम्। भगवान्भूतसङ्घैश्च वृतः शतसहस्रशः
They worship the great-souled Lord of Wealth in that place, the blessed one surrounded by hosts of beings numbering in hundreds of thousands.
उमापतिः पशुपतिः शूलभृद्भगनेत्रहा। त्र्यम्बको राजशार्दूल देवी च विगतक्लमा
Umapati, Pashupati, the wielder of the trident, the destroyer of Bhaga's eye, Tryambaka, O tiger among kings, and the goddess, free from fatigue, are present.
वामनैर्विकटैः कुब्जैः क्षतजाक्षैर्महारवैः। मेदोमांसाशनैरुग्रैरुग्रधन्वा महाबलः
With dwarfs, deformed ones, hunchbacks, blood-eyed, fierce ones, those who eat fat and flesh, formidable archers of great strength.
नानाप्रहरणैरुग्रैर्वातैरिव महाजवैः। वृतः सखायमन्वास्ते सदैव धनदं नृप
Surrounded by companions armed with various fierce weapons, swift as the wind, he always attends upon the Lord of Wealth, O king.
प्रहृष्टाः शतशश्चान्ये बहुशः सपरिच्छदाः। गन्धर्वाणां च पतयो विश्वावसुर्हहा हुहूः
Many others, hundreds, joyful and with attendants, the lords of the Gandharvas: Vishvavasu, Haha, and Huhu.
तुम्बुरुः प्रवतश्चैव शैलूषश्च तथाऽपरः। चित्रसेनश्च गीतज्ञस्तथा चित्ररथोपि च
Tumburu, Pravata, Shailusha, and others; Citrashena, skilled in song, and also Citraratha.
एते चान्ये च गन्धर्वा धनेश्वरमुपासते। विद्याधराधिपश्चैव चक्रधर्मा सहानुजैः
These and other Gandharvas worship the Lord of Wealth; and the chief of the Vidyadharas, Chakradharma, with his brothers.
उपाचरति तत्र स्म धनानामीश्वरं प्रभुम्। किन्नराः शतशस्तत्र धनानामीश्वरं प्रभुम्
There, the Kinnaras in hundreds serve the Lord and master of wealth.
