The great deeds of mighty Indra are many and renowned; with his power he crushed the wicked, overcoming the Dasyus with his strength and magic.
युधेन्द्रो मह्ना वरिवश्चकार देवेभ्यः सत्पतिश्चर्षणिप्राः । विवस्वतः सदने अस्य तानि विप्रा उक्थेभिः कवयो गृणन्ति
Indra, in his greatness, made a wide path for the gods, the true lord, protector of men; in the house of Vivasvat, the wise sing of these deeds with their hymns.
सत्रासाहं वरेण्यं सहोदां ससवांसं स्वरपश्च देवीः । ससान यः पृथिवीं द्यामुतेमामिन्द्रं मदन्त्यनु धीरणासः
The all-conquering, worthy, strong Indra, giver of strength, and the shining goddesses—he established the earth and these heavens; the wise rejoice in Indra.

He established the waters, the sun, and the earth; Indra secured the abundant cow, the golden wealth, after slaying the Dasyus, bringing forth the Aryan color.

Let us call upon Indra, the generous giver, the foremost among men in this contest for prize and strength; fierce and attentive to our invocation in battles, he who strikes down obstacles and is victorious in wealth.
उदु ब्रह्माण्यैरत श्रवस्येन्द्रं समर्ये महया वसिष्ठ । आ यो विश्वानि शवसा ततानोपश्रोता म ईवतो वचांसि
The hymns have risen up for glory; Vasiṣṭha, praise Indra in the assembly, he who with his might has pervaded all things, who listens to our words, eager for our speech.
अयामि घोष इन्द्र देवजामिरिरज्यन्त यच्छुरुधो विवाचि । नहि स्वमायुश्चिकिते जनेषु तानीदंहांस्यति पर्ष्यस्मान्
I come with this sound, O Indra, born of the gods, as the wise ones sing aloud; among people, none knows his own lifespan—may you lead us past these dangers.
युजे रथं गवेषणं हरिभ्यामुप ब्रह्माणि जुजुषाणमस्थुः । वि बाधिष्ट स्य रोदसी महित्वेन्द्रो वृत्राण्यप्रती जघन्वान्
He has yoked his searching chariot with the two bays, approaching the hymns, delighting in them; Indra, mighty, has split apart earth and heaven, conquering the obstacles, undefeated.
आपश्चित्पिप्यु स्तर्यो न गावो नक्षन्न् ऋतं जरितारस्त इन्द्र । याहि वायुर्न नियुतो नो अच्छा त्वं हि धीभिर्दयसे वि वाजान्
Even the waters have swelled, like cows, not failing in truth, as singers praise you, Indra; come to us as the wind with your teams, for by your insight you grant us abundant prizes.
ते त्वा मदा इन्द्र मादयन्तु शुष्मिणं तुविराधसं जरित्रे । एको देवत्रा दयसे हि मर्तान् अस्मिन् छूर सवने मादयस्व
May those exhilarations, O Indra, delight you—mighty, of great bounty for the singer; you alone among the gods show favor to mortals—rejoice, hero, in this pressing.
एवेदिन्द्रं वृषणं वज्रबाहुं वसिष्ठासो अभ्यर्चन्त्यर्कैः । स न स्तुतो वीरवद्धातु गोमद्यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः
Thus do the Vasiṣṭhas honor Indra, the mighty, with the thunderbolt-strong arm, with their hymns; may he, praised by us, grant us heroic strength and cattle, and always protect us with blessings.
ऋजीषी वज्री वृषभस्तुराषाट्छुष्मी राजा वृत्रहा सोमपावा । युक्त्वा हरिभ्यामुप यासदर्वाङ्माध्यंदिने सवने मत्सदिन्द्रः
Swift, armed with the thunderbolt, the bull, the mighty, the king, slayer of obstacles, drinker of soma—having yoked the two bays, let Indra come here to the midday pressing to rejoice.

वयमु त्वामपूर्व्य स्थूरं न कच्चिद्भरन्तोऽवस्यवः । वाजे चित्रं हवामहे
We, bearing you as our support, call upon you, O unprecedented one, like those who carry a heavy load; in the contest for prize, we invoke you, the wondrous one.
उप त्वा कर्मन्न् ऊतये स नो युवोग्रश्चक्राम यो धृषत्। त्वामिद्ध्यवितारं ववृमहे सखाय इन्द्र सानसिम्
We approach you for help in our work; may that strong one, who is fierce, come to us; we have chosen you, Indra, as our helper and friend, the unassailable one.
यो न इदमिदं पुरा प्र वस्य आनिनाय तमु व स्तुषे । सखाय इन्द्रमूतये
He who formerly brought us this and that prosperity, him I now praise; Indra, our friend, for help.
हर्यश्वं सत्पतिं चर्षणीसहं स हि ष्मा यो अमन्दत । आ तु नः स वयति गव्यमश्व्यं स्तोतृभ्यो मघवा शतम्
May he, the lord of fine horses, the true master, strong among peoples, who is ever vigorous, bring to us cattle and horses; may Maghavan grant a hundred gifts to the singers.
प्र मंहिष्ठाय बृहते बृहद्रये सत्यशुष्माय तवसे मतिं भरे । अपामिव प्रवणे यस्य दुर्धरं राधो विश्वायु शवसे अपावृतम्
I offer my thought to the most mighty, the great, the possessor of vast wealth, whose power is true and whose strength is renowned; whose difficult-to-hold riches, like water in a slope, are open for the energetic.
अध ते विश्वमनु हासदिष्टय आपो निम्नेव सवना हविष्मतः । यत्पर्वते न समशीत हर्यत इन्द्रस्य वज्रः श्नथिता हिरण्ययः
Then, for you, all the desired things follow, as waters flow downward for the sacrificial offerings; when, on the mountain, Indra's golden thunderbolt, unrestrained, was released and shattered what could not be subdued.
अस्मै भीमाय नमसा समध्वर उषो न शुभ्र आ भरा पनीयसे । यस्य धाम श्रवसे नामेन्द्रियं ज्योतिरकारि हरितो नायसे
To him, the awe-inspiring, we offer reverence with worship, as the radiant dawn brings forth light for the journey; whose domain, famed for its name and power, created a shining brilliance for the green ones to lead.
