नक्षत्रमुल्काभिहतं शमस्तु नः शं नोऽभिचाराः शमु सन्तु कृत्याः । शं नो निखाता वल्गाः शमुल्का देशोपसर्गाः शमु नो भवन्तु
May the star struck by a meteor bring us peace; may all spells and sorceries bring us peace; may the buried pegs and the meteors that afflict regions bring us peace.
शं नो ग्रहाश्चान्द्रमसाः शमादित्यश्च राहुणा । शं नो मृत्युर्धूमकेतुः शं रुद्रास्तिग्मतेजसः
May the lunar planets bring us peace, and the sun together with Rāhu; may Death, the smoky-bannered, bring us peace; may the Rudras of fierce brilliance bring us peace.
शं रुद्राः शं वसवः शमादित्याः शमग्नयः । शं नो महर्षयो देवाः शं देवाः शं बृहस्पतिः
May the Rudras, the Vasus, the Ādityas, and the Fires bring us peace; may the great seers and the gods bring us peace; may Bṛhaspati bring us peace.
ब्रह्म प्रजापतिर्धाता लोका वेदाः सप्तऋषयोऽग्नयः । तैर्मे कृतं स्वस्त्ययनमिन्द्रो मे शर्म यच्छतु ब्रह्मा मे शर्म यच्छतु । विश्वे मे देवाः शर्म यच्छन्तु सर्वे मे देवाः शर्म यच्छन्तु
May Brahman, Prajāpati, Dhātṛ, the worlds, the Vedas, the seven seers, and the fires—by them, may my rite for well-being be accomplished; may Indra grant me protection, may Brahman grant me protection; may all the gods grant me protection, may every god grant me protection.
यानि कानि चिच्छान्तानि लोके सप्तऋषयो विदुः । सर्वाणि शं भवन्तु मे शं मे अस्त्वभयं मे अस्तु
Whatever forms of peace there are in the world, which the seven seers know, may all of them be peace for me; may I have peace, may I have freedom from fear.
पृथिवी शान्तिरन्तरिक्षं शान्तिर्द्यौः शान्तिरापः शान्तिरोषधयः शान्तिर्वनस्पतयः शान्तिर्विश्वे मे देवाः शान्तिः सर्वे मे देवाः शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिभिः । यदिह घोरं यदिह क्रूरं यदिह पापं तच्छान्तं तच्छिवं सर्वमेव शमस्तु नः
Peace to the earth, peace to the sky, peace to the heavens, peace to the waters, peace to the plants, peace to the trees; may all the gods bring me peace, may every god bring me peace, peace, peace, with all forms of peace. Whatever here is terrible, cruel, or evil—may it be pacified, may it be auspicious, may all be peace for us.
शं न इन्द्राग्नी भवतामवोभिः शं न इन्द्रावरुणा रातहव्या । शमिन्द्रासोमा सुविताय शं योः शं न इन्द्रापूषणा वाजसातौ
May Indra and Agni be gracious to us with their help; may Indra and Varuṇa, who accept our offerings, bring us peace; may Indra and Soma grant us prosperity; may Indra and Pūṣan bring us strength.
शं नो भगः शमु नः शंसो अस्तु शं नः पुरंधिः शमु सन्तु रायः । शं नः सत्यस्य सुयमस्य शंसः शं नो अर्यमा पुरुजातो अस्तु
May Bhaga bring us peace, may our praise bring us peace, may Puraṃdhi bring us peace, may riches bring us peace; may the praise of truth and good discipline bring us peace; may Aryaman, of many births, bring us peace.
शं नो धाता शमु धर्ता नो अस्तु शं न उरूची भवतु स्वधाभिः । शं रोदसी बृहती शं नो अद्रिः शं नो देवानां सुहवानि सन्तु
May Dhātṛ bring us peace, may the Sustainer bring us peace; may the wide one, Svadhā, be gracious to us; may the great heavens and earth bring us peace; may the mountains and the gods' favor be with us.
शं नो अग्निर्ज्योतिरनीको अस्तु शं नो मित्रावरुणावश्विना शम् । शं नः सुकृतां सुकृतानि सन्तु शं न इषिरो अभि वातु वातः
May Agni, radiant and present, bring us peace; may Mitra, Varuṇa, and the Aśvins bring us peace; may the good deeds of the good be for us; may the wind blow peace toward us.
शं नो द्यावापृथिवी पूर्वहूतौ शमन्तरिक्षं दृशये नो अस्तु । शं न ओषधीर्वनिनो भवन्तु शं नो रजसस्पतिरस्तु जिष्णुः
May Heaven and Earth, invoked of old, bring us peace; may the sky be auspicious for our sight; may the plants and the forests be gracious to us; may the lord of the region, victorious, bring us peace.

शं नः सूर्य उरुचक्षा उदेतु शं नो भवन्तु प्रदिशश्चतस्रः । शं नः पर्वता ध्रुवयो भवन्तु शं नः सिन्धवः शमु सन्त्वापः
May the Sun, of wide vision, rise for our peace; may the four directions bring us peace; may the steadfast mountains bring us peace; may the rivers and the waters bring us peace.
शं नो अदितिर्भवतु व्रतेभिः शं नो भवन्तु मरुतः स्वर्काः । शं नो विष्णुः शमु पूषा नो अस्तु शं नो भवित्रं शं वस्तु वायुः
May Aditi, with her vows, bring us peace; may the Maruts, shining with light, bring us peace; may Viṣṇu and Pūṣan bring us peace; may the purifier and Vāyu bring us peace.
