With me, the lord of cattle, be united; this cattle-pen here will nourish you. With the abundance of wealth, may you become many; living, may we dwell with you, living.
I urge Indra, the merchant; let him come, let him be our leader. Driving away enmity and the thief, may he, the lord, the giver of wealth, be mine.
The many paths of the gods that move between heaven and earth—may they favor me with milk and ghee, so that, having made a purchase, I may bring home wealth.
With fuel, O Agni, desiring, with ghee I offer the oblation for speed and strength. As long as I am able, honoring the Brahman, I send forth this prayer to the goddess for a hundredfold gain.
O Agni, consider this refuge for us, so that we may reach the distant path. May our bargaining and selling be successful, may the exchange yield fruit. May you two, knowing this offering, accept it; may our undertakings, both begun and completed, be successful.
With the wealth by which I conduct my trade, with that wealth, O gods, desiring wealth, may it become greater for me, not less. O Agni, destroyer of foes, seat the gods with the offering.
With the wealth by which I conduct my trade, with that wealth, O gods, desiring wealth, may Indra, radiant, place favor in it for me—Prajapati, Savitar, Soma, and Agni.
To you we come with reverence, O Hotar, O Vaiśvānara, we praise you. Watch over us among offspring, in ourselves, in cattle, in life.
O Jātavedas, may all this always remain firm for you, as a horse stands steady. Rejoicing together with abundance of wealth, may we not suffer harm from our neighbors, O Agni.
In the morning we call Agni, in the morning we call Indra, in the morning Mitra and Varuṇa, in the morning the Aśvins; in the morning we call Bhaga, Pūṣan, Brahmaṇaspati, in the morning Soma and also Rudra.
In the morning we call Bhaga, the mighty, the victorious, the son of Aditi, who is the distributor. Even the one who thinks himself oppressed, or the swift, or the king, says, 'Bhaga is the one who gives the share.'
O Bhaga, guide us forth, O Bhaga, true bestower, O Bhaga, grant us this thought. O Bhaga, produce for us cows and horses; O Bhaga, may we be men among men.
May we now be fortunate, may we be so at the beginning and in the middle of the day; and at the rising of the generous Sun, may we be in the favor of the gods.
May Bhaga alone, the divine Bhaga, be our portion; by him may we become fortunate. To you, O Bhaga, I call with all my heart; may you, O Bhaga, be our leader.
The dawns, rich in sacrifice, bow down, like Dadhikrāvan for his pure path. May they bring to me Bhaga, the giver of wealth, coming near, like swift horses drawing a chariot.
May the dawns, rich in horses, rich in cows, rich in sons, always rise for us, auspicious. Milking ghee from every side, may you always protect us with well-being.
The wise yoke the ploughs, they lay out the yokes, each separately; the thoughtful ones seek favor among the gods.
Yoke the ploughs, lay out the yokes, sow the seed in the prepared furrow here. May the furrow, the share, the plough, and the team be for us; may the nearest clods yield the ripe grain for us.
The plough with its well-made share, strong, with a good yoke, let it open the earth. Let it turn up the cow, the wealth, let the team move forward, let the ploughshare and the goad be ready.
May Indra take possession of Sītā, may Pūṣan protect her well. May she, rich in milk, yield for us, season after season, abundant produce.
May the ploughers strike the earth with a good furrow, may the laborers follow the teams well. May the plough and the yoke, pleased with the offering, and the fruitful plants, make this for us.
May the teams prosper, may the men prosper, may the plough prosper. May the straps be well tied, may the goad be raised up.
O plough and yoke, may you be pleased with me here. Whatever milk you have made in the sky, pour it down upon this field.
O Sītā, we honor you; be gracious and favorable. As you are kind to us, so may you be fruitful for us.
Sītā, anointed with ghee and honey, approved by all the gods and the Maruts, may you, O Sītā, pour forth milk for us, abounding in strength, rich in ghee, ever increasing.
I dig up this herb, the strongest of all plants, by which one drives away a rival wife, by which one finds a husband.
O Uttānaparṇī, fortunate one, honored by the gods, full of power, drive away my co-wife; make my husband belong to me alone.
Your name has not been taken, nor do you delight in this husband; let us send my co-wife far away, to a distant place.
I am the superior, the most exalted among the exalted; my co-wife is below, the lowest among the low.
I am the victorious one, and you are also victorious; together, being powerful, let us overcome my co-wife.
