अग्निं होतारं मन्ये दास्वन्तं वसुं सूनुं सहसो जातवेदसं विप्रं न जातवेदसम् । य ऊर्ध्वया स्वध्वरो देवो देवाच्या कृपा । घृतस्य विभ्राष्टिमनु वष्टि शोचिषाजुह्वानस्य सर्पिषः
I consider Agni the priest, the generous, the wealthy, the son of strength, the knower of all births, wise as the knower of all births. He, the god, upright in his own rites, with divine compassion, follows the spreading of clarified butter, with his flame, with the ladle of ghee.
यज्ञैः संमिश्लाः पृषतीभिर्ऋष्टिभिर्यामं छुभ्रासो अञ्जिषु प्रिया उत । आसद्या बर्हिर्भरतस्य सूनवः पोत्रादा सोमं पिबता दिवो नरः
Blended with sacrifices, adorned with speckled steeds, shining in their ornaments, beloved indeed—having approached the sacred grass, O sons of Bharata, drink the Soma from the cup, O men of heaven.
आ वक्षि देवामिह विप्र यक्षि चोशन् होतर्नि षदा योनिषु त्रिषु । प्रति वीहि प्रस्थितं सोम्यं मधु पिबाग्नीध्रात्तव भागस्य तृस्णुहि
Come here, O gods, O wise ones, worship, and O Hotar, sit in the three seats. Approach the poured-out Soma, drink the honeyed Soma from the Agnidh's share, satisfy your thirst for your portion.
एष स्य ते तन्वो नृम्णवर्धनः सह ओजः प्रदिवि बाह्वोर्हितः । तुभ्यं सुतो मघवन् तुभ्यमाभृतस्त्वमस्य ब्राह्मणादा तृपत्पिब
This, indeed, is the strength of your body, increasing manliness, power, and vigor, placed in your arms in the sky. For you, O Maghavan, the Soma is pressed, for you it is brought; you are to drink, delighting in the Brahman's gift.
यमु पूर्वमहुवे तमिदं हुवे सेदु हव्यो ददिर्यो नाम पत्यते । अध्वर्युभिः प्रस्थितं सोम्यं मधु पोत्रात्सोमं द्रविणोदः पिब ऋतुभिः
Whom I called before, him I now call; let him be invoked, the giver whose name is renowned. Drink the honeyed Soma, poured out by the priests, from the cup, O Soma-giver, with the seasons.
सुरूपकृत्नुमूतये सुदुघामिव गोदुहे । जुहूमसि द्यविद्यवि
We offer to the beautiful-formed, for favor, as one milks a cow rich in milk; we pour out offerings, day by day.
उप नः सवना गहि सोमस्य सोमपाः पिब । गोदा इद्रेवतो मदः
Come to our Soma-pressings, drink the Soma, O Soma-drinker; the delight of the cows is here, O lord of wealth.
अथा ते अन्तमानां विद्याम सुमतीनाम् । मा नो अति ख्य आ गहि
Now may we know the end of your gracious favors; do not go far from us, come near.
परेहि विग्रमस्तृतमिन्द्रं पृछा विपश्चितम् । यस्ते सखिभ्य आ वरम्
Go beyond the contest, ask the wise Indra, who grants favor to his friends.
उत ब्रुवन्तु नो निदो निरन्यतश्चिदारत । दधाना इन्द्र इद्दुवः
Let our praises be spoken, let them spread from every side; Indra, grant us your gifts.
उत नः सुभगामरिर्वोचेयुर्दस्म कृष्टयः । स्यामेदिन्द्रस्य शर्मणि
Let the blessed ones speak well of us, let the wondrous peoples praise us; may we be in Indra's protection.
एमाशुमाशवे भर यज्ञश्रियं नृमादनम् । पतयन् मन्दयत्सखम्
Bring to the swift, to the mighty, the glory of sacrifice, delight for men, as a friend who brings joy.
