You are the maker of kin, you are indeed the maker of in-laws; you are made by the spell, cut off the offspring like a river cuts the rainy season.
You are empowered by the Brahmin, by Kaṇva, by Nārṣada; you go forth with brightness, O plant, there is no fear where you reach.
You go at the head of the plants, shining like a light; you are the protector from harm, and also the slayer of demons.

When the gods set apart the Asuras at the beginning with you, then, O plant apāmārga, you were born among the plants.
Splitting, with a hundred branches—Splitting is the name of your father; split back, you, the one who attacks us.
It arose from the unfirm earth, that which goes widely; let that, having been fumigated from there, reach the one who turns back.
You have become turned back, you are fruit facing backward; drive away all harm from my path, and avert destruction.
Protect me with a hundred, guard me with a thousand; Indra has placed in you, plant, fierce and mighty power.
She sees forward, she sees backward, she sees afar, she sees; the goddess sees all—heaven, the midspace, and earth.
Three are the heavens, three are the earths, and these six directions separately; with you, O divine plant, I see all beings.
You are the pupil of the divine bird; she has mounted the earth, weary like a bride carried home.
The thousand-eyed god has placed her in my right hand; with her I see everything, both the servant and the noble.
Reveal your forms, do not hide yourself; and you, thousand-eyed, look upon what is here.
Show me the sorceresses, show me the sorcerers; show me all the demons, for this I take you, O plant.
You are the eye of Kaśyapa, and of the four-eyed Śunī; do not let the demon hide, as the sun moves openly in the sky.
Guard me from the upward-seizing, from the encircling sorcerer; with this I see all, both the servant and the noble.
Who flies through the midspace, and who glides beyond the sky, who considers the earth as his master—reveal that demon to us.
The cows have come; they have brought good fortune. Let them settle in the enclosure and bellow for us. May they be prolific, of many forms, here; may they yield abundant milk for Indra, as did the ancient dawns.
Indra favors the sacrificer and the one who praises him; he gives freely and does not withhold his own. Increasing ever more the wealth of such a one, he places undivided, divine riches in the storehouse.
They are not lost, nor does the thief harm them; no enemy or adversary overcomes them. With these cows, one worships the gods and gives; the lord of cattle prospers with them.
No worm or insect reaches them, nor do they approach any prepared poison. These cows roam widely and fearlessly for the mortal sacrificer.
Cows are fortune, cows are Indra—may I desire cows, the first portion of Soma. These cows, O people, are Indra's; with heart and mind I desire Indra.
You cows make even the lean one thrive, you make the unlovely beautiful. Make the home auspicious, speak words of blessing; your fame is great in the assemblies.
Prolific, shining, pure, drinking clear water with good streams—may neither thief nor slanderer rule over you; may Rudra's missile turn away from you.
Indra, increase this kshatriya for me; make him the sole bull among the people. Drive away all his enemies; let me defeat them in the contests.
Grant him a share in the village, among horses and cows; grant him a settled share, and not to his enemy. May he have the highest station among rulers; O Indra, crush all his foes for him.
Let him be the lord of wealth among the wealthy, the chief of the people, their king. O Indra, place great splendors in him; make his enemy devoid of splendor.
For him, O Heaven and Earth, yield abundant riches, as milch-cows yield warm milk. May this king be dear to Indra, dear to cows, plants, and cattle.
I yoke for you the Indra who brings victory in the north, by whom men win and are not defeated. May he make you the sole bull among men, and the foremost among human kings.
You are higher; your rivals are below, O king, and all who are your adversaries. As the sole bull, Indra's friend, may you live long; let your enemies be subdued, bring in the offerings.
