Just as our forefathers, the ancient ones, O Agni, who delighted in truth, shone with purity, radiant, praised by hymns, breaking through the earth, drove away the darkness—
Performers of good deeds, shining, devoted to the gods, like the gods themselves, established in their divine birth, pure, they strengthened Agni and Indra, and made for us a wide, cattle-rich gathering.
Like a herd in fertile pasture, the mighty one has revealed the divine origins; even mortals, longing for immortality, strive for increase, O noble one, in the highest abodes.
We have not acted, O self-reliant one; we have entered the truth, the radiant dawns have shone forth. May all that is auspicious, which the gods protect, be ours; may we speak greatly in the assembly, strong with good sons.

You are the supporter, you are the foundation, you are of the lineage.
You are filled with water, filled with honey, filled with wind.
From here and from there may they protect me, as Yama, striving, when he goes forth. The worshipful, devoted to the gods, bring you forth; may you both sit in your own world, knowing it.
May you, O Indra, remain in your own place for us; with reverence we join you to the ancient prayer. The hymn spreads forth like a poet on the path; let all the immortals hear this.
He followed three steps in form, then by observance approached the four-footed; with the imperishable he measures out the hymn, purifying it at the navel of immortality.
For the gods he chose death, for offspring why did he not choose immortality? Brihaspati extended the sacrifice, the seer, and Yama released his beloved form.
You, Agni, invoked, knower of all births, have carried the fragrant offerings, giving them to the Fathers with your own power; they have eaten. Do you, O god, consume the prepared oblations.
Seated in the lap of the dawns, the mortals have obtained wealth for the worshipper; fathers, give that wealth to his sons, and here bestow strength.
Fathers who have enjoyed the sacrificial fire, come here, sit in your proper seats, well-guided; eat the prepared oblations on the sacred grass, and grant us wealth with all heroes.
Our fathers, delightful with Soma, called upon, on the sacred grass, in dear resting places—may they come, may they hear here, may they speak over us, may they protect us.
Those who are our fathers' fathers, and grandfathers, who have followed, the Soma-drinkers, the most excellent—may Yama, rejoicing with them, eat the oblations, each according to his wish.
Those who were eager among the gods, striving, skilled in the rites, composers of hymns with praises—O Agni, come with a thousand god-honored, true, wise seers, sitting at the hot libation.
Those true ones, eaters of the offering, drinkers of the oblation, who with Indra and the gods ride together, O Agni, come with the well-giving, with the later and earlier seers, sitting at the hot libation.
Draw near to this mother earth, broad, far-stretching, kindly; earth, rich in wool, may the southern part favor you; may she guard you on the path ahead.
Rise up, O earth, do not press down; be easy to approach, easy to pass over for him; as a mother wraps her child, so cover him, O earth.
