इन्द्रेण रोचना दिवो दृल्हानि दृंहितानि च । स्थिराणि न पराणुदे
By Indra, the shining realms of heaven, the firm and established, are not shaken.
अपामूर्मिर्मदन्न् इव स्तोम इन्द्राजिरायते । वि ते मदा अराजिषुः
Like the exhilaration of water, the praise rushes to Indra for victory; your exhilarations have spread forth.
इन्द्रेण सं हि दृक्षसे संजग्मानो अबिभ्युषा । मन्दू समानवर्चसा
With Indra you see together, coming together unafraid; you are united in equal splendor.
अनवद्यैरभिद्युभिर्मखः सहस्वदर्चति । गणैरिन्द्रस्य काम्यैः
With blameless and shining companions, the festival shines forth in strength, with the desirable hosts of Indra.
आदह स्वधामनु पुनर्गर्भत्वमेरिरे । दधाना नाम यज्ञियम्
They have entered again into the womb, following their own law; upholding the sacrificial name.
इन्द्रो दधीचो अस्थभिर्वृत्राण्यप्रतिष्कुतः । जघान नवतीर्नव
Indra, with the bones of Dadhīci, unconquered, struck down ninety-nine foes.
इच्छन् अश्वस्य यच्छिरः पर्वतेष्वपश्रितम् । तद्विदच्छर्यणावति
Desiring the horse's head, which was hidden among the mountains, he found it, the wondrous one, in the sanctuary.
अत्राह गोरमन्वत नाम त्वष्टुरपीच्यम् । इत्था चन्द्रमसो गृहे
Here they sought the name of the cow, the lower form of Tvaṣṭṛ; thus, in the house of the moon.
वाचमष्टापदीमहं नवस्रक्तिमृतस्पृशम् । इन्द्रात्परि तन्वं ममे
I take up speech with eight steps, new-garlanded, touching immortality, from Indra I draw forth my form.
अनु त्वा रोदसी उभे क्रक्षमाणमकृपेताम् । इन्द्र यद्दस्युहाभवः
Both the worlds, O Indra, followed you as you strode, when you became the slayer of foes.
उत्तिष्ठन्न् ओजसा सह पीत्वी शिप्रे अवेपयः । सोममिन्द्र चमू सुतम्
Rising up with strength, you shook your two jaws; you drank the pressed Soma, O Indra.
भिन्धि विश्वा अप द्विषः परि बाधो जही मृधः । वसु स्पार्हं तदा भर
Break apart all hatreds, drive away and destroy the enemies; bring us that desirable wealth.
यद्वीलाविन्द्र यत्स्थिरे यत्पर्शाने पराभृतम् । वसु स्पार्हं तदा भर
Whatever is loose, O Indra, whatever is firm, whatever is hidden in the stone, bring us that desirable wealth.
यस्य ते विश्वमानुषो भूरेर्दत्तस्य वेदति । वसु स्पार्हं तदा भर
Of what you, O Indra, have given, all humanity knows; bring us that desirable wealth.
प्र सम्राजं चर्षणीनामिन्द्रं स्तोता नव्यं गीर्भिः । नरं नृषाहं मंहिष्ठम्
Let the singer praise Indra, the king of peoples, with fresh songs; the man-slayer, the most mighty among men.
यस्मिन्न् उक्थानि रण्यन्ति विश्वानि च श्रवस्य । अपामवो न समुद्रे
In whom the hymns resound, and all fame as well, like the waters in the ocean.
तं सुष्टुत्या विवासे ज्येष्ठराजं भरे कृत्नुम् । महो वाजिनं सनिभ्यः
Him I summon with excellent praise, the eldest king, the all-accomplishing, the great giver of prizes to the companions.
अयमु ते समतसि कपोत इव गर्भधिम् । वचस्तच्चिन् न ओहसे
This, for you, is hidden like a pigeon in the womb; yet you do not disregard this speech.
स्तोत्रं राधानां पते गिर्वाहो वीर यस्य ते । विभूतिरस्तु सूनृता
O lord of gifts, bearer of songs, heroic one, may your glory be abundant, may truthfulness be yours.
ऊर्ध्वस्तिष्ठा न ऊतयेऽस्मिन् वाजे शतक्रतो । समन्येषु ब्रवावहै
Stand upright for our aid, O hundred-powered one, in this contest; let us speak among the assemblies.
प्रणेतारं वस्यो अच्छा कर्तारं ज्योतिः समत्सु । सासह्वांसं युधामित्रान्
Guide us to wealth, to light in the battles, to the one who overcomes foes in war.
स नः पप्रिः पारयाति स्वस्ति नावा पुरुहूतः । इन्द्रो विश्वा अति द्विषः
May Indra, much-invoked, who has filled us, carry us across to safety, beyond all hatreds.
स त्वं न इन्द्र वाजोभिर्दशस्या च गातुया च । अच्छा च नः सुम्नं नेषि
So may you, Indra, gladden us with strength and with the path; and may you lead us to your good favor.
तमिन्द्रं वाजयामसि महे वृत्राय हन्तवे । स वृषा वृषभो भुवत्
We urge on that Indra with strength, to strike down the great foe; may he be a mighty bull.
इन्द्रः स दामने कृत ओजिष्ठः स मदे हितः । द्युम्नी श्लोकी स सोम्यः
Indra, made for conquering, most powerful, set in exhilaration, glorious, renowned, and Soma-loving.
गिरा वज्रो न संभृतः सबलो अनपच्युतः । ववक्ष ऋष्वो अस्तृतः
His speech is a gathered thunderbolt, strong, unfailing; he is exalted, unshaken, and towering.
इन्द्रमिद्गाथिनो बृहदिन्द्रमर्केभिरर्किणः । इन्द्रं वाणीरनूषत
The singers chant to Indra, the great; the praisers praise Indra with hymns; voices call upon Indra.
इन्द्र इद्धर्योः सचा संमिश्ल आ वचोयुजा । इन्द्रो वज्री हिरण्ययः
Indra, together with the two bay steeds, mingled, yoked with speech, Indra the wielder of the golden thunderbolt.
इन्द्रो दीर्घाय चक्षस आ सूर्यं रोहयद्दिवि । वि गोभिरद्रिमैरयत्
Indra, for far-seeing vision, made the sun rise in the sky; with rays he split the mountain.
आ याहि सुषुमा हि त इन्द्र सोमं पिबा इमम् । एदं बर्हिः सदो मम
Come here, O Indra, for you are eager; drink this Soma; this is my seat of offering.
