अहं रुद्रेभिर्वसुभिश्चराम्यहमादित्यैरुत विश्वदेवैः । अहं मित्रावरुणोभा बिभर्म्यहमिन्द्राग्नी अहमश्विनोभा
I move with the Rudras and the Vasus; I move with the Ādityas and all the gods. I bear Mitra and Varuṇa, both Ashvins; I bear Indra and Agni.
अहं राष्ट्री संगमनी वसूनां चिकितुषी प्रथमा यज्ञियानाम् । तां मा देवा व्यदधुः पुरुत्रा भूरिस्थात्रां भूर्यावेशयन्तः
I am the sovereign, the gatherer of treasures, the wise, the foremost among those worthy of sacrifice. The gods have distributed me in many places, making me manifold, abiding in many forms.
अहमेव स्वयमिदं वदामि जुष्टं देवानामुत मानुषाणाम् । यं कामये तन्तमुग्रं कृणोमि तं ब्रह्माणं तमृषिं तं सुमेधाम्
I alone declare this, which is pleasing to gods and to men. Whomever I desire, I make him powerful; I make him a priest, a sage, a wise man.
मया सोऽन्नमत्ति यो विपश्यति यः प्राणति य ईं शृणोत्युक्तम् । अमन्तवो मां त उप क्षियन्ति श्रुधि श्रुत श्रुद्धेयं ते वदामि
By me eats food, who sees, who breathes, who hears what is spoken. Those without understanding dwell near me. Hear, O hearer! I speak to you what is worthy of hearing.
अहं रुद्राय धनुरा तनोमि ब्रह्मद्विषे शरवे हन्तवा उ । अहं जनाय समदं कृणोमि अहं द्यावापृथिवी आ विवेश
For Rudra I stretch the bow, for the slayer of the Brahman-hater the arrow to be shot. I bring forth battle for the people; I pervade heaven and earth.
अहं सोममाहनसं बिभर्म्यहं त्वष्टारमुत पूषणं भगम् । अहं दधामि द्रविणा हविष्मते सुप्राव्या यजमानाय सुन्वते
I bear the pressed Soma, I bear Tvaṣṭṛ, Pūṣan, and Bhaga. I bestow wealth upon the sacrificer who offers with oblation, granting him a good dwelling.
अहं सुवे पितरमस्य मूर्धन् मम योनिरप्स्वन्तः समुद्रे । ततो वि तिष्ठे भुवनानि विश्वोतामूं द्यां वर्ष्मणोप स्पृशामि
I create the father on the summit of this world; my womb is within the waters, in the ocean. From there I extend over all beings; I touch that heaven with my greatness.
अहमेव वातैव प्र वाम्यारभमाणा भुवनानि विश्वा । परो दिवा पर एना पृथिव्यैतावती महिम्ना सं बभूव
I am the wind, breathing forth all worlds; I set all beings in motion. Beyond heaven, beyond this earth, so great is my majesty.
4.31 त्वया मन्यो सरथमारुजन्तो हर्षमाणा हृषितासो मरुत्वन् । तिग्मेषव आयुधा संशिशाना उप प्र यन्तु नरो अग्निरूपाः
With you, O Wrath, let us mount the chariot together, rejoicing, exulting, O Lord of the Maruts; let the men, sharp of arrow and bearing weapons, approach, fiery in form.
अग्निरिव मन्यो त्विषितः सहस्व सेनानीर्नः सहुरे हूत एधि । हत्वाय शत्रून् वि भजस्व वेद ओजो मिमानो वि मृधो नुदस्व
Like fire, O Wrath, blazing, endure; be our strong general, come when invoked; having struck down the enemies, divide the spoils, measure out strength, and drive away the foes.
सहस्व मन्यो अभिमातिमस्मै रुजन् मृणन् प्रमृणन् प्रेहि शत्रून् । उग्रं ते पाजो नन्वा रुरुध्रे वशी वशं नयासा एकज त्वम्
Endure, O Wrath, against the one who opposes; shatter, crush, and utterly destroy the enemies; your fierce power, indeed, has been restrained—bring the foe under control, for you are born alone.
एको बहूनामसि मन्य ईडिता विशंविशं युद्धाय सं शिशाधि । अकृत्तरुक्त्वया युजा वयं द्युमन्तं घोषं विजयाय कृण्मसि
You alone, O Wrath, are praised by many; in every company, prepare for battle; with you as our ally, not with empty words, we make a resounding, glorious cry for victory.
विजेषकृदिन्द्र इवानवब्रवोऽस्माकं मन्यो अधिपा भवेह । प्रियं ते नाम सहुरे गृणीमसि विद्मा तमुत्सं यत आबभूथ
Be our lord, O Wrath, unconquered, victorious like Indra; we praise your beloved name, O mighty one; we know that source from which you have arisen.
