घर्म इवाभितपन् दर्भ द्विषतो नितपन् मणे । हृदः सपत्नानां भिन्द्धीन्द्र इव विरुजं बलम्
O darbha grass, scorch the enemies like heated gharma, burn them, O jewel; break the hearts of rivals, as Indra shattered the strength of the hostile.
भिन्द्धि दर्भ सपत्नानां हृदयं द्विषतां मणे । उद्यन् त्वचमिव भूम्याः शिर एषां वि पातय
Break, O darbha, the hearts of my rivals, O jewel; as the skin rises from the earth, cast down their heads.
भिन्द्धि दर्भ सपत्नान् मे भिन्द्धि मे पृतनायतः । भिन्द्धि मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो भिन्द्धि मे द्विषतो मणे
Break, O darbha, my rivals; break those who oppose me in battle; break all who are hard to defeat; break my enemies, O jewel.
छिन्द्धि दर्भ सपत्नान् मे छिन्द्धि मे पृतनायतः । छिन्द्धि मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो छिन्द्धि मे द्विषतो मणे
Cut, O darbha, my rivals; cut those who oppose me in battle; cut all who are hard to defeat; cut my enemies, O jewel.
वृश्च दर्भ सपत्नान् मे वृश्च मे पृतनायतः । वृश्च मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो वृश्च मे द्विषतो मणे
Sever, O darbha, my rivals; sever those who oppose me in battle; sever all who are hard to defeat; sever my enemies, O jewel.
कृन्त दर्भ सपत्नान् मे कृन्त मे पृतनायतः । कृन्त मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो कृन्त मे द्विषतो मणे
Slice, O darbha, my rivals; slice those who oppose me in battle; slice all who are hard to defeat; slice my enemies, O jewel.
पिंश दर्भ सपत्नान् मे पिंश मे पृतनायतः । पिंश मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो पिंश मे द्विषतो मणे
Crush, O darbha, my rivals; crush those who oppose me in battle; crush all who are hard to defeat; crush my enemies, O jewel.
विध्य दर्भ सपत्नान् मे विध्य मे पृतनायतः । विध्य मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो विध्य मे द्विषतो मणे
Pierce, O darbha, my rivals; pierce those who oppose me in battle; pierce all who are hard to defeat; pierce my enemies, O jewel.
निक्ष दर्भ सपत्नान् मे निक्ष मे पृतनायतः । निक्ष मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो निक्ष मे द्विषतो मणे
Strike down, O darbha, my rivals; strike down those who oppose me in battle; strike down all who are hard to defeat; strike down my enemies, O jewel.
तृन्द्धि दर्भ सपत्नान् मे तृन्द्धि मे पृतनायतः । तृन्द्धि मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो तृन्द्धि मे द्विषतो मणे
Grind down, O darbha, my rivals; grind down those who oppose me in battle; grind down all who are hard to defeat; grind down my enemies, O jewel.
रुन्द्धि दर्भ सपत्नान् मे रुन्द्धि मे पृतनायतः । रुन्द्धि मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो रुन्द्धि मे द्विषतो मणे
Obstruct, O darbha, my rivals; obstruct those who oppose me in battle; obstruct all who are hard to defeat; obstruct my enemies, O jewel.
मृण दर्भ सपत्नान् मे मृण मे पृतनायतः । मृण मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो मृण मे द्विषतो मणे
Destroy, O darbha, my rivals; destroy those who oppose me in battle; destroy all who are hard to defeat; destroy my enemies, O jewel.
मन्थ दर्भ सपत्नान् मे मन्थ मे पृतनायतः । मन्थ मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो मन्थ मे द्विषतो मणे
Churn, O darbha, my rivals; churn those who oppose me in battle; churn all who are hard to defeat; churn my enemies, O jewel.
पिण्ड्ढि दर्भ सपत्नान् मे पिण्ड्ढि मे पृतनायतः । पिण्ड्ढि मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो पिण्ड्ढि मे द्विषतो मणे
Compress, O darbha, my rivals; compress those who oppose me in battle; compress all who are hard to defeat; compress my enemies, O jewel.
ओष दर्भ सपत्नान् मे ओष मे पृतनायतः । ओष मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो ओष मे द्विषतो मणे
Dry up, O darbha, my rivals; dry up those who oppose me in battle; dry up all who are hard to defeat; dry up my enemies, O jewel.
