प्रवतो नपान् नम एवास्तु तुभ्यं नमस्ते हेतये तपुषे च कृण्मः । विद्म ते धाम परमं गुहा यत्समुद्रे अन्तर्निहितासि नाभिः
Homage ever to you, offspring of the mountain; homage to you, O weapon; we make for you a fiery offering; we know your highest abode, hidden in secret, your navel placed within the ocean.
यां त्वा देवा असृजन्त विश्व इषुं कृण्वाना असनाय धृष्णुम् । सा नो मृड विदथे गृणाना तस्यै ते नमो अस्तु देवि
You whom the gods have fashioned, a universal arrow, strong for slaying, may you be gracious to us in the assembly, O goddess, as we praise you; to you be homage.
भगमस्या वर्च आदिष्यधि वृक्षादिव स्रजम् । महाबुध्न इव पर्वतो ज्योक्पितृष्वास्ताम्
May you obtain the fortune of this woman, as one takes a garland from a tree; like a great-rooted mountain, may you long abide among your ancestors.
एषा ते राजन् कन्या वधूर्नि धूयतां यम । सा मातुर्बध्यतां गृहेऽथो भ्रातुरथो पितुः
Here is your maiden bride, O King Yama; let her be led to the house of her mother, or her brother, or her father.
एषा ते कुलपा राजन् तामु ते परि दद्मसि । ज्योक्पितृष्वासाता आ शीर्ष्णः शमोप्यात्
Here is your family guardian, O King; to you we entrust her; may she long abide among her ancestors, and peace come upon her head.
असितस्य ते ब्रह्मणा कश्यपस्य गयस्य च । अन्तःकोशमिव जामयोऽपि नह्यामि ते भगम्
With the power of Asita, of Kaśyapa, and of Gaya, even as wives are bound within the inner chamber, so I bind your fortune to you.
सं सं स्रवन्तु सिन्धवः सं वाताः सं पतत्रिणः । इमं यज्ञं प्रदिवो मे जुषन्तां संस्राव्येण हविषा जुहोमि
May the rivers flow together, may the winds unite, may the birds come together; may they accept this sacrifice of mine from the sky, I offer with united oblation.
इहैव हवमा यात म इह संस्रावणा उतेमं वर्धयता गिरः । इहैतु सर्वो यः पशुरस्मिन् तिष्ठतु या रयिः
Come here, O invoked ones, come here with united streams, increase this praise; let every animal and all wealth remain here.
ये नदीनां संस्रवन्त्युत्सासः सदमक्षिताः । तेभिर्मे सर्वैः संस्रावैर्धनं सं स्रावयामसि
Those inexhaustible springs of the rivers that flow together, with all those united streams, may we bring wealth together.
ये सर्पिषः संस्रवन्ति क्षीरस्य चोदकस्य च तेभिर्मे सर्वैः संस्रावैर्धनं सं स्रावयामसि
Those streams of clarified butter, of milk, and of water that flow together, with all those united streams, may we bring wealth together.
येऽमावास्यां रात्रिमुदस्थुर्व्राजमत्त्रिणः । अग्निस्तुरीयो यातुहा सो अस्मभ्यमधि ब्रवत्
Those who rose up on the new moon night, the cattle-eaters, the thieves; Agni, the fourth, the destroyer of the way, may he speak for us.
सीसायाध्याह वरुणः सीसायाग्निरुपावति । सीसं म इन्द्रः प्रायच्छत्तदङ्ग यातुचातनम्
For lead, Varuṇa is invoked; for lead, Agni is called upon; Indra has driven away the lead—may that, indeed, be the dispeller of sorcery.
इदं विष्कन्धं सहत इदं बाधते अत्त्रिणः । अनेन विश्वा ससहे या जातानि पिशाच्याः
This repels the outgrowth, this drives away the one who brings harm; by this I withstand all the beings that are born as fiends.
यदि नो गां हंसि यद्यश्वं यदि पूरुषम् । तं त्वा सीसेन विध्यामो यथा नोऽसो अवीरहा
If you harm our cow, or our horse, or a man, then we shall strike you with lead, so that our cattle may not be lost.
अमूर्या यन्ति योषितो हिरा लोहितवाससः । अभ्रातर इव जामयस्तिष्ठन्तु हतवर्चसः
Those women go forth, adorned in red garments, without husbands, like sisters-in-law; let them stand, bereft of vigor.
