With hopeful mind, seeking well-being, prosperity, and abundance for her people, being devoted to her husband, let her unite with us for immortality.
Just as the river, the Sindhu, has brought forth sovereignty among rivers, so may you become sovereign, entering your husband's home.
Be a sovereign among your husband's fathers, a sovereign also among his brothers; be a sovereign among sisters-in-law, a sovereign also among mothers-in-law.
Those who did not cut, who did not divide, who wove, who gave the garment all around—may they join you to old age; put on this garment, full of life.
They weep as they lead the living woman to the ritual, men shine forth following a long line; what is pleasing to the ancestors, may that bring joy to the husbands—I embrace the bride.
I set a firm, enduring stone for your offspring, on the lap of the divine earth; stand upon it, be radiant, may Savitar grant you long life.
With that with which Agni took the right hand of this earth, with that I take your hand; do not tremble—be with me, with offspring and with wealth.
May the god Savitar take your hand, may King Soma make you fruitful; may Agni, knower of all, make the wife fortunate for her husband, long-lived.
I take your hand for good fortune, that together with me, your husband, you may grow old; Bhaga, Aryaman, Savitar, and Purandhi, may the gods grant you to me for household prosperity.
Bhaga has taken your hand, Savitar has taken your hand; you are the wife by law, I am your householder.
May this woman be prosperous for me, may Bṛhaspati give you to me; with me, your husband, bearing children, live a hundred autumns together.
Tvaṣṭṛ made a beautiful garment by the guidance of Bṛhaspati, the wise; with that, may Savitar and Bhaga clothe this woman with offspring, as Sūryā.
Indra and Agni, Heaven and Earth, Mātariśvan, Mitra and Varuṇa, Bhaga, the Aśvins, Bṛhaspati, the Maruts, Brahman, Soma—may they make this woman increase with offspring.
Bṛhaspati first arranged the hair on Sūryā's head; with that, O Aśvins, we adorn this woman for her husband.
This is the nature of a woman: the wife, seeking to know her husband, moves in thought; I will follow her with new companions—who, knowing this, has loosened these bonds?
I will loosen them; her form is in me, I know it, seeing the nest of the mind; I have not stolen, I am not released by the mind, I myself loosen the bonds of Varuṇa.
I release you from the bonds of Varuṇa, with which Savitar, the gracious, bound you; I make for you, O bride, a wide world, an easy path, together with your husband.
Rise up, drive away the demons, place this woman with the good; the wise Creator has found her a husband, may King Bhaga come here, knowing, to beget offspring.
Bhaga has fashioned four feet; Bhaga has fashioned four wheels. Tvaṣṭṛ has shaped the middle, fitting the spokes. May she be auspicious for us.
Let her bear a beautiful covering, of many forms, golden in color, well-joined, with good wheels. Ascend, O bride, to the immortal realm of the sun; make the path for the husbands pleasant for you.
Bring to us, O Savitar, a wife who does not slay her brother, who does not harm her husband, who is blessed by Varuṇa, who is fruitful, O Bṛhaspati, who does not harm her lord, O Indra.
Do not harm the maiden, O post, on the path made by the gods. At the threshold of the divine house, we make the bride’s way pleasant.
Let the sacred utterance be yoked at the end, at the beginning, and in the middle, let the sacred utterance be everywhere. Entering the city of the gods unharmed, shine auspicious and pleasant in the world of your husband.
For you at the front they have yoked Sūryā together with the bridal car. O Agni, give us a wife with offspring, together with prosperity, for our husbands.
Agni has given back the wife, together with long life and splendor. May her husband live a hundred autumns with long life.
Soma was your first husband, the Gandharva your second; Agni is your third husband, and the fourth are men born of men.
Soma gave her to the Gandharva, the Gandharva gave her to Agni; Agni has given me wealth and sons, and also this woman.
May you both come with good thoughts, O Aśvins, rich in horses; may desires dwell in your hearts. Become guardians, the pair, lords of beauty; may we attain the favor of Aryaman.
With joyful mind, with auspicious thought, bestow wealth, all-heroic and renowned. Grant an easy crossing, good drinking, O lords of beauty; establish firm standing, remove evil intention.
May the herbs, the rivers, the fields, and the forests protect you, O bride, fruitful for your husband, from the demons.
