सुष्ठामा रथः सुयमा हरी ते मिम्यक्ष वज्रो नृपते गभस्तौ । शीभं राजन् सुपथा याह्यर्वाङ्वर्धाम ते पपुसो वृष्ण्यानि
Your chariot is well-made, your steeds well-yoked, O lord; the thunderbolt is in your grasp, O king. O ruler, travel by the good path; let your manly powers increase for us, O Soma-drinker.
एन्द्रवाहो नृपतिं वज्रबाहुमुग्रमुग्रासस्तविषास एनम् । प्रत्वक्षसं वृषभं सत्यशुष्ममेमस्मत्रा सधमादो वहन्तु
Let those who bear Indra, the king, the thunder-armed, the fierce, the fierce-armed, the powerful, carry him, the bull with true strength, whose form is turned toward us, to our assembly.
एवा पतिं द्रोणसाचं सचेतसमूर्ज स्कम्भं धरुण आ वृषायसे । ओजः कृष्व सं गृभाय त्वे अप्यसो यथा केनिपानामिनो वृधे
Thus, as lord, as the wise one, as the support of strength, you are established in the vessel, O vigorous one. Take up your power, seize it for yourself, as the Kenipānas, ever increasing, do.
गमन्न् अस्मे वसून्या हि शंसिषं स्वाशिषं भरमा याहि सोमिनः । त्वमीशिषे सास्मिन्न् आ सत्सि बर्हिष्यनाधृष्या तव पात्राणि धर्मणा
May riches come to us; I have praised you. Bring us your favor, bring the blessings of the Soma-offerer. You are the lord; sit here on this sacred grass, invincible, your vessels established by law.
पृथक्प्रायन् प्रथमा देवहूतयोऽकृण्वत श्रवस्यानि दुष्टरा । न ये शेकुर्यज्ञियां नावमारुहमिर्मैव ते न्यविशन्त केपयः
Separately, the first divine invocations have made renowned, hard-to-overcome things. Those who could not board the sacrificial ship did not settle among the Kenipas.
एवैवापागपरे सन्तु दूध्योऽश्वा येषां दुर्युग आयुयुज्रे । इत्था ये प्रागुपरे सन्ति दावने पुरूणि यत्र वयुनानि भोजना
Let those who are far away, at the other shore, remain distant—whose horses are badly yoked. Thus, those who are earlier or later at the burning, where there are many paths and foods.
गिरींरज्रान् रेजमानामधारयद्द्यौः क्रन्ददन्तरिक्षाणि कोपयत्। समीचीने धिषणे वि ष्कभायति वृष्णः पीत्वा मद उक्थानि शंसति
When the trembling mountain was upheld, the heavens roared and the midspaces were shaken; the wise one, drawing near, steadies both, and the mighty one, having drunk the exhilaration, proclaims the hymns.
इमं बिभर्मि सुकृतं ते अङ्कुशं येनारुजासि मघवं छफारुजः । अस्मिन्त्सु ते सवने अस्त्वोक्त्यं सुत इष्टौ मघवन् बोध्याभगः
I hold for you this well-made goad, by which you strike Maghavan and break the hooves; may the pressed and offered Soma be your portion in this very sacrifice, O Maghavan, be awake to the share.
गोभिष्टरेमामतिं दुरेवां यवेन क्षुधं पुरुहूत विश्वाम् । वयं राजभिः प्रथमा धनान्यस्माकेन वृजनेना जयेम
With cows, with barley, with all food, O much-invoked one, drive away hunger and all harm; may we, with our leaders, win the foremost wealth by our own force in the contest.
बृहस्पतिर्नः परि पातु पश्चादुतोत्तरस्मादधरादघयोः । इन्द्रः पुरस्तादुत मध्यतो नः सखा सखिभ्यो वरिवः कृणोतु
May Bṛhaspati protect us from behind, from above, from below, from all harm; may Indra guard us in front and in the middle, as a friend, making a path for his friends.
त्रिकद्रुकेषु महिषो यवाशिरं तुविशुष्मस्तृपत्सोममपिबद्विष्णुना सुतं यथावशत्। स ईं ममाद महि कर्म कर्तवे महामुरुं सैनं सश्चद्देवो देवं सत्यमिन्द्रं सत्य इन्दुः
In the three-wooded pressings, the buffalo with barley on his head, very strong, drank the Soma as he wished, pressed by Viṣṇu; he rejoiced in it, to perform a great deed, the god accompanied the god, the true Indra with the true Soma.
प्रो ष्वस्मै पुरोरथमिन्द्राय शूषमर्चत । अभीके चिदु लोककृत्संगे समत्सु वृत्रहास्माकं बोधि चोदिता नभन्तामन्यकेषां ज्याका अधि धन्वसु
Sing forth strength for Indra, the chariot-leader, in the forefront; even in the gathering, in the battles, O slayer of Vṛtra, be our inspiration; let the bowstrings of others be broken on the fields.
त्वं सिन्धूंरवासृजोऽधराचो अहन्न् अहिम् । अशत्रुरिन्द्र जज्ञिषे विश्वं पुष्यसि वार्यं तं त्वा परि ष्वजामहे नभन्तामन्यकेषां ज्याका अधि धन्वसु
You released the rivers, you struck down the serpent below; you were born unconquered, Indra, you possess all treasures; we embrace you, let the bowstrings of others be broken on the fields.
