Here, with the guardians of the cows, may they gladden you for great reward. Drink as a bull drinks from a lake.
Sing forth to the lord of the cows, to Indra, as is fitting, as one who knows. To the son of truth, the true lord.
The bays have been released, the ruddy ones, upon the sacred grass, where we assemble together.
For Indra, the cows have milked forth pure sweetness for the wielder of the bolt, when he discovered it in the hidden place.
Come to us, Indra, eager for the Soma, called to drink the Soma. Come with your two bays, O stone-splitter.
The priest has sat down, as the ritualist, spreading the sacred grass in order. The morning pressings have been yoked.
These hymns, bearers of prayer, are being composed; sit upon the sacred grass. Enjoy, O hero, the foremost offering.
Rejoice with us in the libations, O slayer of Vritra, in these praises, O Indra, lover of song, in the hymns.
The mothers of the Soma-drinker cherish the lord of strength, Indra, as mothers cherish a calf.
Delight yourself, indeed, in the pressed Soma, for greatness and for your own body; do not cast aside the worshipper.
We, Indra, devoted to you, offer oblations and grow old in your service; and you, O generous one, are friendly to us.
Do not let your beloved steeds depart from us; come near, Indra, with your own power, rejoice here with us.
Let the curly-haired ones carry you, Indra, in a pleasant chariot; let the butter-smeared grass be your seat.
Come to us, Indra, to drink the pressed Soma, rich in cows, with your steeds, you who are friendly to us.
Come, Indra, to this exhilarating Soma, pressed with stones and placed on the sacred grass; perhaps you will be satisfied by it.
Thus, my words, inspired and uttered here, call Indra to drink Soma.
We invoke Indra here to drink Soma with hymns and praises; perhaps he will come with our recitations.
Indra, these Somas have been pressed; receive them, O hundred-powered, into your belly, you who delight in strength.
We know you as the winner of wealth, steadfast in contests, O wise one; therefore we seek your favor.
Drink, Indra, this Soma, rich in cows and barley, for us; come with your bull-like strength to the pressed offering.
To you, Indra, in your own dwelling, I urge Soma for drinking; let this delight stir your heart.
For the drinking of the pressed Soma, we invoke you, Indra, as of old; the Kuśikas, seeking help.
The foremost mortal, possessing horses, proceeds among the cows, O Indra, with your help; you fill him with abundant wealth, as the rivers, wise, approach the sea.
The divine waters approach the sacrificial priest, seeing the spread out expanse as the sky; the gods lead the devotee forward, delighting in the sacred word, as the best ones do.
Upon the two, the hymn is placed, the speech, by those who serve, the pair who honor; unbound in your vow, you dwell and prosper, auspicious power for the sacrificer who presses.
The Angiras, first, established the way; the kindled fires, those who act rightly, with skill; they found all the wealth of the Paṇi, the food, the horses, the cows, and the cattle, O men.
By sacrifices, Atharvan first established the paths; from him, the Sun, the observer of vows, Vena, was born. May Kāvyā Uśanā come together with the cows; we worship the immortal offspring of Yama.
Where the sacred grass is spread for prosperity, or the hymn resounds in the sky, where the pressing stone speaks and the inspired poet chants—there, indeed, Indra delights in the offerings.
I pour out the strong, true draught for you, O Indra of the tawny steeds, for you to drink. Rejoice here, Indra, with the cows, with all the hymns, praised by every act of power.
In every union and contest for strength and prize, we call upon Indra, our friend, for help.
