यश्चर्षणिप्रो वृषभः स्वर्विद्यस्मै ग्रावाणः प्रवदन्ति नृम्णम् । यस्याध्वरः सप्तहोता मदिष्ठः स नो मुञ्चत्वंहसः
He who is the bull among men, knower of light, to whom the stones proclaim manliness, whose sacrifice has the seven priests most delightful—may he release us from sin.
यस्य वशास ऋषभास उक्षणो यस्मै मीयन्ते स्वरवः स्वर्विदे । यस्मै शुक्रः पवते ब्रह्मशुम्भितः स नो मुञ्चत्वंहसः
To whom the strong, the bulls, the sprinklers belong, to whom the singers of light are devoted, for whom the pure Soma is pressed, adorned with sacred utterance—may he release us from sin.
यस्य जुष्टिं सोमिनः कामयन्ते यं हवन्त इषुमन्तं गविष्टौ । यस्मिन्न् अर्कः शिश्रिये यस्मिन्न् ओजः स नो मुञ्चत्वंहसः
Whose favor the Soma-offerers desire, whom they invoke as the archer in battle, in whom the hymn has found rest, in whom is strength—may he release us from sin.
यः प्रथमः कर्मकृत्याय जज्ञे यस्य वीर्यं प्रथमस्यानुबुद्धम् । येनोद्यतो वज्रोऽभ्यायताहिं स नो मुञ्चत्वंहसः
Who was first born for the performance of deeds, whose power was recognized from the beginning, by whom the uplifted thunderbolt struck down the serpent—may he release us from sin.
यः संग्रामान् नयति सं युधे वशी यः पुष्टानि संसृजति द्वयानि । स्तौमीन्द्रं नाथितो जोहवीमि स नो मुञ्चत्वंहसः
Who leads armies in battle, who unites the strong and the weak, whom I, seeking help, praise and call—Indra; may he release us from sin.
वायोः सवितुर्विदथानि मन्महे यावात्मन्वद्विशथो यौ च रक्षथः । यौ विश्वस्य परिभू बभूवथुस्तौ नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
We honor the deeds of Vāyu and Savitṛ, as far as their power extends, you who protect the paths, you who have become the guardians of all—may you both release us from sin.
ययोः संख्याता वरिमा पार्हिवानि याभ्यां रजो युपितमन्तरिक्षे । ययोः प्रायं नान्वानशे कश्चन तौ नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
Whose measured distances are the boundaries of the worlds, by whom the region between earth and sky is filled, whose approach none can surpass—may you both release us from sin.
तव व्रते नि विशन्ते जनासस्त्वय्युदिते प्रेरते चित्रभानो । युवं वायो सविता च भुवनानि रक्षथस्तौ नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
At your command, O radiant one, people settle; when you rise and set, O brilliant one. You, Vāyu and Savitṛ, protect the worlds—may you both release us from sin.
अपेतो वायो सविता च दुष्कृतमप रक्षांसि शिमिदां च सेधतम् । सं ह्यूर्जया सृजथः सं बलेन तौ नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
Drive away, O Vāyu and Savitṛ, all evil and demons, destroy the sorcerers; together you bestow strength and vigor—may you both release us from sin.
रयिं मे पोषं सवितोत वायुस्तनू दक्षमा सुवतां सुशेवम् । अयक्ष्मतातिं मह इह धत्तं तौ नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
May Savitṛ and Vāyu grant me wealth and abundance, may they bestow skill and good fortune upon my body; remove all misfortune from here—may you both release us from sin.
प्र सुमतिं सवितर्वाय ऊतये महस्वन्तं मत्सरं मादयाथः । अर्वाग्वामस्य प्रवतो नि यच्छतं तौ नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
May Savitṛ and Vāyu gladden us with their great favor and mighty assistance; direct towards us the flow of your bounty—may you both release us from sin.
उप श्रेष्ठा न आशिषो देवयोर्धामन्न् अस्थिरन् । स्तौमि देवं सवितारं च वायुं तौ नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
The highest blessings of the two gods have been established in the home; I praise the god Savitṛ and Vāyu—may they both release us from sin.
मन्वे वां द्यावापृथिवी सुभोजसौ सचेतसौ ये अप्रथेथाममिता योजनानि । प्रतिष्ठे ह्यभवतं वसूनां ते नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
I honor you, O Heaven and Earth, mighty and bountiful, conscious ones who have stretched out unmeasured distances; you became the firm foundation of riches—release us from sin.
प्रतिष्ठे ह्यभवतं वसूनां प्रवृद्धे देवी सुभगे उरूची । द्यावापृथिवी भवतं मे स्योने ते नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
You became the firm foundation of riches, O divine, greatly expanded, blessed, and wide ones; Heaven and Earth, be kindly disposed toward me—release us from sin.
असन्तापे सुतपसौ हुवेऽहमुर्वी गम्भीरे कविभिर्नमस्ये । द्यावापृथिवी भवतं मे स्योने ते नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
Unwearied, possessing excellent warmth, I call upon you, vast and deep, worthy of reverence by the wise; Heaven and Earth, be kindly disposed toward me—release us from sin.