तिष्ठावरे तिष्ठ पर उत त्वं तिष्ठ मध्यमे । कनिष्ठिका च तिष्ठति तिष्ठादिद्धमनिर्मही
Stand firm, eldest; stand, you who are next; and you, stand, middle one; let the youngest also stand—let the whole line stand firm.
शतस्य धमनीनां सहस्रस्य हिराणाम् । अस्थुरिन् मध्यमा इमाः साकमन्ता अरंसत
Of a hundred vessels, of a thousand treasures, these middle ones have stood firm; together with the ends, they have been arranged.
परि वः सिकतावती धनूर्बृहत्यक्रमीत्। तिष्ठतेलयता सु कम्
Around you, the great bow strung with sand has been drawn; stand firm, remain steady, be well.
निर्लक्ष्म्यं ललाम्यं निररातिं सुवामसि । अथ या भद्रा तानि नः प्रजाया अरातिं नयामसि
We drive away misfortune, ill-mark, and poverty; but whatever is auspicious, may those blessings come to our offspring, and may we lead away enmity.
निररणिं सविता साविषक्पदोर्निर्हस्तयोर्वरुणो मित्रो अर्यमा । निरस्मभ्यमनुमती रराणा प्रेमां देवा असाविषुः सौभगाय
Savitṛ has driven away strife from our feet and hands; Varuṇa, Mitra, and Aryaman have removed it; Anumati, favoring us, has driven it away—the gods have granted us prosperity.
यत्त आत्मनि तन्वां घोरमस्ति यद्वा केशेषु प्रतिचक्षणे वा । सर्वं तद्वाचाप हन्मो वयं देवस्त्वा सविता सूदयतु
Whatever is fierce in your body or in your hair, or in any part, all that we destroy with words; may the god Savitṛ lay it low.
रिश्यपदीं वृषदतीं गोषेधां विधमामुत । विलीढ्यं ललाम्यं ता अस्मन् नाशयामसि
The one with the foot of a lynx, the strong, the cow-thief, the destroyer—whatever is ill-marked or evil, we drive those away from us.
मा नो विदन् विव्याधिनो मो अभिव्याधिनो विदन् । आराच्छरव्या अस्मद्विषूचीरिन्द्र पातय
Let not the piercers strike us, nor let the over-piercers strike; O Indra, cast far away from us the arrows that come from all sides.
विष्वञ्चो अस्मच्छरवः पतन्तु ये अस्ता ये चास्याः । दैवीर्मनुष्येषवो ममामित्रान् वि विध्यत
Let the arrows fall away from us in all directions, those that are here and those that are there; divine and human missiles, scatter my enemies.
यो नः स्वो यो अरणः सजात उत निष्ट्यो यो अस्मामभिदासति । रुद्रः शरव्ययैतान् ममामित्रान् वि विध्यतु
Whoever among us is our own, or a stranger, or a relative, or an outsider who attacks us—may Rudra scatter all those enemies with his arrows.
यः सपत्नो योऽसपत्नो यश्च द्विषन् छपाति नः । देवास्तं सर्वे धूर्वन्तु ब्रह्म वर्म ममान्तरम्
Whoever is a rival, or not a rival, or whoever hates and attacks us—may all the gods destroy him; let prayer be my inner armor.
अदारसृद्भवतु देव सोमास्मिन् यज्ञे मरुतो मृडता नः । मा नो विददभिभा मो अशस्तिर्मा नो विदद्वृजिना द्वेष्या या
Let Soma, the god, be gracious in this sacrifice; O Maruts, show us mercy. Let not the hostile one overpower us, nor let any evil or hateful act befall us.
यो अद्य सेन्यो वधोऽघायूनामुदीरते । युवं तं मित्रावरुणावस्मद्यावयतं परि
Whoever today raises a weapon against the sinful, O Mitra and Varuṇa, drive him far away from us.
इतश्च यदमुतश्च यद्वधं वरुण यावय । वि महच्छर्म यच्छ वरीयो यावया वधम्
From here or from there, whatever danger there is, O Varuṇa, drive it away; spread out your great shield, O mighty one, and ward off the harm.
शास इत्था महामस्यमित्रसाहो अस्तृतः । न यस्य हन्यते सखा न जीयते कदा चन
He is thus commanded, mighty, unconquered, victorious over foes; his friend is never slain, nor is he ever defeated.
