The offering of ghee, united with the gods, is increased for a year by the oblation. May our hearing, sight, and breath remain unbroken; may we ourselves not be cut off from life or brilliance.
Let breath come to us, let breath call upon us. We invoke breath. Brilliance has taken hold of earth and atmosphere; Soma and Brihaspati bestow brilliance.
Heaven and earth have become the gatherers of brilliance; having taken brilliance, may we move along the earth. The cows, seeking fame, approach the lord of cattle; having taken fame, may we move along the earth.
Build a cattle-pen, for your leaders are men; sew armor, broad and thick. Build strong iron fortresses ahead; let not your well-formed drinking vessels be broken.
With speech as the mouth, with hearing as the ears, with mind, I offer the eye and the source of sacrifice. May the gods, well-disposed, come to this sacrifice spread out by the All-Creator.
Those who are priests of the gods, those who are fit for sacrifice, to whom the offering and share are given—may all those gods, together with their wives, come to this sacrifice and rejoice in strength.
You, Agni, are the guardian of vows among gods and mortals. You are worthy of praise in sacrifices.
If we have transgressed your vows, O gods, knowingly or unknowingly, may Agni, who knows all, make us whole again, and Soma, who has entered the Brahman.
We have gone on the path of the gods; whatever we are able, we strive to follow. Agni, the knower, is the one who sacrifices, the kindler, the priest; he arranges the seasons for the ritual.
Let speech be in my mouth, breath in my nostrils, sight in my eyes, hearing in my ears. Let my hair be ungreyed, my teeth unbroken, and great strength in my arms.
Let vigor be in my thighs, swiftness in my shanks, and firmness in my feet. May all my limbs be unharmed and whole.
May my body be united with my body; may I obtain full length of life. Sit happily for me, O purifier, fill me abundantly in the heavenly world.
Make me dear among the gods; make me dear among kings. Make me dear to all who see, both Shudra and Arya.
Arise, O Brahmanaspati; awaken the gods with sacrifice. Increase the life, breath, offspring, cattle, fame, and the worshiper.
Agni, I have brought the kindling for the great Jatavedas. May Jatavedas grant me faith and intelligence.
With kindling and fuel, O Jatavedas, we increase you. So may you increase us, with offspring and with wealth.
O Agni, whatever kinds of wood we place upon you, may all of that be auspicious for me; accept it, O youngest one.
These offerings are for you, Agni; kindled, become kindling. Grant us long life and immortality to the teacher.
The tawny, splendid one ascended the sky with his flame; those who would strike at you as you soar to heaven, cast them down with your might, O Jātavedas. The fierce one, blazing, ascended the sky, O Sun.
Those demons, cunning magicians, who move about marked with iron snares—O Jātavedas, with your force I bind them. O thousand-rayed, O Vajra, destroy the rivals and protect us.

With the unbound and the bound, I will open the hole by means of magic; having drawn out the knowledge with both, then we perform the rites.
Live, be alive; may I live the full span of life.