ये अमृतं बिभृथो ये हवींषि ये स्रोत्या बिभृथो ये मनुष्यान् । द्यावापृथिवी भवतं मे स्योने ते नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
You who bear the immortal, who bear the offerings, who bear the flowing streams, who bear humankind; Heaven and Earth, be kindly disposed toward me—release us from sin.
ये उस्रिया बिभृथो ये वनस्पतीन् ययोर्वां विश्वा भुवनान्यन्तः । द्यावापृथिवी भवतं मे स्योने ते नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
You who bear the cows, who bear the forest trees, within whom all beings abide; Heaven and Earth, be kindly disposed toward me—release us from sin.
ये कीलालेन तर्पयथो ये घृतेन याभ्यामृते न किं चन शक्नुवन्ति । द्यावापृथिवी भवतं मे स्योने ते नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
You who are satisfied with the libation, with ghee, by whom, without nectar, nothing is possible; Heaven and Earth, be kindly disposed toward me—release us from sin.
यन् मेदमभिशोचति येनयेन वा कृतं पौरुषेयान् न दैवात्। स्तौमि द्यावापृथिवी नाथितो जोहवीमि ते नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
Whatever this man grieves for, whatever has been done by man, not by the gods, I praise Heaven and Earth, seeking help, I call upon you—release us from sin.
मरुतां मन्वे अधि मे ब्रुवन्तु प्रेमं वाजं वाजसाते अवन्तु । आशून् इव सुयमान् अह्व ऊतये ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
I call upon the Maruts; may they speak on my behalf, may they grant me strength and victory; as swift horses are harnessed for help, so may they release us from sin.
उत्समक्षितं व्यचन्ति ये सदा य आसिञ्चन्ति रसमोषधीषु । पुरो दधे मरुतः पृश्निमातॄंस्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
Those who always distribute the inexhaustible, who pour out sap into the plants; the Maruts, with Pṛśni as their mother, I set before me—may they release us from sin.
पयो धेनूनां रसमोषधीनां जवमर्वतां कवयो य इन्वथ । शग्मा भवन्तु मरुतो नः स्योनास्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
The milk of cows, the sap of plants, the speed of swift horses, which the wise ones inspire; may the Maruts be gracious to us—may they release us from sin.
अपः समुद्राद्दिवमुद्वहन्ति दिवस्पृथिवीमभि ये सृजन्ति । ये अद्भिरीशाना मरुतश्चरन्ति ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
Waters they carry from the ocean to the sky, from the sky they send forth upon the earth; those Maruts who rule with the waters—may they release us from sin.
ये कीलालेन तर्पयन्ति ये घृतेन ये वा वयो मेदसा संसृजन्ति । ये अद्भिरीशाना मरुतो वर्षयन्ति ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
Those who are satisfied with the libation, with ghee, or who join the birds with fat; those Maruts who rule with the waters, who make it rain—may they release us from sin.
यदीदिदं मरुतो मारुतेन यदि देवा दैव्येनेदृगार । यूयमीशिध्वे वसवस्तस्य निष्कृतेस्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
If this has happened, O Maruts, by your wind, or by the gods, by divine ordinance, you, O givers of wealth, are the rulers of that expiation—may you release us from sin.
तिग्ममनीकं विदितं सहस्वन् मारुतं शर्धः पृतनासूग्रम् । स्तौमि मरुतो नाथितो जोहवीमि ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
Fierce-faced, renowned, mighty, the Marut host, strong in battle and formidable; I praise the Maruts, seeking help, I call upon you—may you release us from sin.
भवाशर्वौ मन्वे वां तस्य वित्तं ययोर्वामिदं प्रदिशि यद्विरोचते । यावस्येशाथे द्विपदो यौ चतुष्पदस्तौ नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
O Bhava and Sharva, I honor you; know of that which belongs to you, whatever shines forth in this region; you are the lords of all that has two feet and four—may you release us from sin.
ययोरभ्यभ्व उत यद्दूरे चिद्यौ विदिताविषुभृतामसिष्ठौ । यावस्येशथे द्विपदो यौ चतुष्पदस्तौ नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
Whatever is near you, or even what is far, you know it all, you two who hold the bow; you are the lords of all that has two feet and four—may you release us from sin.
सहस्राक्षौ वृत्रहना हुवेहं दूरेगव्यूती स्तुवन्न् एम्युग्रौ । यावस्येशथे द्विपदो यौ चतुष्पदस्तौ नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
A thousand-eyed, slayers of Vṛtra, I call you here, praising you, O mighty ones, even from afar; you are the lords of all that has two feet and four—may you release us from sin.
यावारेभाथे बहु साकमग्रे प्र चेदस्राष्ट्रमभिभां जनेषु । यावस्येशथे द्विपदो यौ चतुष्पदस्तौ नो मुञ्चतमंहसः
As far as you two go together, in the midst of the many, you have spread your rule among the people; you are the lords of all that has two feet and four—may you release us from sin.
