Listen, dear one, as the sage’s wisdom unfolds like the boundless sky, shimmering with the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast and pure. The sage declares: “I have ever arisen, without root or rootlessness, untouched by smoke or smokiness, without lamp or lampness. I am the nectar of knowledge, equal in taste, like the sky. How can I speak of desireless desire, unattached attachment, or essence-less essence here? These concepts do not touch me. I am the nectar of knowledge, of equal taste, like the sky. How can I speak of the nondual form of all things, or the dual form? How can I speak of the eternal and non-eternal nature of all? I am the nectar of knowledge, of equal taste, like the sky. I am neither gross nor subtle, neither coming nor going. I have no beginning, end, or middle, neither higher nor lower. Truly, I speak the ultimate reality: I am the nectar of knowledge, of equal taste, like the sky. Consciousness is all the senses, like the sky; consciousness is all the objects, like the sky. Consciousness is one and pure, neither bound nor liberated. I am the nectar of knowledge, of equal taste, like the sky. I am not dense with difficult or easy comprehension, nor dense with difficult or easy perception, nor with nearness of form. I am the nectar of knowledge, of equal taste, like the sky. I am the fire that burns up actionlessness, the fire that burns up both sorrow and the absence of sorrow, the fire that burns up both embodiment and disembodiment. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. I am truly the fire that burns up both sinlessness and sin, both righteousness and unrighteousness, both bondage and freedom from bondage. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. I am without both existence and non-existence; without union and non-union; without mind and absence of mind. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. There is no notion in me of either delusion or freedom from delusion, nor of sorrow or freedom from sorrow, nor of greed or freedom from greed. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. Never for me is there the thread of worldly existence, nor the happiness of contentment. This bondage of ignorance is never for me. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. There is no change in me from the dust of worldly existence, nor from the darkness of suffering, nor from the quality that generates its own nature. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. Never is there any rule that produces suffering for me, nor any mind born of union with suffering. For this sense of ‘I’ is never mine. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. There is no cessation of motion or unmoving for me, nor any imagined creation; no end of dream or waking, nor good nor evil; no end of essence or non-essence, nor moving nor unmoving. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. This is neither the known nor the knower, nor is it to be reasoned by cause; it is beyond speech, neither mind nor intellect. So how can I tell you the truth? I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. The ultimate reality is without division or non-division; it is neither inside nor outside—how then can it be described? It is prior to creation, unattached, and nothing at all truly exists. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. I alone am the reality, free from faults such as passion and fate, free from the sorrow of worldly existence. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. If the three states do not exist, how can there be the fourth? If the three times do not exist, how can there be directions? The supreme, peaceful state is the ultimate reality. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. Long or short—there is no distinction for me; broad or narrow—there is no distinction; angular or round—there is no distinction. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. Mother, father, child and so on—never are they mine; born or dead—neither mind nor anything is ever mine. This ultimate reality is undisturbed and steady. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. Pure, supremely pure, beyond thought, of endless form; stainless, utterly stainless, beyond thought, of endless form; undivided, utterly undivided, beyond thought, of endless form—I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. How can Brahma and the other gods exist here? How can heavens and other abodes exist here? If the ultimate reality is one, pure, and without a second, I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. How can I speak of the pure that is beyond all negation, beyond all remainder, beyond all marks? I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. I always perform the supreme action that is beyond action and inaction; I delight supremely, free from attachment and non-attachment. I always delight, free from embodiment and disembodiment. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, vast as the sky. The construction of the world by illusion is not my transformation; the creation of crookedness and hypocrisy is not my transformation; the division into truth and falsehood is not my transformation. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. I am without the divisions of time such as dawn and dusk, nor do I have separation; I am not devoid of inner awakening, neither deaf nor mute. Thus, being free from all conceptual distinctions, I am not defined by pure or impure states. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. I am without master or disciple, truly undisturbed; I am without mind or absence of mind, truly undisturbed; consciousness, all distinctions gone, truly undisturbed. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. How can I describe this wilderness-like abode? How can I speak of this perfectly resolved doubt? Thus, being ever the same and undisturbed, I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. Ever shining, devoid of living beings and non-living, ever shining, devoid of seeds and seedless, ever shining, devoid of bondage and liberation. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. Ever shining, free from origination; ever shining, free from worldly existence; ever shining, free from dissolution. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. There is not even the slightest notion of name and form for you; nothing truly divided or undivided for you. O shameless mind, why do you become despondent? I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. Why do you weep, friend? There is no old age, no death; there is no suffering of birth; there is no transformation for you. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. Why do you weep, friend? There is no true form for you; no deformity; no ages for you. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. Why do you weep, friend? There are no ages for you; no minds; the senses are not yours. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. Why do you weep, friend? There is no desire for you; no greed; no delusion. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. How do you desire wealth when you have no possessions? How do you desire power when you have no wife? How do you desire power when you have no sense of ‘mine’? I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. There is no birth of the manifest world of marks for you or for me; this shameless mind appears as divided. There is no division or non-division for you or for me. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. There is not even the slightest trace of dispassion, passion, or desire in you. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. There is no meditator in your heart, nor absorption; no meditation, nor any external place; nothing to be meditated upon, nor any object or time. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky. All that is essential has been spoken to you by me; you are not, nor am I, nor is there the great, nor teacher, nor disciple. The ultimate reality is the natural, spontaneous form of freedom. I am the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky.” Thus, the sage’s vision flows on, serene and undivided, dissolving all boundaries and distinctions into the vast, ever-shining expanse of the nectar of knowledge, of one taste, like the sky.
