विद्म ते स्वप्न जनित्रमभूत्याः पुत्रोऽसि यमस्य करणः । अन्तकोऽसि मृत्युरसि । तं त्वा स्वप्न तथा सं विद्म स नः स्वप्न दुष्वप्न्यात्पाहि
We know your origin, O sleep; you are the son of Abhūti, the agent of Yama; you are the ender, you are death. Thus we know you, O sleep; protect us from evil dreams.

We know your origin, O dream; you are the child of defeat, the agent of Yama. You are the Ender, you are Death. Thus, O dream, we recognize you; protect us, O dream, from evil dreams.
विद्म ते स्वप्न जनित्रं देवजामीनां पुत्रोऽसि यमस्य करणः । अन्तकोऽसि मृत्युरसि । तं त्वा स्वप्न तथा सं विद्म स नः स्वप्न दुष्वप्न्यात्पाहि
We know your origin, O dream; you are the child of the offspring of the gods, the agent of Yama. You are the Ender, you are Death. Thus, O dream, we recognize you; protect us, O dream, from evil dreams.
अजैष्माद्यासनामद्यामूमनागसो वयम्
Today we have conquered, today we have sat down, today we are free from guilt.
उषो यस्माद्दुष्वप्न्यादभैष्माप तदुच्छतु
Because of which evil dream we were afraid—let that vanish away.
द्विषते तत्परा वह शपते तत्परा वह
Carry that away from us which is hateful, carry that away from us which is cursed.
यं द्विष्मो यश्च नो द्वेष्टि तस्मा एनद्गमयामः
Whom we hate and who hates us, to him let this be sent.
उषा देवी वाचा संविदाना वाग्देव्युषसा संविदाना
The goddess Dawn, agreeing with speech, the goddess of speech, agreeing with Dawn.
उषस्पतिर्वाचस्पतिना संविदानो वाचस्पतिना संविदानः
The lord of Dawn, agreeing with the lord of speech, the lord of speech, agreeing with the lord of Dawn.
तेऽमुष्मै परा वहन्त्वरायान् दुर्णाम्नः सदान्वाः
May they carry away for him those constant followers of misfortune, the swift ones of evil speech.
कुम्भीकाः दूषीकाः पीयकान्
The Kumbhikas, the Dushikas, the Piyakas.
जाग्रद्दुष्वप्न्यं स्वप्नेदुष्वप्न्यम्
Evil in dreams while awake, evil in dreams while asleep.
अनागमिष्यतो वरान् अवित्तेः संकल्पान् अमुच्या द्रुहः पाशान्
Let the bonds of deceit, the intentions of the unwise, the desires of the impoverished, not return here.
तदमुष्मा अग्ने देवाः परा वहन्तु वघ्रिर्यथासद्विथुरो न साधुः
May the gods, O Agni, carry that away for him, as a wolf carries off a cripple, not a worthy one.
तेनैनं विध्याम्यभूत्यैनं विध्यामि निर्भूत्यैनं विध्यामि पराभूत्यैनं विध्यामि ग्राह्यैनं विध्यामि तमसैनं विध्यामि
With this I strike him with misfortune, I strike him with ruin, I strike him with destruction, I strike him with defeat, I strike him with capture, I strike him with darkness.
देवानामेनं घोरैः क्रूरैः प्रैषैरभिप्रेष्यामि
With the dreadful, fierce messengers of the gods, I send him forth.
वैश्वानरस्यैनं दंष्ट्रयोरपि दधामि
I place him between the jaws of Vaiśvānara.
एवानेवाव सा गरत्
Thus, thus, may she devour him.
योऽस्मान् द्वेष्टि तमात्मा द्वेष्टु यं वयं द्विष्मः स आत्मानं द्वेष्टु
Whoever hates us, let his own self hate him; whom we hate, let his own self hate him.
निर्द्विषन्तं दिवो निः पृथिव्या निरन्तरिक्षाद्भजाम
Let us distribute from the sky, from the earth, and from the atmosphere, that which is free from hostility.
सुयामंश्चाक्षुष
And let us be well-guided and clear-sighted.
इदमहमामुष्यायणेऽमुष्याः पुत्रे दुष्वप्न्यं मृजे
This I wipe away for the descendant, for the son of that one, the evil dream.
यददोअदो अभ्यगछं यद्दोषा यत्पूर्वां रात्रिम्
Whatever harm I approached, whatever was done in the evening, whatever was done in the previous night,
यज्जाग्रद्यत्सुप्तो यद्दिवा यन् नक्तम्
Whatever was done while awake, whatever was done while asleep, whatever was done by day or by night,
यदहरहरभिगछामि तस्मादेनमव दये
Whatever I approach day after day, from that may I protect him, may I show mercy.
तं जहि तेन मन्दस्व तस्य पृष्टीरपि शृणीहि
Strike him, delight in that, listen even to his back.
स मा जीवीत्तं प्राणो जहातु
May he not live, may his breath depart.
जितमस्माकमुद्भिन्नमस्माकमृतमस्माकं तेजसस्माकं ब्रह्मास्माकं स्वरस्माकं यज्ञोऽस्माकं पशवोऽस्माकं प्रजा अस्माकं वीरा अस्माकम्
Victory is ours, bursting forth is ours, death is ours, energy is ours, sacred knowledge is ours, heaven is ours, sacrifice is ours, cattle are ours, progeny is ours, heroes are ours.
जितमस्माकमुद्भिन्नमस्माकमृतमस्माकं तेजोऽस्माकं ब्रह्मास्माकं स्वरस्माकं यज्ञोऽस्माकं पशवोऽस्माकं प्रजा अस्माकं वीरा अस्माकम् । तस्मादमुं निर्भजामोऽमुमामुष्यायणममुष्याः पुत्रमसौ यः । स निर्ऋत्याः पाशान् मा मोचि
Victory is ours, bursting forth is ours, death is ours, energy is ours, sacred knowledge is ours, heaven is ours, sacrifice is ours, cattle are ours, progeny is ours, heroes are ours. Therefore, let us distribute that one, that descendant, that son of that one. May he not be released from the bonds of destruction.