वि षु विश्वा अरातयोऽर्यो नशन्त नो धियः । अस्तासि शत्रवे वधं यो न इन्द्र जिघांसति या ते रातिर्ददिर्वसु । नभन्तामन्यकेषां ज्यका अधि धन्वसु
Scatter all our enemies, let the hostile ones perish, let not our thoughts be lost; set destruction for the foe who seeks to harm us, Indra, whatever your gift, O giver of wealth; let the bowstrings of others be broken on the fields.
तीव्रस्याभिवयसो अस्य पाहि सर्वरथा वि हरी इह मुञ्च । इन्द्र मा त्वा यजमानासो अन्ये नि रीरमन् तुभ्यमिमे सुतासः
Protect us from this sharp, overwhelming attack; drive away all harm, release us here; O Indra, let not other worshippers detain you, these pressed offerings are for you.
तुभ्यं सुतास्तुभ्यमु सोत्वासस्त्वां गिरः श्वात्र्या आ ह्वयन्ति । इन्द्रेदमद्य सवनं जुषाणो विश्वस्य विद्वामिह पाहि सोमम्
For you are the pressed offerings, for you the libations; to you the hymns, with eager voice, call; O Indra, delighting in this very sacrifice today, knowing all, drink the Soma here.
य उशता मनसा सोममस्मै सर्वहृदा देवकामः सुनोति । न गा इन्द्रस्तस्य परा ददाति प्रशस्तमिच्चारुमस्मै कृणोति
He who, with eager mind and all his heart, presses Soma for him, desiring the god, Indra does not take away his cattle; rather, he makes for him what is praised and beautiful.
अनुस्पष्टो भवत्येषो अस्य यो अस्मै रेवान् न सुनोति सोमम् । निररत्नौ मघवा तं दधाति ब्रह्मद्विषो हन्त्यनानुदिष्टः
But this one becomes despised, who does not press Soma for him, though he is wealthy; Maghavan makes him destitute, he strikes down the Brahman-hater, the one not properly addressed.
अश्वायन्तो गव्यन्तो वाजयन्तो हवामहे त्वोपगन्तवा उ । आभूषन्तस्ते सुमतौ नवायां वयमिन्द्र त्वा शुनं हुवेम
Those who seek horses, who seek cows, who seek prizes, we call you, O Indra, who should come to us; may we adorn you with new favor, O Indra, we call you for blessing.
मुञ्चामि त्वा हविषा जीवनाय कमज्ञातयक्ष्मादुत राजयक्ष्मात्। ग्राहिर्जग्राह यद्येतद्तस्या इन्द्राग्नी प्र मुमुक्तमेनम्
I release you with offering for life, from known and royal disease; if the seizure has seized this one, O Indra and Agni, release him from it.
यदि क्षितायुर्यदि वा परेतो यदि मृत्योरन्तिकं नीत एव । तमा हरामि निर्ऋतेरुपस्थादस्पार्शमेनं शतशारदाय
Whether his life is diminished or he is departed, or has been brought near to death, I draw him away from the lap of destruction, untouched, for a hundred autumns.
सहस्राक्षेण शतवीर्येण शतायुषा हविषाहार्षमेनम् । इन्द्रो यथैनं शरदो नयात्यति विश्वस्य दुरितस्य पारम्
With a thousand eyes, with a hundredfold strength, with a hundred years of life, I have taken him with offering; as Indra leads him through the autumns, may he cross beyond all misfortune.
शतं जीव शरदो वर्धमानः शतं हेमन्तान् छतमु वसन्तान् । शतं त इन्द्रो अग्निः सविता बृहस्पतिः शतायुषा हविषाहार्षमेनम्
Live a hundred autumns, growing; a hundred winters, a hundred springs; may Indra, Agni, Savitṛ, Bṛhaspati grant you a hundred years of life, I have taken him with offering.
आहार्षमविदं त्वा पुनरागाः पुनर्णवः । सर्वाङ्ग सर्वं ते चक्षुः सर्वमायुश्च तेऽविदम्
I have taken you, I have found you; you have returned, renewed; all your limbs, all your sight, all your life I have found for you.
ब्रह्मणाग्निः संविदानो रक्षोहा बाधतामितः । अमीवा यस्ते गर्भं दुर्णामा योनिमाशये
May Agni, united with Brahman, the destroyer of demons, drive away from here the disease that has seized your embryo, that evil affliction lodged in the womb.
यस्ते गर्भममीवा दुर्णामा योनिमाशये । अग्निष्टं ब्रह्मणा सह निष्क्रव्यादमनीनशत्
That disease which has seized your embryo, that evil affliction lodged in the womb—may Agni, together with Brahman, expel it, driving out the devourer of flesh.
यस्ते हन्ति पतयन्तं निषत्स्नुं यः सरीसृपम् । जातं यस्ते जिघांसति तमितो नाशयामसि
Whatever attacks you, whether flying, sitting, or crawling, whatever is born and seeks to harm you, that, from here, we destroy.
यस्त ऊरू विहरत्यन्तरा दम्पती शये । योनिं यो अन्तरारेल्हि तमितो नाशयामसि
Whatever moves between your thighs while the couple lies together, whatever enters the womb—this, from here, we destroy.
यस्त्वा भ्राता पतिर्भूत्वा जारो भूत्वा निपद्यते । प्रजां यस्ते जिघांसति तमितो नाशयामसि
Whoever, being your brother, becomes your husband, or as a lover lies with you, whatever seeks to harm your offspring, that, from here, we destroy.
यस्त्वा स्वप्नेन तमसा मोहयित्वा निपद्यते । प्रजां यस्ते जिघांसति तमितो नाशयामसि
Whoever, having deluded you with sleep and darkness, lies with you, whatever seeks to harm your offspring, that, from here, we destroy.