दह दर्भ सपत्नान् मे दह मे पृतनायतः । दह मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो दह मे द्विषतो मणे
Burn, O darbha, my rivals; burn those who oppose me in battle; burn all who are hard to defeat; burn my enemies, O jewel.
जहि दर्भ सपत्नान् मे जहि मे पृतनायतः । जहि मे सर्वान् दुर्हार्दो जहि मे द्विषतो मणे
Strike, O darbha, my rivals; strike those who oppose me in battle; strike all who are hard to defeat; strike my enemies, O jewel.
यत्ते दर्भ जरामृत्यु शतं वर्मसु वर्म ते । तेनेमं वर्मिणं कृत्वा सपत्नां जहि वीर्यैः
O darbha, whose hundredfold old-age and death are in armor, whose armor is yours; with that, making this one armored, strike down the rivals by your might.
शतं ते दर्भ वर्माणि सहस्रं वीर्याणि ते । तमस्मै विश्वे त्वां देवा जरसे भर्तवा अदुः
A hundred are your blades of protection, a thousand are your powers; all the gods have entrusted you to old age as a support.
त्वामाहुर्देववर्म त्वां दर्भ ब्रह्मणस्पतिम् । त्वामिन्द्रस्याहुर्वर्म त्वं राष्ट्राणि रक्षसि
They call you the armor of the gods, you, darbha grass, are called the Lord of Prayer; they say you are Indra’s armor, you protect the realms.
सपत्नक्षयणं दर्भ द्विषतस्तपनं हृदः । मणिं क्षत्रस्य वर्धनं तनूपानं कृणोमि ते
Darbha, you are the destroyer of rivals, the burner of the enemy’s heart, the jewel that increases sovereignty; I make you the drink of the body.
यत्समुद्रो अभ्यक्रन्दत्पर्जन्यो विद्युता सह । ततो हिरण्ययो बिन्दुस्ततो दर्भो अजायत
When the ocean roared together with the storm and lightning, from that arose a golden drop, from that was born the darbha grass.
औदुम्बरेण मणिना पुष्टिकामाय वेधसा । पशूनां सर्वेषां स्फातिं गोष्ठे मे सविता करत्
With the audumbara jewel, for the sake of abundance, may the Creator grant me the increase of all cattle in my cattle-pen.
यो नो अग्निर्गार्हपत्यः पशूनामधिपा असत्। औदुम्बरो वृषा मणिः सं मा सृजतु पुष्ट्या
May the household fire, lord of cattle, be ours; may the audumbara, the bull among jewels, release abundance to us.
करीषिणीं फलवतीं स्वधामिरां च नो गृहे । औदुम्बरस्य तेजसा धाता पुष्टिं दधातु मे
May the one who bears, who is fruitful, who brings nourishment, dwell in my house; by the brilliance of the audumbara, may the Creator grant me abundance.
यद्द्विपाच्च चतुष्पाच्च यान्यन्नानि ये रसाः । गृह्णेऽहं त्वेषां भूमानं बिभ्रदौदुम्बरं मणिम्
Whatever foods and juices there are from two-footed and four-footed beings, I take their fullness, bearing the audumbara jewel.
पुष्टिं पशूनां परि जग्रभाहं चतुष्पदां द्विपदां यच्च धान्यम् । पयः पशूनां रसमोषधीनां बृहस्पतिः सविता मे नि यच्छात्
I have gathered the abundance of cattle, both four-footed and two-footed, and whatever grain there is; may Brihaspati and Savitar grant me the milk of cattle and the essence of plants.
अहं पशूनामधिपा असानि मयि पुष्टं पुष्टपतिर्दधातु । मह्यमौदुम्बरो मणिर्द्रविणानि नि यच्छतु
May I be the lord of cattle; may the lord of abundance establish abundance in me; may the audumbara jewel grant me wealth.
उप मौदुम्बरो मणिः प्रजया च धनेन च । इन्द्रेण जिन्वितो मणिरा मागन्त्सह वर्चसा
May the audumbara jewel come to me with offspring and wealth; may the jewel, inspired by Indra, come to me with strength and splendor.
देवो मणिः सपत्नहा धनसा धनसातये । पशोरन्नस्य भूमानं गवां स्फातिं नि यच्छतु
May the divine jewel, destroyer of rivals, bring us wealth for the gaining of riches; may it grant us the fullness of food and the increase of cows.
