The earth is upheld by truth, the sky is upheld by the sun; the Ādityas stand by order, Soma is established in the heavens.
By Soma the Ādityas are strong, by Soma the great earth is mighty; and among these stars, Soma is placed in their midst.
He who drinks thinks he has consumed Soma when the herbs are pressed; but the Soma known by the Brahmins, no mortal eats of that.
When they drink you, Soma, from that you are filled again; Vāyu is the guardian of Soma, the months are its form.
Protected by coverings, guarded by the Barhish, Soma is preserved; you stand listening to the stones, no mortal eats of you.
Splendid was the bedding, the eye was the ointment; heaven and earth were the covering when Sūryā chose her husband.
Raibhya was the attendant, Nārāśaṃsī the one who spread the seat; the auspicious garment of Sūryā, adorned with song, went forth.
Hymns were the steps, the Kurīra the canopy, the metres the veils; for Sūryā, the Aśvins were the best men, Agni was the leader.
Soma became the wooer, the Aśvins were both the best men; when Sūryā, praised for her husband, was given by Savitṛ with his mind.
Her mind was the axle, heaven was the covering; the two bright oxen were the draught animals when Sūryā went to her husband.
The two cows, addressed with Ṛc and Sāman, came as your chants; your ears became wheels, the path in heaven was moving and still.
Your shining wheel moves, the axle is firmly fixed; Sūryā ascended the mind-made chariot, striving towards her husband.
Savitṛ sent forth the draught animal for Sūryā; in Maghā stars the cows are slaughtered, in Phalgunī they are yoked.
When you two Aśvins, inquiring, came with the three-wheeled chariot for Sūryā, where was your one wheel, where did you place the yoke?
When you came, O lords of beauty, to choose Sūryā, all the gods knew that for you; Pūṣan, the son, chose the father.
Two of your wheels, O Sūryā, the Brāhmaṇas know according to the seasons; but the one wheel that is hidden, only the wise know that.
We worship Aryaman, the good friend, the knower of marriage; as a cucumber from its bond, I release you from here, not from there.
I release you from here, well-bound, not to be lost; as you, Indra, O gracious one, are blessed with good sons.
I release you from the noose of Varuṇa, with which Savitṛ, the gracious, bound you; in the womb of truth, in the world of good deeds, may you be happy for strength and support.
May Bhaga lead you here, holding your hand; may the Aśvins carry you forth with their chariot; go to the house as the mistress of the house, speak wisely in the assembly.
Here may your beloved offspring thrive, in this house keep watch over the sacred fire; touch your body with your husband, then, aged, speak wisely in the assembly.
