ये च देवा अयजन्ताथो ये च पराददिः । सूर्यो दिवमिव गत्वाय मघवा नो वि रप्शते
And those gods who did not sacrifice, and those who gave away to others—having gone to heaven like the Sun, Maghavan does not abandon us.
योऽनाक्ताक्षो अनभ्यक्तो अमणिवो अहिरण्यवः । अब्रह्मा ब्रह्मणः पुत्रस्तोता कल्पेषु संमिता
He whose eyes are unwashed, who is unadorned, who is without a necklace, who is without gold, who is not a priest, the son of a priest—he is a chanter, recognized in the rituals.
य आक्ताक्षः सुभ्यक्तः सुमणिः सुहिरण्यवः । सुब्रह्मा ब्रह्मणः पुत्रस्तोता कल्पेषु संमिता
He whose eyes are washed, who is well adorned, who is well decked with a necklace, who is richly golden, who is a good priest, the son of a priest—he is a chanter, recognized in the rituals.
प्रपाणा च वेशन्ता रेवामप्रतिदिश्ययः । अयभ्या कन्या कल्याणी तोता कल्पेषु संमिता
She who has broad palms, who is adorned, who is splendid in every direction, the maiden, beautiful and worthy, is a chanter, recognized in the rituals.
सुप्रपाणा च वेशन्ता रेवान्त्सुप्रतिदिश्ययः । सुयभ्या कन्या कल्याणी तोता कल्पेषु संमिता
She who has beautiful broad palms, who is adorned, who is splendid in every direction, the maiden, beautiful and worthy, is a chanter, recognized in the rituals.
परिवृक्ता च महिषी स्वस्त्या च युधिं गमः । अनाशुरश्चायामी तोता कल्पेषु संमिता
She who is set apart, the queen, who goes to battle with well-being, and he who is tireless and strong—these are chanters, recognized in the rituals.
वावाता च महिषी स्वस्त्या च युधिं गमः । श्वाशुरश्चायामी तोता कल्पेषु संमिता
May you, O queen, go forth to battle with favoring winds and with well-being; may your father-in-law and mother-in-law be in harmony with you in the assemblies.
यदिन्द्रादो दाशराज्ञे मानुषं वि गाहथाः । विरूपः सर्वस्मा आसीत्सह यक्षाय कल्पते
Whatever, O Indra, you have done for the king of the people, dividing mankind, all that was wondrous and diverse; it is fit for the sacrifice.
त्वं वृषाक्षुं मघवन्न् अम्रं मर्याकरो रविः । त्वं रौहिणं व्यास्यो वि वृत्रस्याभिनच्छिरः
You, O bountiful one, made the bull strong, made the mortal radiant like the sun; you shattered the head of Vritra, you drove away the demon Rauhiṇa.
यः पर्वतान् व्यदधाद्यो अपो व्यगाहथाः । इन्द्रो यो वृत्रहान्महं तस्मादिन्द्र नमोऽस्तु ते
He who set the mountains in place, who entered the waters, Indra, the great slayer of Vritra—to you, Indra, be homage.
पृष्ठं धावन्तं हर्योरौच्चैः श्रवसमब्रुवन् । स्वस्त्यश्व जैत्रायेन्द्रमा वह सुस्रजम्
They spoke to the swift pair, the steeds of high renown, as they ran on the track: 'With well-being, O horse, carry Indra to victory, adorned with a fair garland.'
ये त्वा श्वेता अजैश्रवसो हार्यो युञ्जन्ति दक्षिणम् । पूर्वा नमस्य देवानां बिभ्रदिन्द्र महीयते
Those white, high-spirited steeds, whom you, O Indra, harness to the right side, you, bearing the ancient homage of the gods, are magnified.
20.129 एता अश्वा आ प्लवन्ते
These horses swim forth.
प्रतीपं प्राति सुत्वनम्
They go against the current, seeking the well-pressed Soma.
तासामेका हरिक्निका
Among them, one is golden-maned.
हरिक्निके किमिछासि
Golden-maned one, what do you desire?
साधुं पुत्रं हिरण्ययम्
A good son, rich in gold.
क्वाहतं परास्यः
Where has he gone, the one from afar?
यत्रामूस्तिस्रः शिंशपाः
Where those three, the śiṃśapā trees, stand.
परि त्रयः
Around the three.
पृदाकवः
The guardians of the ford.
शृङ्गं धमन्त आसते
They sit blowing the horn.
अयन्महा ते अर्वाहः
This is your great coming, O horse.
स इच्छकं सघाघते
He, indeed, strives together with his companion.
सघाघते गोमीद्या गोगतीरिति
She who is in the household, who is rich in cows, who goes with the cows, thus it is said.
पुमां कुस्ते निमिच्छसि
You, O man, lie down on the kushta grass.
पल्प बद्ध वयो इति
The young bird is bound, thus it is said.
बद्ध वो अघा इति
Bound are your sins, thus it is said.
अजागार केविका
The kevikā has awakened.
अश्वस्य वारो गोशपद्यके
The horse's turn is at the cow's hoof-mark.