शं नो देवः सविता त्रायमाणः शं नो भवन्तूषसो विभातीः । शं नः पर्जन्यो भवतु प्रजाभ्यः शं नः क्षेत्रस्य पतिरस्तु शंभुः
May the god Savitṛ, the protector, bring us peace; may the dawns, shining forth, bring us peace; may Parjanya bring peace to our offspring; may the lord of the field, the beneficent one, bring us peace.
शं नः सत्यस्य पतयो भवन्तु शं नो अर्वन्तः शमु सन्तु गावः । शं न ऋभवः सुकृतः सुहस्ताः शं नो भवतु पितरो हवेषु
May the lords of truth bring us peace; may swift horses and cows be peaceful for us. May the Ribhus, skillful and dexterous, bring us peace; may our ancestors be favorable in our offerings.
शं नो देवा विश्वदेवा भवन्तु शं सरस्वती सह धीभिरस्तु । शमभिषाचः शमु रातिषाचः शं नो दिव्याः पार्थिवाः शं नो अप्याः
May the gods, all the deities, bring us peace; may Sarasvati, together with wisdom, be with us. May the healers and the bestowers of gifts bring us peace; may the divine, earthly, and watery beings bring us peace.
शं नो अज एकपाद्देवो अस्तु शमहिर्बुध्न्यः शं समुद्रः । शं नो अपां नपात्पेरुरस्तु शं नः पृष्णिर्भवतु देवगोपा
May the god Aja Ekapad be peaceful for us; may Ahirbudhnya and the ocean bring us peace. May the wide-ranging offspring of the waters be favorable; may Prishni, the divine protector, bring us peace.
आदित्या रुद्रा वसवो जुषन्तामिदं ब्रह्म क्रियमाणं नवीयः । सृण्वन्तु नो दिव्याः पार्थिवासो गोजाता उत ये यज्ञियासः
May the Adityas, Rudras, and Vasus accept this newly performed prayer. May the divine and earthly beings, those born of cows and those worthy of sacrifice, listen to us.
ये देवानामृत्विजो यज्ञियासो मनोर्यजत्रा अमृता ऋतज्ञाः । ते नो रासन्तामुरुगायमद्य यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः
May those who are priests of the gods, worthy of sacrifice, the immortal knowers of truth, the worshipful ones of Manu, grant us wide-ranging glory today. May you always protect us with blessings.
तदस्तु मित्रावरुणा तदग्ने शं योरस्मभ्यमिदमस्तु शस्तम् । अशीमहि गाधमुत प्रतिष्ठां नमो दिवे बृहते सादनाय
Let it be so, O Mitra and Varuna, let it be so, O Agni; may this blessing be ours. May we attain depth and firm foundation; homage to the great heaven, the seat of dwelling.
उषा अप स्वसुस्तमः सं वर्तयति वर्तनिं सुजातता । अया वाजं देवहितं सनेम मदेम शतहिमाः सुवीराः
Dawn, the best of sisters, turns the path toward brightness, well-born. By her may we obtain wealth bestowed by the gods, may we rejoice, strong with a hundred powers and good sons.
इन्द्रस्य बाहू स्थविरौ वृषाणौ चित्रा इमा वृषभौ पारयिष्णू । तौ योक्षे प्रथमो योग आगते याभ्यां जितमसुराणां स्वर्यत्
Indra’s arms, strong and mighty, these splendid, powerful bulls, are able to carry us across. Harness them at the first call to action, by which the enemies were conquered and the heavenly world attained.
आशुः शिशानो वृषभो न भीमो घनाघनः क्षोभणश्चर्षणीनाम् । संक्रन्दनोऽनिमिष एकवीरः शतं सेना अजयत्साकमिन्द्रः
Swift, fierce as a bull, terrifying, thundering, shaking the peoples, tumultuous, unblinking, a solitary hero—Indra, together with a hundred armies, conquered.
संक्रन्दनेनानिमिषेण जिष्णुनायोध्येन दुश्च्यवनेन धृष्णुना । तदिन्द्रेण जयत तत्सहध्वं युधो नर इषुहस्तेन वृष्णा
With tumult, with unblinking might, with victorious, unyielding, and bold force—by that Indra, conquer, stand together in battle, O men, with the mighty one who holds the arrow in his hand.
स इषुहस्तैः स निषङ्गिभिर्वशी संस्रष्टा स युध इन्द्रो गणेन । संसृष्टजित्सोमपा बाहुशर्ध्युग्रधन्वा प्रतिहिताभिरस्ता
With those who hold arrows, with those who bear quivers, with the obedient, Indra leads the host in battle. The winner of assembled contests, drinker of Soma, strong-armed, with fierce bow, he stands with those who resist.
बलविज्ञायः स्थविरः प्रवीरः सहस्वान् वाजी सहमान उग्रः । अभिवीरो अभिषत्वा सहोजिज्जैत्रमिन्द्र रथमा तिष्ठ गोविदम्
Wise in strength, steadfast, supremely heroic, powerful, victorious, enduring, fierce—O Indra, stand on our chariot, rich in cattle, as the victorious one, the subduer of enemies.
इमं वीरमनु हर्षध्वमुग्रमिन्द्रं सखायो अनु सं रभध्वम् । ग्रामजितं गोजितं वज्रबाहुं जयन्तमज्म प्रमृणन्तमोजसा
Rejoice together in this hero, this fierce Indra, O friends; join together with him. Victor in the village, victor in cattle, with arms like thunderbolts, triumphant in the race, crushing with his might.
अभि गोत्राणि सहसा गाहमानोऽदाय उग्रः शतमन्युरिन्द्रः । दुश्च्यवनः पृतनाषाडयोध्योऽस्माकं सेना अवतु प्र युत्सु
Assaulting the enclosures with force, taking them, fierce Indra, the hundred-wrathful, advances. The unyielding, destroyer of hosts, unconquered in battle—may our army be protected by him in the fight.