अस्य पीत्वा शतक्रतो घनो वृत्राणामभवः । प्रावो वाजेषु वाजिनम्
Having drunk this, O hundred-powered, you became the slayer of foes; you led the strong in contests.
तं त्वा वाजेषु वाजिनं वाजयामः शतक्रतो । धनानामिन्द्र सातये
You, the strong in contests, we urge in contests, O hundred-powered; for the gaining of wealth, O Indra.
यो रायोऽवनिर्महान्त्सुपारः सुन्वतः सखा । तस्मा इन्द्राय गायत
He who is the protector of great riches, the mighty helper, the friend of the Soma-presser—sing to that Indra.
आ त्वेता नि षीदतेन्द्रमभि प्र गायत । सखाय स्तोमवाहसः
Come, sit here, praise Indra; friends, bring forth your hymns.
पुरूतमं पुरूणामीशानं वार्याणाम् । इन्द्रं सोमे सचा सुते
Indra, the most bountiful of the bountiful, the lord of treasures, may he be with Soma at the pressing.
स घा नो योग आ भुवत्स राये स पुरंध्याम् । गमद्वाजेभिरा स नः
May he truly come to us with aid, for wealth and for abundant gifts; may he approach us with his banners.
यस्य संस्थे न वृण्वते हरी समत्सु शत्रवः । तस्मा इन्द्राय गायत
At whose establishment, the two bays are not withheld, and in battles, enemies do not prevail—sing to that Indra.
सुतपाव्ने सुता इमे शुचयो यन्ति वीतये । सोमासो दध्याशिरः
For the drinker of the pressed, these pure Somas go for delight, with curd on their heads.
त्वं सुतस्य पीतये सद्यो वृद्धो अजायथाः । इन्द्र ज्यैष्ठ्याय सुक्रतो
You, for the drinking of the pressed Soma, were instantly born grown, Indra, wise one, for supremacy.
आ त्वा विशन्त्वाशवः सोमास इन्द्र गिर्वणः । शं ते सन्तु प्रचेतसे
May the invigorating Somas, O Indra, lover of song, enter you; may they bring you joy, O wise one.
त्वां स्तोमा अवीवृधन् त्वामुक्था शतक्रतो । त्वां वर्धन्तु नो गिरः
Hymns have magnified you, praises have exalted you, O hundred-powered one; may our songs increase you.
अक्षितोतिः सनेदिमं वाजमिन्द्रः सहस्रिणम् । यस्मिन् विश्वानि पौंस्या
May Indra, of inexhaustible bounty, grant this prize of a thousand, in which all manly powers abide.
मा नो मर्ता अभि द्रुहन् तनूनामिन्द्र गिर्वणः । ईशानो यवया वधम्
Let not mortals assail us, O Indra, lover of song; as lord, ward off slaughter from our bodies.
युञ्जन्ति ब्रध्नमरुषं चरन्तं परि तस्थुषः । रोचन्ते रोचना दिवि
They yoke the spotted, ruddy one, moving around those who stand; the lights shine in the sky.
युञ्जन्त्यस्य काम्या हरी विपक्षसा रथे । शोणा धृष्णू नृवाहसा
They yoke his beloved two bays, with unequal sides, to the chariot; the red, bold, man-carrying ones.
केतुं कृण्वन्न् अकेतवे पेशो मर्या अपेशसे । समुषद्भिरजायथाः
Making a sign for the unseeing, a form for the unformed, you were born together with the shining ones.
आदह स्वधामनु पुनर्गर्भत्वमेरिरे । दधाना नाम यज्ञियम्
They kindled again, following their own nature, desiring to return to the womb, upholding the sacrificial name.
वीलु चिदारुजत्नुभिर्गुहा चिदिन्द्र वह्निभिः । अविन्द उस्रिया अनु
Even what was hidden, you tore away with your acts, O Indra, with your fires; you found the cows, following their tracks.