आभूत्या सहजा वज्र सायक सहो बिभर्षि सहभूत उत्तरम् । क्रत्वा नो मन्यो सह मेद्येधि महाधनस्य पुरुहूत संसृजि
Born together with might, O thunderbolt-armed, you bear strength, surpassing all in power; by your resolve, O Wrath, may we be victorious—O much-invoked one, share with us great wealth.
संसृष्टं धनमुभयं समाकृतमस्मभ्यं धत्तां वरुणश्च मन्युः । भियो दधाना हृदयेषु शत्रवः पराजितासो अप नि लयन्ताम्
May the wealth, gathered and amassed, be given to us by Varuṇa and Wrath; may the enemies, fear in their hearts, defeated, withdraw and disappear.
4.32 यस्ते मन्योऽविधद्वज्र सायक सह ओजः पुष्यति विश्वमानुषक्। साह्याम दासमार्यं त्वया युजा वयं सहस्कृतेन सहसा सहस्वता
O Wrath, whose weapon is the thunderbolt and arrow, whose strength and vigor pervade all humanity—may we, with you as our ally, overcome both Dāsa and Ārya, by the power of the mighty, with force and strength.
मन्युरिन्द्रो मन्युरेवास देवो मन्युर्होता वरुणो जातवेदाः । मन्युं विश ईडते मानुषीर्याः पहि नो मन्यो तपसा सजोषाः
Wrath is Indra, Wrath is indeed the god; Wrath is the Hotṛ, Varuṇa, and Jātavedas; all peoples praise Wrath—protect us, O Wrath, joined with fervor.
अभीहि मन्यो तवसस्तवीयान् तपसा युजा वि जहि शत्रून् । अमित्रहा वृत्रहा दस्युहा च विश्वा वसून्या भरा त्वं नः
Come forth, O Wrath, stronger than the strong; with your allied power, strike down the enemies; destroyer of foes, slayer of Vṛtra and Dasyu, bring all treasures to us.
त्वं हि मन्यो अभिभूत्योजाः स्वयंभूर्भामो अभिमातिषाहः । विश्वचर्षणिः सहुरिः सहीयान् अस्मास्वोजः पृतनासु धेहि
For you, O Wrath, are overpowering in strength, self-born, blazing, crusher of opposition; you are renowned among all peoples, mighty and stronger—place your power with us in battles.
अभागः सन्न् अप परेतो अस्मि तव क्रत्वा तविषस्य प्रचेतः । तं त्वा मन्यो अक्रतुर्जिहीडाहं स्वा तनूर्बलदावा न एहि
I am unfortunate, cast away, O wise and powerful one, by your will; therefore, O Wrath, I, lacking resolve, seek you—come to me as strength comes to the weak.
अयं ते अस्म्युप न एह्यर्वाङ्प्रतीचीनः सहुरे विश्वदावन् । मन्यो वज्रिन्न् अभि न आ ववृत्स्व हनाव दस्यूंरुत बोध्यापेः
Here I am for you—come near, O mighty one, ever victorious; O Wrath, wielder of the thunderbolt, turn towards us—let us strike down the Dasyus, be attentive to our call.
अभि प्रेहि दक्षिणतो भवा नोऽधा वृत्राणि जङ्घनाव भूरि । जुहोमि ते धरुणं मध्वो अग्रमुभावुपांशु प्रथमा पिबाव
Advance upon us from the right, be for us; strike down many obstacles and foes; I offer you the foremost portion of the sweet drink—let us both drink the first libation in secret.
अप नः शोशुचदघमग्ने शुशुग्ध्या रयिम् । अप नः शोशुचदघम्
Drive away from us, O Agni, the burning sin; drive it away, and grant us wealth; drive away from us the burning sin.
सुक्षेत्रिया सुगातुया वसूया च यजामहे । अप नः शोशुचदघम्
For good fields, good paths, and wealth, we worship you; drive away from us the burning sin.
प्र यद्भन्दिष्ठ एषां प्रास्माकासश्च सूरयः । अप नः शोशुचदघम्
May the blessings of these, and our own lords, be manifest; drive away from us the burning sin.
प्र यत्ते अग्ने सूरयो जायेमहि प्र ते वयम् । अप नः शोशुचदघम्
May we be born, O Agni, with your blessings; may we, with you, drive away the burning sin.
प्र यदग्नेः सहस्वतो विश्वतो यन्ति भानवः । अप नः शोशुचदघम्
As the rays of the mighty Agni go forth in all directions, may the burning sin depart from us.
त्वं हि विश्वतोमुख विश्वतः परिभूरसि । अप नः शोशुचदघम्
For you, facing all sides, encompass everything; may the burning sin depart from us.
द्विषो नो विश्वतोमुखाति नावेव पारय । अप नः शोशुचदघम्
O you who face all sides, carry us across our haters as in a boat; may the burning sin depart from us.
स नः सिन्धुमिव नावाति पर्ष स्वस्तये । अप नः शोशुचदघम्
Carry us for well-being, as a boat over a river; may the burning sin depart from us.
