Indra goes to him; he becomes endowed with power.
Who knows the sun as Kshatra and the sky as Indra—
If a Vrātya, knowing thus, comes as a guest to the house—
He should approach him himself and say: 'Vrātya, where have you come from? Let the Vrātya have water; let the Vrātya be satisfied. Vrātya, as you desire, so let it be; Vrātya, as you wish, so let it be; Vrātya, as you intend, so let it be.'
If one says to him, 'Vrātya, where have you been?'—by that, he obstructs for him the path of the gods.
If one says to him, 'Vrātya, water!'—by that, he obstructs for him the waters.
If one says to him, 'Vrātya, let them satisfy you!'—by that, he makes his breath greater.
If one says to him, 'Vrātya, as you desire, so may it be!'—by that, he grants him what is dear.
He attains what is dear; he becomes dear to the dear, who knows thus.
If one says to him, 'Vrātya, as you wish, so may it be!'—by that, he grants him mastery.
He attains mastery; he becomes a master among masters, who knows thus.
If one says to him, 'Vrātya, as your desire, so may it be!'—by that, he grants him desire.
He attains desire; he becomes desired among the desired, who knows thus.
Therefore, if a learned one, when the fires are kindled and the Agnihotra is established, receives the Vrātya as a guest into his house—
He should himself approach him and say, 'Vrātya, permit me; I will offer.'
If he permits, he should offer; if he does not permit, he should not offer.
He who, having been permitted by a learned Vrātya, offers—
He knows the path of the ancestors, he knows the path of the gods.
Among the gods, his offering is not cut off.
In this world, a secure foundation remains for him who, having been permitted by a learned Vrātya, offers.
But he who, not having been permitted by a learned Vrātya, offers—
He does not know the path of the ancestors, nor the path of the gods.
Among the gods, he becomes the most virile of the unoffered.
For him, in this world, no abode remains, who offers without being properly released by a Vrātya who knows thus.
Now, if one who knows thus, with a Vrātya as guest, lets him stay in his house for one night, he thereby secures for himself all the blessed worlds on earth.
If one who knows thus, with a Vrātya as guest, lets him stay in his house for a second night, he thereby secures for himself all the blessed worlds in the atmosphere.
If one who knows thus, with a Vrātya as guest, lets him stay in his house for a third night, he thereby secures for himself all the blessed worlds in heaven.
If one who knows thus, with a Vrātya as guest, lets him stay in his house for a fourth night, he thereby secures for himself the most blessed of the blessed worlds.
If one who knows thus, with a Vrātya as guest, lets him stay in his house for countless nights, he thereby secures for himself all the countless blessed worlds.
Now, if a non-Vrātya, bearing the name 'Vrātyabru', comes as a guest to the house—
