Destroy all outcry, silence the neighing horse; O Indra, grant us your favor among cattle, among horses, among the bright ones, among thousands, O bountiful one.
Three pairs of helpers have released you, O Indra, as the guides of the herd, the droves of cattle; when two peoples, seeking cattle or sunlight, you gather together, then reveal the mighty, ever-strong thunderbolt, O Indra.
The Purus knew of this strength of yours, O Indra, when you descended upon the autumnal forts, conquering as you descended; command, O Indra, the mortal who does not sacrifice, O lord of might; scorch the vast earth, dry up these waters, these flowing waters.
From this strength of yours, O bull, they rejoiced in the Soma-pressings, when you, O Indra, aided the Usijs as a friend; you made a path for them to advance in battle; they, seeking fame, crossed one river after another.
Like a wheel set in the forest, pure is the hymn, eager for praise, striving for victory; for whom, O Indra, you are the Hotar among men, the best of men, the lord of the night.
May we attain the glory of this dawn, may we be in the contest of the best among men; following Triśoka, a hundred men were brought by the chariot, which, with Kutsa, was victorious in battle.
What exhilaration of yours, O Indra, is delightful, what utterance, O mighty one, is most impetuous—who will bring near, who will carry our prayer? May I attain your highest bounty with food.
What glory, O Indra, do you grant to your men, by what thought do you act, who comes to us? Like Mitra, true in his service, you are widely praised, when our thoughts are united in desire for food.
Drive forth, O mighty one, as a man seeks the farthest goal; those who desire him move as if to be born anew. And those voices, ancient and powerful, O men, Indra, they respond to you with offerings of food.
For you, Indra, the vast heavens with their strength and the earth with her wisdom have been measured as your mother. For your delight, may the clarified butter and sweet drinks be ready for drinking, may the honeyed offerings be pleasing.
To Indra, the full measure of the sweet drink has been poured, for he is truly worthy of gifts. He has grown in greatness, reaching the expanse of the earth, excelling in power and heroic deeds.
Indra has scattered the hosts of foes with his own strength; many strive for his friendship. Stand firm in the battle as in a chariot, whom you, with gracious favor, urge onward.
Let the true and generous Indra come here, eager for battle; let his steeds swiftly approach us. To him, the inspired one, we offer this bright, skillful praise, seeking his favor here.
At the end of his heroic path, let Indra, the mighty, rejoice in this today's pressing. The inspired one proclaims the hymn, as the wise craftsman, for the knowing lord, utters the sacred word.
Like a sage, he knows the hidden ways and accomplishes the rites; as a bull, he pours out the one stream, singing aloud. Thus he created seven singers in the sky, who, even by day, performed their works, praising him.
He, knowing the heavenly order, shone forth with radiant hymns; great light blazed when he loosed the dawn. He scattered the darkness and saw clearly; he, most heroic among men, brought help to the people.
Indra, the unconquered, grew vast in might; he filled both heaven and earth with greatness. Therefore, his majesty is to be praised, for he became all the worlds.
Knowing all heroic deeds, Shakra released the waters with his companions, by his will. Even the stone they split with their words; the seekers broke open the cattle-pen rich in cows.
He drove away Vritra, who held back the waters; the earth, conscious, received the thunderbolt. You, O bold hero, became lord of the flowing streams and oceanic spaces by your power.
When, O much-invoked one, you shattered the rock, the ancient Sarama appeared. Be our leader to abundant wealth; breaking the barriers, you, praised by the Angirases, saw many riches.
Sing that for yourselves at the pressing, together with the much-invoked one, for strength, as one would for a cow, for prosperity.
Indeed, the generous one does not withhold the gift of wealth rich in cattle, when the hymns reach him.
Perhaps he will go forth to the cattle-rich enclosure of the foe-slayer; may he, with his powers, ward off our enemies.
Indra, bring us wisdom as a father gives to his sons. Teach us, much-invoked one, on this path, that we may attain living light.
Let not unknown or hostile men, nor evil dwellers, overtake us. With you, O hero, we shall always cross the deep waters safely.
Indra, bring us the greatest and most powerful fame, O strong one with the thunderbolt in hand, by which you, O beautiful-jawed, have filled both these shining worlds.
We call upon you, O mighty one, support of people, king, among the gods; O treasure, may all hostile powers drink destruction for us; make our enemies easily subdued.
Even if, O Indra, you had a hundred heavens, a hundred earths, or even more, not a thousand thunders, nor the suns, nor all that is born between the two worlds, could match you.
You have stretched forth, O powerful bull, with your great might, pervading all with your strength; come to our aid, O bountiful one, in the cattle-rich enclosure, O wielder of the thunderbolt, with your splendid aids.
O Indra, as much as you are, so much may I be master; may I cherish the praiser, O giver of wealth; may I not bestow upon the wicked.
